Golden Oaks Golf Club
About
Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa. is considered one of Berks County's finest courses with a four-star rating from Golf Digest, which also named it as one of the top "Places to Play." It was voted the "Best Public Course" by readers of Berks County Magazine. Designed by local architect Jim Blaukovitch, the golf course has a classic design that appeals to players of all skill levels. The course has wide, inviting fairways but there are also some challenges provided by the rolling terrain, featuring elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Be prepared for a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. Trees line Golden Oaks Golf Club's fairways and strategically placed bunkers protect the greensides. The golf course has some tricky holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Great Course and Value. Would like to see more options for 18-hole summer weeknight play
Love this course, but I'd not mind an explicit option to book and play 18-holes for start times after 5 p.m. on summer weeknights. It stays light until 8:45 p.m. most of the summer.
I understand the course's perspective. Keeping staff on the clock while they wait for small numbers of weeknight players to return carts to the clubhouse is not profitable. It's also bad for worker morale.
Still, I'd be happy to walk to ensure that I'm not keeping anyone away from their families at home while I'm staying late at the golf course.
Very nice course, except...
The course itself was very nice, a great layout, many fun holes. The bunkers on 14 of 18 holes were unplayable. No rain for multiple days and there were huge puddles in the bunkers. The green speeds were inconsistent.
Course was in poor shape. The bunkers were a disaster. The greens had tons of old ball marks that were never repaired. The pace of play was terrible. I was half tempted to call the clubhouse to complain about the slow play. There was an older group walking and was a complete log jam behind them. Our round was 4.5 hours with waiting on every hole on the back nine. This course is usually in great shape any time of the year but not so much to start the season.
Golden Oaks
Challenging course with multiple tee options. Tees, greens and fairways were in good shape but some areas show a lack of maintenance . Specifically the bunkers. MOST of them were in mediocre condition at best. By late May this is not a good sign.
Aeration
No one told us that the green had been aerated. Poor business! I drove one hour to play that day.
Greens
The greens had been aerated and no one said a word about it. If I would have known. I would not have driven one hour to play. I booked my tee-time on line. Shame on me!!
Favorite Course
Always love playing here. It is one of my favorite in Pennsylvania. The course is in amazing shape. Beautiful layout, perfect fairways and greens. Traps are kept up with nicely. This is a public course with a private club feel, and the rates are unbeatable. We are an hour away, but I’ll make the drive anytime I get a chance.
Always one of my favorite places to play
course is always in great shape. Since the weather was not ideal and the course received a lot of rain the night before, it was pretty wet everywhere. Not their fault at all. They were cart path only which was not good for me. Note, they don’t give out handicap flags. Over all course took the water really well and was in prime shape.
