Opened in 1931, Brookdale Golf Course has a classic design that has hosted generations of local golfers. The course features large, undulating greens and wide, rolling fairways lined with old-growth firs. The player-friendly layout is ideal for beginners with wide, open fairways and generous landing areas, but there are still challenges in store on the greens, which are bordered by thick rough and strategically placed bunkers. There are several interesting holes with downhill approaches to the green. It may not be what you're looking for if you want a truly formidable test, but Brookdale is a fun and forgiving golf course where high handicappers can build their confidence. Located just 20 minutes south of Tacoma, it is one of the most affordable rounds in the area.

Grass Clippings
Great value for the money, not a very serious challenge in regards to difficulty. The biggest hazard was all the grass clipping left on the fairway, seriously I was cleaning my cleats out on every hole, plus if you miss the first cut the second cut is very, very long - a bit too long. And after suffering through all the grass clipping accumulations the compressed air was broken - the valve was missing. All the Superintendant said was somebody must of stole it and they would get a new one - all the more reason to maybe cut the grass a bit more often and not have it swamping carts, shoes, etc.
All in all though I can't complain too much, it was quite the bargain. And the clubhouse, although dated, puts on quite a good meal.
Great Course Conditions
I've come around on this course. It's got some quirks to it but the course conditions are so good right now they make up for it. Would recommend, a super fun course once you get used to the layout
Nice parkland style course
Very nice course. Good price and the grill has very good food. I will be playing there again.
nice track
Course has water damage no biggie life in pnw
Staff was not truthful
Nothing was said or posted about many temporary greens that were set by bad conditions. My friend called to see how the coarse was playing, and specifically asked if there was any temporary greens and they said no.
I will not play here again, all they had to say was there are temporary greens . I talked to the fellow in the club house and he said he did not make those decisions.
Great for the time of year
Very good job maintaing course for all the bad weather conditions we have had
Not too bad
First time playing here. Not to bad of a course. The rough was a little thick but added some challenge that the layout is missing. Straight ahead and not too challenging. A good course for beginners or high handicappers for sure. A few interesting holes with approaches that dropped to the greens. So a shot a little short bounds towards the hole. Another longer par 5 with tall pines on both sides and green tucked behind left set of trees. With this in mind I'd play a few holes differently. But you can score well here. 76 for my first time. Overall decent course. A few spots in the fairways were in need of some attention. Straight ahead wide fairways off the tee and plenty of room to approach the holes sans a few greens. Will be back.
Great course!
Unfortunately they were doing some work on their back 9 so I only got to play the front 9. Besides the very sandy greens which made putting slightly unpredictable, it was a great time! Went as a single and joined up with the group that i followed, had a lot of fun, meeting new people made it that much more enjoyable! Will go back once the back 9 is done being worked on!
They need benches at all the tee boxes
Great course ,they do a great job overall
Some times we get backed up on the course
THEY NEED BENCHES BY THE TEE BOXES !!!!!!
Friendly Golf Course
Enjoyed the par three's on the course, greens in very good condition.
Pace of play excellent
Pace of play excellent. Not many hazards and open concept allowed for quick recovery when you strayed from fairways. Greens in good shape.
Brokdale GC
Open and friendly fairways, Some very tricky greens. A good value for the money. We will be back.
Great value and excellent practice for good golfers
This is not Chambers Bay, Salish Cliffs, or Whitehorse. It's a very nice muni course that offers a chance to air out the Big Dog on many fours and the fives. Forgiving for modest miss-hits, you can recover fairly well. Almost no water to speak of. The greens are in excellent shape for the hot-dry summer we have had. They hold well. One really long par three at 245+/- that makes the course unusual. Excellent value and friendly staff. Can't remember why I don't stop by more often.......too many good choices in the south sound area I guess. Easy walking course.
Solid value
The course was in good shape. The greens were in very good condition. Overall a very good experience.
Great course for $17
If you don't hit the fairway the ball will skip for a while because it's so dry. Some greens are iffy. But if it's $17 it's worth it but more then that I wouldn't pay to play it.
Relax and play
This is a local gem of course. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Wide open layout is fun for beginner to intermediate golfers. Nice course to walk, and the pace of play was great. We waited just a few minutes at 16, and there was never anyone breathing down our necks all day.
brookdale 7/18/15
Conditions were ok if you were on the fairways and most of the greens were in pretty good condition. If you were off the fairways the hardpan was tough to play off of. No marshalls to be seen keeping pace of play up.
Enjoyable course
This older tree lined course is fun to play. The place of play was OK for a Friday. The greens, for the most part, were in real good shape. This is not a difficult course and I enjoyed it very much.
Nice hole layout but in bad condition for price
I love the design of the holes, but the condition of the course (especially the greens) is not very good on a consistent basis. Spoke with someone named "Dave" in the pro shop over the phone before booking and he was VERY rude.
Fun course
An older course that was fun to play. Was treated well by everyone I met. Didn't grab any thing to eat or drink so cannot comment on that, but they looked busy when walking by. Already recommended course to coworkers.
