Golden Oaks Golf Club
About
Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa. is considered one of Berks County's finest courses with a four-star rating from Golf Digest, which also named it as one of the top "Places to Play." It was voted the "Best Public Course" by readers of Berks County Magazine. Designed by local architect Jim Blaukovitch, the golf course has a classic design that appeals to players of all skill levels. The course has wide, inviting fairways but there are also some challenges provided by the rolling terrain, featuring elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Be prepared for a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. Trees line Golden Oaks Golf Club's fairways and strategically placed bunkers protect the greensides. The golf course has some tricky holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Hidden Gem
Course is a hidden gem. Not too many people know about it, which makes it special. As you pull up to the bagdrop you think your pulling up to a ski lodge. They have a range, and huge putting green to get warmed up before your round. The course itself is a treat, each hole has a unique feature that you can remember after your round. Greens were firm, fast, and true. Pace of play was good for a Saturday morning, and on course amenities included a bathroom for my way in the middle of each 9, as well as a beer cart, and fully stocked halfway house. The pro shop had a good selection of clothes from different manufactures and were a fair price. After our round we had dinner, which was fantastic with a good drink selection. Definitely worth the drive if you live further away.
Golden OAKS
Course in great shape. Pace of play slow front nine. Group in front, had a bunch of holes open. Staff must have told them to pickup the pace on back nine
Nice course but imrovements can be made.
I want to start by saying this course is definitely more difficult than others I have played. One of the biggest things I was disappointed about playing here was the sand...of course the sand was still saturated from rain the previous day but for the cost of playing here I would hope the grounds crew would have at least turned the sand over. It was impossible to play out of...I know...just take relief from it, but I honestly try to play my ball as it lies as much as possible. The course designer is the same as Foxchase but the sand in the bunkers very different. Please rake the bunkers...
On another note we played at 7:10am and there was not any real food options for us even at the turn. The girl working the snack shack was very kind but I had to convince her to sell me a partially cooked hot dog and she wasn't too happy but I compensated her for letting me buy it, the other guys I played with went hungry. No breakfast burritos or sandwich options so eat before you come or stop at Wawa.
The greens were the highlight of this course as they are huge and in excellent condition and very firm I even was able to get backspin action on some of my approach shots which was really cool to experience. They are difficult and I did have way too many 3 putts but I also sank some long putts because the greens do roll true. Also the cup is cut very sharp so we had a few go full circle and back out...ouch.
Okay, last thing I will mention is that the tee box colors are definitely different but I just wondered as to why?? The starter recommended we play from the black tees which were really the "whites"... well why don't you just make them white? Lol small thing but I guess it's an asthetic thing idk. Come here and play. It's definitely a challenge. I hope to score much better next time I play here.
Great layout Excellent condition
Great layout. Excellent condition. Friendly staff. I really enjoy playing here. Just wish it was closer.
Unbeatable value
I happily make the 1 hour 15 minute drive from Philly to play this course all the time. If you're in the area and haven't played this course then you're seriously missing out. Course is in unbelievable condition and the greens roll true. Feels like you're playing a private course. Hands down has been my favorite course to play in PA thus far. Very friendly service. Range is great. Food is also awesome. Get a cheeseburger from the halfway house at the turn. You're welcome
Great Course
I love this course. This was the 4th time this week I drove 1 hour and 30’minutes to play this course. 100% worth it. My son and I played and we had a blast. We got caught behind 2 hackers but it was ok. Didn’t stop us from throwing darts on the course and hitting bombs. We had a good time. It’s a great course.
Still fabulous!
Played here in the late morning round with family and friends. Staff were extremely friendly and cooperative. Course was in its usual fantastic shape. Sand traps and tee boxes and greens are looking good. Greens were a little bit slow but I believe that was due to weather conditions. If you’re in the area it’s a MUST play.
Golden Oaks review
Course was in very good shape, considering how dry yhe weather has been. Pace of play was a little slow.
Always Fun
I've played this course a number of times over the years. It's always in very nice shape and today was no exception. The greens are soft enough to spin the ball but they weren't slow when putting. Sand traps were I good shape and water on some holes makes them a little challenging. Can't wait to go back!
In very good shape
Even better than some years, the course is in good shape. Still too many land mines on the greens that golfers do not repair but that is true everywhere on public courses in PA. The Marshall should be out more with so many female groups playing in a row as they were not at all moving along as the starter stated they would.
Most notable improvement needs to be quality and consistency of bunker sand. I am not usually in them that often and these were inconsistent in depth, type of sand and quality of sand. Get some soft new sand guys.
Greens rolled very true as always. They felt like they rolled at about a 9 to 10. Fairways and tees were in very good shape. Course looked better than I have seen it the past 3-5 years. I get there 1-3 times per year on average.
Snack shed at turn needs to have hot sausages by mid afternoon. Those ladies are always friendly and are the most friendly of the staff there. The guys in the clubhouse are friendly too.
I wish this was closer to Hershey than it is or I would play it regularly. Love the course!!!!
