Great round
Started with a 6am tee time and it was an amazing day. Cours is great, staff is great, sand is bad. The sand was more like grainy dirt.
All in all though this is a great course.
Terrible sand.
I lived near oak forest my whole life and would play this all the time. This course could be amazing if they just figured out the drainage and fix the bunkers. Every single bunker you CANNOT play out of. They need to eliminate 3/4 of the bunkers and just keep the green side ones maintained. I will not be playing here again ever till this sand is fixed. You can’t play golf by taking it out of the bunker every hole. Kind of pathetic.
Thank you for playing The Dunne and for sharing feedback about your experience. Rest assured, we will be addressing bunkers and much more as part of near-future improvements. We hope to see you soon in the meantime. Please send us a note directly at info.georgedunne@forestpreservegolf.com if you'd like to discuss more.
Excellent course for the money
The course is somewhat challenging, with numerous sand bunkers in Play. Water is in play on 5 holes. Overall, an entertaining course. However, the bunkers need attention - many of them have mud at the low points. There are numerous divots that need filling.
Course layout great. Sand traps in awful shape but it’s still early in the year. Cart paths could use some work. For the price on a Saturday it is good, fix the sand traps and it would be great.
Decent course, sand needs some work
Played 18 and decided to keep going for only a $17 replay rate with cart. Course was very fun but pretty wet and was cart path only so the pace was a little slow. The sand didn't get raked and few traps actually had rakes so we just dropped off to the side. Looking forward to coming back when it's a little more dry. Staff are also some of the friendliest I've come across.
Love this course
GD is one of my favorite courses in the area for the price. Many challenging holes but not hard enough to scare off any beginners. Staff is super friendly and cart service was top notch. The only improvement needed here is the bunkers. Overall 9/10.
GWD
It was a day after it rained so it was cart path only. Grounds very nice. Semi difficult course which I like because it lets me concentrate more. Some crazy doglegs.
Great value, terrible sand traps
Challenging course that sneaks up on me and causes heartache at various points. My complaint: the sand traps are simply exposed dirt. No sand at all.
Unkempt Sand Traps
Great layout for a public course.Condition for early season was very good with the exception of Sand traps. They were either submerged in water or hard as concrete.Lost 3 new balls in Sand traps around the greens, since my fishing skills were nowhere to be found. After the round, spoke to employee in proshop and asked about sand traps and he said,"Yeah,83 traps on the course, started the one on #3,going to take up to 3yrs to finish them all"
Bottom line:
Will be back playing, just not as often.
Beware Robert the starter
Decent cook county course. Good layout, Par 5 12th hole is cool with double water hazards.
Beware sand bunkers that are mostly dirt and water.
Sad exception is ROBERT the starter. Avoid him at all costs.
Guy starts his day mad and aims to bring you down.
Yells at you when getting your cart. Yells at you about muddy shoes in the cart. Yells at you about cart path. Follows you around the course. Yells at you if you smile. Yells at you if you ask him to speed up group ahead. A starter has never intimidated me but this guy is an off-duty patrol power-tripping on the 1st hole, 4th hole, 10th hole and 18th hole. He will follow you around the course. Will not be coming back.
Great, but ...
One of my favorite courses even though it demands a lot, but ... the bunkers desperately need work!
