About
Allenmore Golf Course is located in the heart of Tacoma but thanks to the beautiful setting with Mt. Rainier serving as a backdrop, it feels like it's actually miles from the city. The layout is just over 6,000 yards from the back tees and though it's not particularly long, it offers plenty of variety. It's a course where you'll have to use every club in your bag. Trouble lurks at almost every turn in the form of doglegs, trees, or out-of-bounds. Water hazards also come into play. With uphill, sidehill, and downhill lies, the course is never boring and while there are some challenging holes, there are also birdie opportunities if you play strategically. In addition to the golf course, Allenmore also has a short-iron driving range and a practice facility with chipping and putting greens.

Allenmore GC
Played Allenmore in the early morning and the condition of the greens were great, extremely improved from earlier in the summer. Green speeds were fast, very smooth, and very consistent throughout the round. Great greens for the price, they make the course.
They have a substantial sprinkler upgrade project going on, but the impact is fairly small for how big of a project it is. Hopefully the overall condition will be improved once the upgrade is complete.
Course is overall in decent shape considering the work taking place and you can tell they need the upgraded system to provide more even coverage across the fairways. The value is great considering the condition of the greens and they really do make the course. The layout is OK, but you need to really put your approach shots in the right spots and not short side yourself.

Lot of construction. Blotchy greens, soggy spots all over.

Working on the irrigation
One par 4 has been temporarily shortened and some construction equipment is sometimes in the way and at times they can be pretty noisy. But it’s still golf. Greens look patchy but rolled pretty smooth.

Very sad - great course, but a bit of a mess right now
I've played Allenmore many times. It's a fun layout and the course is typically in pretty good shape. It has been a few months since I've played it and boy, I'm just not sure what's going on.
Greens
Cauliflower pattern going on with the grass. They're rolling very fast which I like but unfortunately the multiple types of grass they appear to have growing is resulting in a very bumpy roll and unpredictable changes of direction. I am not sure how they will fix this as there literally appears to be 2 kinds of grass growing on the greens. Putted 6 more putts over 9 holes than my 20 round average and it was not due to having a bad day. Greens can't hold an approach shot hardly at all right now.
Fairways
Burnt out, cut very very short. Ball rolls forever which obviously can be both good and bad.
Construction
It appears there is a major upgrade or repair going on with irrigation as #7 is all dug up and the tee box moved to 200 yards out and workers are everywhere (mostly adjacent to fairways). Why this is being done during peak golf season is a mystery.
Cost
Despite all of this, no effort has been made to let the public know ahead of scheduling, no mention of the conditions in the pro shop. No change to fees.
I hope the course returns to past conditions - it has always been pretty good but frankly it seems like they will have long term challenges getting this back into shape especially with what is happening on the greens right now.

Bumpy Greens, no Food
Got a bargain rate on golf now and played with an awesome couple from Bremerton. The greens were very bumpy and inconsistent maybe because of the heat. They gave a phone number for food at the turn but nobody answered, turned out the restaurant was closed. The drinks lady with a cart came around on the second hole when it was still cloudy but we never saw her after that when it heated up.

The course is going through construction. The construction was mostly between fairways and didn’t affect play very much. The greens are in rough shape. Add to that, whatever mower they are using leaves grooves that were messing with our putting. Allenmore has been a solid course since the improvements years ago, but we were disappointed. First time playing there this year.

Good greens
Courses in typical condition. They're working on the irrigation so some of the areas are being neglected but it still plays well. It's a good challenge with the varying greens. Been one of my favorite courses for value.

This one of my favorite courses in the area
I really enjoy playing this course. Right now they are digging up the course because to improve either the drainage or irrigation. But the course is fun to play.

Very nice golf course
Allenmore Golf Course is a wonderful golf course, I always enjoy playing here. The course is presently putting in an irrigation or a drainage system right now but we all play around the pipe's with no problem.
