Allenmore Golf Course
About
Allenmore Golf Course is located in the heart of Tacoma but thanks to the beautiful setting with Mt. Rainier serving as a backdrop, it feels like it's actually miles from the city. The layout is just over 6,000 yards from the back tees and though it's not particularly long, it offers plenty of variety. It's a course where you'll have to use every club in your bag. Trouble lurks at almost every turn in the form of doglegs, trees, or out-of-bounds. Water hazards also come into play. With uphill, sidehill, and downhill lies, the course is never boring and while there are some challenging holes, there are also birdie opportunities if you play strategically. In addition to the golf course, Allenmore also has a short-iron driving range and a practice facility with chipping and putting greens.

Fun Course with plenty to offer
This is not the longest course, but it makes up for being on the short side with some holes that require thought off the tee. There's a few holes where bombing it will net you a birdie opportunity, but there are several par 4s that really make you consider a long iron out of the box. The greens are probably the biggest obstacle. Often small with plenty of speed and undulation. Always fun playing here!
Rain Storm Golf... lol....
Allenmore, what's to say?
The course is a lot of fun, semi challenging, in wonderful condition.
This time out, after the first hole the rain began and boy howdy did it ever come down. I was drenched and with a strong wind the conditions became worthy of a US Open task master. Between the rain, the wind, wet ground, now-slippery-clubs... it was a blast. LOL I actually had a blast and still managed to play 18 holes of epic-challenge-golf. Wooo hooo! Hooyah!!!
I gotta give it up for Allenmore on this one, because even with the terrential rains and high winds... the course remained playable.
This one will go into the books for me to remember. I shot an 88 all said and done. Not bad for my 7th game of golf after 27 years I'm told. (?) I have no clue as I've never had a lesson to know one way or the other.
*cheers* and good golf to everyone. Where to play next round? We shall see...
Thank you for your review! We are so happy to hear that despite the weather conditions, you had a great day on our course. Please come back and play with us again soon- maybe you'll get lucky with good weather and enjoy the course even more!!
Tight short course
The course is in fair shape greens are really good
As with all public courses not everyone knows etiquette of waiting for you to clear the green area before firing away. Was almost hit twice on one hole because it was backed up to start and a couple more times later in the round from no FORE yells.
But the course is a good value
We're so sorry that you encountered bad etiquette during your round. We hope this doesn't deter you from coming back and playing again. Thanks for the review!
Great Public Course
If you can hit a straight ball and stay out of the trees you will have a great day. I of course made it a little more challenging with some trees getting in my way. Loved the course. Makes you think!
Thank you for your 5 star review! We are glad to have given you a bit of a challenge. Thanks for playing at Allenmore!
Always nice
Turned out to be a great day and the fairways were running and shot one of the best rounds I have
Thank you so much for the excellent review, u355226431! We hope to see you again soon!
A NW Jewel
Love this course, the remodel of the course, brand new clubhouse and avid maintainence has really made this worth driving from Seattle.
Thank you so much for the kind words, mpmjazz! We're thrilled to hear that our hard work really shines through. Creating a great experience for our golfers is paramount and we hope to see you out here again soon!
Saturday Round
Course in great shape. Just a typical slow weekend round.
No beer cart tho - little disappointing...
Good time!
We appreciate the feedback, sh4wilson! We're glad to hear that you had a good time with us!
Good convenient course
Allenmore is a well maintains course. It has a lot of open fairways which make it easier for beginners who struggle to remain on the right fairway. The greens had recently been sanded and were very slow but that is a small complaint for early in the season
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Joshua2368315! We love getting this kind of feedback from our golfers.
Overall ok
Overall ok, this is a public course and adjust your expectations to fairways and greens
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Tigerplan!
4somes
Like the course, love the greens. Quick and slippery. Was a 2some behind a foursome so the first 9 was slow. A bunch of 2somes behind us but never on the tee box at the same time. Either group us up in the clubhouse or determine the level of play of the foursome and explain "let the 2 some behind you play through. We quickly passed them at 10 and finished 3 holes ahead of them. Felt sorry about the 2.2.1.2 groups behind them.
We appreciate the review, stein7470! We understand it can be frustrating when you're playing faster than the group ahead and we thank you for your patience. Hope to see you again soon!
coures was in good shape
The course was in very good shape they need a snack bar for beer and hot dogs
Thank you for your feedback, uSPPS7150SP!!
Early morning Fun
Had a Tee time at 6:30 am and the sun had just come up. Course was wet from dew but other than that the fairways were short and rough was manageable. Greens were fast for having been punched 3 weeks prior they rolled smooth as well. Not the hardest or longest course but I will play here again for sure.
We're thrilled to hear that you had an enjoyable round with us, Jarrod2338270! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Great intermediate course.
Allenmore is always fun.
They were running 20 minutes late yesterday on tee times, but pace of play wasn't bad for a beautiful Sunday afternoon. No power cart restrictions definitely helped in pace of play.
They added an impromptu beverage cart, which was nice.
We're glad you had a fun round, CRogerson! We love hearing from our golfers!
Great Course - Poor Atmosphere
Have played this course as part of a 4-some at least 100 times. The course is always well kept and enjoyable but the admin staff is typical Elks; Old, Grouchy, Unprofessional, Unhelpful, Unfriendly, and at times just plain Rude. Quite the more so since the Elks club rebuilt ON the course property and got rid of their long time professional staff in favor of folks who just don't give a hoot whether you play here or not. I really like the course and bargains are generally aqvaiable. But if there is any chance to go elsewhere, we will !!. Gorgeous clubhouse with absolutely NO priveleges for non-ELKS ... I was a member ... but no longer.
Thomas3386856, we have been working on this. I know it seems like we don’t have a lot of options for the golfers to sit down and eat but that will be changing here in the next couple months. We are bringing in a wonderful restaurant that will be the nicest and most comfortable place for golfers to sit and relax after their round of golf. We take pride in making sure our golfers have a good experience while playing golf here at Allenmore or just here to visit. I hope guest that have had a bad experience here will come back and try again, and see that we really do care about our golfers and hope to make it one of the best times they have had at a golf course.
Growing the Game for Kids...Not at Allenmore
Took my kids out to walk with me and Grandpa as we played. They love watching and I can teach them etiquette. We are walking down the first hole and the surly old pro shop attendant tells us we're crazy thinking we can bring the kids on the course. When asked for a reason, he said its policy at every course. They've walked at plenty of other courses, so I asked to see the policy, as it wasn't displayed anywhere in the clubhouse. He wasn't able to produce this policy, so apparently it was just his personal policy that he didn't want kids on the course. Extremely frustrating to load the kids back into the car disappointed that they couldn't golf.
rain
The course does not drain well in the rain. I enjoy playing this course in the Summer, but I wouldn't play it again jn the rain. The greens have puddles in the rain.
Not Accomodating
Requested a handicap flag and they said okay, but I had to stay on cart paths even though a recent leg implant makes it difficult and painful to walk up or down hills. If I hadn't prepaid I wouldn't have teed off. Rude staff.
Good conditions
I enjoyed the course. Conditions were nice. Greens were punched 3 weeks ago and have healed nicely. It's definitely a busy place, but the pace of play was fine. It has some nice views of Mt. Rainer on the back nine, if you catch it on a clear day.
Beautiful old course
played with 3 of my older friends and had a very good time. Pace of play was good and greens, even though recently aerated, were in good shape. Good value
Fall at Allenmore
Disappointed that there were no warnings that the greens had been aeriated. Putting was impossible.
Pronghorn Golf Experience Package
We appreciate your feedback and glad to hear you always have fun on our course! Thanks for taking the time to inform other golfers on what to expect from our course. Hope to see you soon!
