First Time
Enjoyed playing a new course. Will likely play again sometime, but not a priority. Course is pretty flat and not too difficult. There were a couple of difficult holes including a Par 5 600+ hole. Very slow play. Really need to have a marshall to speed up play, especially since we played on a Saturday.
Sad Conditions
I have played Lewis River for many years. Not every year, it is a good 45 minute drive away so I generally play closer courses. I have always liked Lewis River though. Throughout the years it has always been a well kept course and a very fair value. Years ago they got a bit greedy and really raised rates ($75) , it was way to much to drive that far for that course, nice, but better courses for the same money much closer to Portland. They have since lowered the rates again, I was happy to see that and went back to play. I was VERY disappointed in the condition of the course. There were lots of weeds in the fairway.... mowed, but still lots of weeds. Greens were rolling well, but many of the greens had dead areas. They have been trying to repair them, but it doesn't look good. My guess is the greens keeper is not very skilled. Still a nice course, but I know it used to be in MUCH better condition.
Disappointed
Played this course years ago and it was great. This last trip was very different. Started an hour late due to tournament. Went in to check in and stood at counter for 10 minutes and was ignored by pro shop staff. Did not even look up from computer. Fairways were brown. Greens not mowed. Tee boxes not level or changed recently.
Always a pleasure
This is my favorite course and I will play there many times.
Consistent Lewis River
Course is in good shape. We should have checked on the tournament situation. Play was very slow. To the point of a standstill. The employees keep us coming back
Very Nice Course
A hidden gem and one of my favorite courses in SW Washington. The fairways had a few brown spots, but the landscapers and greens keepers were out there in full force. Other than that the course is very scenic and very pretty. We always walk and its always a pleasant experience. I’ll keep going back.
A far drive from the city but worthwhile
I just played Lewis River for the third time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Pace of play was brisk, everyone was friendly and the course was in pretty good shape. The hole layouts are what makes it such a fun course; it’s not long but it is challenging. Only aspects of the course that seemed lacking were the driving range, clubhouse and sand traps. When a great deal pops up it’s a great place to play.
Great Value
A really good course for the price. It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth the drive. The layout is interesting and the greens are challenging.
Lewis River - an old school track with some tight fairways
I love this course! Play it very often and always enjoy it. I enjoy the challenge of keeping it in the fairway since I like to hit it long with the driver, but accuracy is much more important off the tee generally..Although there is a 600 yard par 5 almost 650 from the tips! If your tee shots are working there’s a much better chance of scoring as most holes are not too long, (even from the tips except for a few holes have a huge distance gap to the back tee) however the greens do take some getting use to with the fairly severe slopes. The staff is always awesome and being out in Woodland always feels great, out of the city and in nature! Really a great value even at full price
COURSE CONDITION
THE COURSE IS IN VERY POOR CONDITION FAIRWAYS HAVE VERY LARGE SPOTS THAT ARE SOLID MUD WITH NO GRASS GREENS ARE IN POOR SHAPE FOR THE MONEY THEY ASK I WILL NEVER GO BACK
slowly drying
Greens are in great shape. Fairways are still wet in places. Cart path only elimates alot of play. Needs sand in wet spots, and 100 yard markers or red paint
Absolutely worth the drive!
Treat yourself to this course... love the layout...and the river is awesome!
Most friendly staff I've met!
Played on Sunday morning 03/04 and is was in amazing shape. The man behind the counter was extremely nice and went the extra way to make us right at home. Will definitely be back to this hidden jem ~Robert
Weird I play twice last week 5/15/18 and 5/17/18, the course looked better then all last year, greens are looking good and fairways are looking good... But I agree Richard you should probably never play there again. It's much more peaceful this way :) but for those that love scenery and good golf come on out!
