Golfing is a gift
Anytime you have a chance to play golf it’s a gift period. Layout is challenging, conditions were good and pace of play was EXCELLENT!
Needs some water...
The course is in need of some water on the fairways. They are watering around the green, but the fairways are hard and dry in a lot of places. The greens are in very good shape. Very true. Worth playing with some long and short holes.
Surprising and Disappointing
I love Wildhorse but conditions — mostly turf and bunkers —Sunday were far below normal standards and certainly not worth $70 per player.
See you next year, maybe.
Nice afternoon.
Just two, two groups let us play through. Three hour round, beautiful. Impressed with the courtesy of golfers out there, made a huge difference and seems rare these days.
Awful Bunkers
I like the course and playing the Blues for a short course, but there’s no excuse to have most all of your bunkers as “unplayable lies”. Most were full of water, muddy or brick hard…had to move ball out of bunker and play out from next to them…either take care of them or remove them, it’s that simple.
Hmmm....
First time here. And I really want to give this track another shot because I think there's more to this course than what I experienced.
It was hot - 102 degrees in early June heat wave. Kudos to the course for having water coolers every couple of holes.
It was a Saturday mid-day tee time and had my partner and I not adapted to situation, we were looking at a six-hour round. The course had some shotgun tournament booked that morning and it was full of non-golfers and partiers. And that's fine, except the course did not do a great job of managing the crowd, the noise and the party.
By the sixth hold, we caught the tournament and there we're four groups waiting on a par-3. Then five groups backed up on the par-4 seventh.
We ditched the rotation and found an open stretch on the back nine and then came back later to play what we missed.
I get that golf has grown with the pandemic but these courses needs to manage this better.
I'll give Wildhorse another shot because everyone was nice and I think the layout is fun. But ...
Course is hurting
This used to be a gem in Davis, bunkers are some of the worst I’ve seen in No Cal, tee boxes look terrible, luckily the greens are rolling nice
6-some!!! First time for everything
I play Wildhorse every day (really) while I visit my family in Davis.
For public golf, Wildhorse is a great value and decent course, greens are well maintained and have challenging undulations. On the other hand, the fairway are pretty rough.
However, the reason I am writing this review is because, today (May 27, 2022) I was stuck behind a 6-some. Yes, 6!!!
No problem, you say?
Yes, I did play through, only to get stuck behind a 5-some.
I think there is a fundamentally golf course management issue.
This kind of breach in golf etiquette would make any golf enthusiast to think twice about spending time at Wildhorse...
Best round of golf
I wanted to rate this course perfect but there is always room for improvement. I realize that water is scarce but there were some dry hard spots and some soggy dips. Not sure why the contrary conditions but I had to share this. Some of the sand traps were exactly that traps! I'm sure they will get better because some of them were beautiful. I will be back to Wildhorse in the future.
Pace of Play Good
First time on course. Enjoyed the 4 hour pace of play. Short course but can be challenging. Overall enjoyed the round and will be back.
Tough and intriguing
Course is very tough and intriguing keeps you on your toes and makes you hit good golf shots to stay in the fairways and all the greens
Challenging course
Great course keeps you on tour toes
Great layout
Nice course
Missing directions from the clubhouse. We had to ask where the first tee was. Also the 10th tee.
The range mats were missing driver tees
The fees are a little steep
Environmental hazards
Greens still bumpy after aeration 2 weeks prior.
Plenty of challenges with water sand environmental hazards to carry off tee.
Golf anytime
Anytime you can play golf without the slow play, it’s a great day! Beautiful day, great pace of play and well thought up design. Greens are almost ready.
