Golden Oaks Golf Club
About
Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa. is considered one of Berks County's finest courses with a four-star rating from Golf Digest, which also named it as one of the top "Places to Play." It was voted the "Best Public Course" by readers of Berks County Magazine. Designed by local architect Jim Blaukovitch, the golf course has a classic design that appeals to players of all skill levels. The course has wide, inviting fairways but there are also some challenges provided by the rolling terrain, featuring elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Be prepared for a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. Trees line Golden Oaks Golf Club's fairways and strategically placed bunkers protect the greensides. The golf course has some tricky holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Very good layout.
First time here; really good layout, lots of holes up and down hills make even the shorter ones interesting. Greens much larger than what I was used to; even with a few not-so-pristine spots on them, they still rolled really well.
nice course
greens need some work. a lot of ball marks. need aeration. I do like the course
One of the nicest courses and layouts you'll play in the area....
Golden Oaks is a superb course with amazing layouts and fun holes. The par 5 18th hole is legendary. I cannot wait to play this again.
Always a nice place to play.
The course is always in good condition, plays fare, nice bar to get beer after playing.
great course. nice conditions. can't wait to go back!
Great course. Nice conditions. Great staff. Can't wait to go back and play again. Will definitely recommend to others.
Golden Oaks
beautiful rolling hills, well maintained course. A great variety of holes. A must play if in the area.
A James Blaukovitch Course
As a reference point this course is by the same architect as for Bella Vista and Honeybrook. If you like one of these courses, you'll probably like the others. Try them all, I'd say.
Golden Oaks has more length than the other two but the teebox choice is a wide range. (7100, 6600, 6000, 5500, 5100) Fairways are wide, greens are large, trouble is there but usually not to close to the fairways. Two par three's are over water, but again, to large greens so they ought not to be too intimidating. The challenge is much determined by what length you choose.
I'll take the views at Golden Oaks over the housing development at Bella Vista. I prefer the greens at Honeybrook. They have more character. Golden Oaks' are big, slippery, and subtle, but mostly flat. All three of these are pretty nice places to play.
Greens are true.
Perfectly manicured with very nice landscaping. Definitely coming back.
Worth the trip
The course was in excellent shape. Very good layout that is playable for all with 5 tees to chose from with significant difference in length. Excellent greens and fairways. Good clubhouse. I was greeted by starter as soon as I pulled up , teed off promptly at my time and played in just over 4 hours. The course was busy but not over crowded when I played. Rates are very reasonable. A little out of the way but worth the drive. One more thing that stood out was the excellent landscaping on the course.
Great layout but overbooked.
The course is one of my personal favorites. Playable with subtle but real challenges. The tee boxes were a bit beat up and the sand was not in great shape (we have had some rain but raking is cheap). We got a good deal on golf now for a Sunday afternoon but apparently so did way to many other players. 5 1/2 hours later I was not enjoying the great price. I would always pay more for a course that mandates the correct tee usage and a polite ranger to keep the pace steady. Waiting 20 minutes for a tee while you watch the kids in front of you hook balls into the woods from the tips is not enjoyable.
Prim and Proper
From the first tee box until the 18th green, Golden Oaks was fantastic. The course as well as the cart path and off course are well maintained. Compared to other courses in the general area there are less than a handful that can stand up to Golden Oaks. The highlight for me, were the greens. Soft enough to be receptive to shots, but still firm enough to be fast!
Eye Friendly !
Some tough holes with water hazards that come into play.
Lots of Uphill and Downhill holes.
Wide Fairways make long holes more playable.
Greens are in great shape and roll well.
Rough is not to tough to recover from with a off target shot.
.
Booked a foursome...It was driving rain, very cold and windy...only 2 of the 4 could make it out to golf in those conditions. No credit (voucher) was given at the course to come back and paly again. paid for 4 and only 2 played, thought they would recognize that. Became a very expensive round of golf in horrible weather conditions...
Always A Pleasure
I manage to visit Golden Oaks about four times a year. No matter whether it is spring, summer or fall the course is always in great condition. I especially like the greens that are quick without being ridiculouslly fast. The halfway house also has the best golf course burgers around.
great course great deal
country club conditions with a great price one of the better public courses in eastern p.a. can be as hard as you like with 4 sets of tees
very challenging great round !
course very well maintained. good pin placement. friendly staff
Great layout.
I think this course has a great layout and very good condition.
Greens are big ,great shape and somewhat fast. The course is not that long. but plays longer because most of the time you are playing uphill. Only thing I can find wrong with this course are the par three's are not marked with a distance and the tee boxes are long. Ok for a golfer who plays the course a lot.
Very good course. Great value.
The course design and condition were both very good. We played the white tees at a little over 6000 yards.. Two of the par threes were a little short from those tees, but it was extremely windy (30 plus mph) when we played and we didn't feel like abusing ourselves. It would definitely be a good challenge from the gold tees at around 6600 yards. Good golf course terrain with lots of elevation changes. Fairways were generous. No really scary tee shots. Greens well protected. Water comes into play on four or five holes. I will play here again.
Very large greens and great layout
Originally was to be a private course open to public. Well maintained (greens had been aerated a week earlier)
Good staff, nice lounge with food cart at turn.
Country Club ammenities at a public course.
I heard very good reviews about this course so I had to check it out for myself. It exceeded my expectations. From tee to green on every hole, there was a full cart path, manicured fairways with 3 different cuts, expertly trimmed trees and shrubs and greens that were challenging but fair. There was airation going on but that is everywhere this time of year. They were cleaning the plugs as they went so it did not interfere with play. I will definitely go back this year.
