Highlands Golf Course
About
Highlands Golf Course in Tacoma, Wash. is a nine-hole course that can be played in just over an hour. All of the holes are par 3 except for one par 4. It's not your typical nine-hole course, the layout is like a full-size course shrunken down to a par 3 with several challenging elements that will test your short-game skills. The terrain is relatively flat, making it an easy golf course to walk, and it is relatively protected from the winds. The sand traps are sparse but strategically placed, and water hazards come into play occasionally as well. Highlands Golf Course is an ideal layout for beginners to get some short-game practice, but for more advanced players it's an excellent option for a quick round that is more challenging than your average nine-hole layout.

Great course
Awesome holes to really dial in and work your short game. Would recommend for all levels of golfers
Great Staff,value,pace of play
Great staff, course layout and pace of play! See Bob if you need anything.
Horrible greens
The course is in horrible shape. We saw several squirrels that were dead where you are supposed to tee-off. Don’t play here, spend your money somewhere else.
Fairways are rough and greens are in poor condition. Hole six was closed without notice prior to play. We had a single golfer in front of us playing three balls and was not consistent in her play, very poor golf etiquette.
Maybe Later
I was very pleased with the staff and the nice patio dining area. But the course is having new sprinklers installed now. That means you couldn't play Hole #1 when I was there. Holes 2, 3 and 4 also have excavation/repair work that hasn't been repaired yet. pretty rough overall with terrible tee boxes that had a ton of sand on them. So you can only play 8 holes but they say you can hit a few extra balls to make up for it. Very friendly folks - but I'm not planning to return at least until 2022. But because of their friendliness, I WILL return!
Fun Par 3 Course
Drove up from Portland to play Chambers Bay, and we all decided to play this par 3 course as a warm up the day before. Clubhouse area is beautiful, the staff inside were extremely nice and accommodating! Unfortunately the course was getting some irrigation work done, so the 4th and 5th holes were out of commission. But they let us play the first two holes again to make sure we got out 9 in, which was very nice! Overall, would definitely recommend this course for a fun little jaunt around the “links”!
