The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie - The Links
About
The Golf Club at Hawk's Prairie offers two 18-hole courses, the Links and the Woodlands. Located just a few miles north of Olympia in Lacey, Washington, the club is one of the best golf values in the South Sound. The Links Course joined the original 18 holes in 1999, providing a stark contrast to the aptly named Woodlands Course. The classic Scottish-links design features open fairways and undulating greens. The layout sprawls north towards the mouth of the Puget Sound. There are some rolling hills but the course is still a nice walk, especially with the views of Mount Rainier along the way. You'll encounter numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout and water hazards come into play on half of the holes. It's a challenging but fair golf course with five sets of tees making it playable for all skill levels.

golfnow
It's hard to match the deal that we received on golf now.com. It's really wet out there currently but the greens are in fantastic condition for this time of year.
Vicwood link course in terrible shape
Greens are in great shape, alot brown grass, hit Ball off fairway Ball lost and will roll forever. Their only watering fairway. I played this golf 40 times. Worst shape I seen it.
Tricky Course!
This was the first time playing this course. The course conditions were good but a bit short of great. The greens were very difficult and the pins were in some pretty awkward spots.
This course is long. I am a 17 handicap and don't hit the ball a mile. I played the white tees and next time I think I will play the yellow.
All in all, at at Golf Now price of $31.00, I had a good time and will play there again.
Fun for all
A very good course. Great place for beginners and intermediate players to play. Excellent value. Book a round and enjoy a excellent morning or afternoon of play. Player assistant is on the course to keep up the pace.
Very playable course a short drive from Tacoma.
Played as a single in under 3 hours on a Monday morning. Doesn't get much better than that. Very playable course with not much trouble off the tee. Plays through a housing development but houses are well out of play. Some rough spots in the rough but overall conditions are good. Greens rolling true and not overly fast. Hole 18 can be a challenge with a large tree in the middle of the fairway and it plays uphill all the way to the green. A very good finishing hole.
Fun course for any day
This is my second time playing. The first was in bad weather and this time was in great weather. both times the course a lot of fun with some tough challenges. it's not the longest course, but you have to really think your way through a couple holes. Mix that with a very friendly staff and you get a great afternoon!
Can't go wrong playing here
Great course loved playing the tips, tough but fair, have played the course before that's why I choose to play it again!
Better than average course
I love this place . Greens are always in great shape a challenging course the price very affordable for a course of quality.
Fun Links course
Greens were in great condition and fairways well maintained. Rough was just long enough to be challenging. Lots of sand on this course so be prepared to stay in the middle of the fairways
Wide Open
Thanks to the NFL, we had the course to ourselves. Course was well kept, fairways extra-bouncy. Finished 18 in under 3 hours. No complaints here!
An Average Links course
I have to stay at 3stars due to a few things. For being a links course, there are very few fairways that roll into the opposing fairway. Just fairways that are narrow at the 270-320 range and they either roll to the left into water or catch basins off the course or I to very thick underbrush. Having revered played the course before, the two gentlemen that we paired with gave us the lay of the land, helping to ensure that my draw or fade usage did not swallow my ball.
The greens where in great shape, but have almost no action. No break what so ever on over 90%of the putts. The fairways are in nice shape, but the view from the tee is deceptive as to where you should hit for a first timer on the course. The score card offered no help.
I will play again, but it will not be on my list of favorites.
If I could recommend one thing, please put digital GAS systems in the carts. We live amongst Apple and Microsoft for heavens sake.
Great Course, Slow Play
We played this course at 10:40 a.m. on a Tuesday and were surprised at how slow the play was beginning on the first tee. We constantly waited for anywhere from 1-5 minutes to hit our shots due to the 4-some playing ahead of us. On hole 3 the Course Marshal approached us to notify us that we were a 2-some stuck behind (8) 4-somes, so it was going to be a 4h 30m or longer round. It took us all of that and a little bit more to finish. The good news is that the course was in excellent condition and it was great weather. I would definitely play this course again, but would choose the Woodlands over the Links course any time.
Great course for the price
First time playing here, but will come back. Played the Links Course, course was in very good condition considering the recent drought. The fairways had some brown spots and the ground was firm. Greens were in great shape and ran true. All the employees were friendly and helpful.
good day on short gras
the course was in good condition, greens were quick. Enjoyed the round.
