Ledges Golf Club
About
The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley is tucked away in the Pioneer Valley, an area of western Massachusetts known for its lush, rolling hills. It is a favorite amongst locals since it is one of the best values in the region. The course enjoys scenic views that stretch to Mt. Tom and the Holyoke Range. It is on the shorter side at just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, but the dramatic changes in elevation make it seem much longer. Most of the greens are raised with steeply sloped sides, making accuracy essential since missing them by even just a few feet will result in a serious penalty. The golf course has a heavily wooded front nine that seamlessly transitions into a more open back nine featuring links-style holes. The Ledges is a shotmaker's course that offers several interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Ledges Number Four, Par 4, 276. The fairway is narrow, with precious little bail-out to its right. A driveable hole for the bold. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

# Nine, Par 5, 528. These bunkers will snare many an approach shot that is sliced or pushed. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The 10th is a classic downhill par-5 of 564; it’s a three-shotter for all but very long, straight hitters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The massive bunker that sides green eleven could be a nightmare for those who aren’t all that handy with a sand wedge. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Eighteen (from the left rough): Great finisher where you’ll want to avoid every one of the seven fairway bunkers, including these three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The final hole as seen from its right rough. Getting up and down around this green is no simple task. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Wet course, good shape
The course is in good shape, despite of the rain we have been having. It is a wet course to begin with, but most holes are cart path only, the greens are great, rolling true., fairways are good but very soggy, no ball rollout, makes for a much longer course, adjust your tee box accordingly.
One of my top 5 courses!
I've played over 100 public courses from Floria to the Carolina's and throughout New England.
I'm ranking this course in to my top 5 courses in New England.
Large flat elevated tee boxes, excellent fairway and bunker conditions (even considering they had torrential rains the night before.
Greens were a good speed, not to fast but fast enough.
And in additon to the excellent conditions the layout and view!
Great day for golf
I have been to the Ledges numerous times and never fails. Despite a ongoing severe drought in Western Ma the course is in excellent shape, the greens, fairways and tee boxes all in great shape.
Looking forward to going back in the near future.
New course for me
First time playing "The Ledges". Starter asked if I had been told about fairway aeration? Answer was no, but the maintenance crew did an excellent job. Found very few plugs left. Pace of play was excellent. Hopefully will get another round there before season ends.
Great Day Beautiful Views
Great view of Mt Tom course was in outstanding shape Good challenge from black tees
Beautiful layout
Took the 80 minute drive from Albany on a beautiful summer day. Tees & fairways were in good condition. I’d rate them 7 out of 10. Greens were in beautiful shape but rolled slower than they looked. Rated 9 out of 10. Great value for the money. Scenery & Over all layout was 9 out of 10.
Anybody enjoy a 5+ hour round?
Given the weather, the course was in very good condition (with only an occasional brown patch). Greens were consistent. Bunkers were more dirt and pebbles than sand. But, the real experience killer was the extremely slow pace of play, with nary a single Ranger (if there was a beverage cart, we’d probably still be finishing our round).
Ledges Always Good
Always worth the trip from Central Mass. to play Ledges. Fairways lush despite drought and greens in good shape. Play slowed down on back nine, but to be expected on a Saturday.
Need some more TLC
So I started playing The Ledges about 10 years ago. The first time I was going there a friend said to me "You're going to enjoy The Ledges, Mark. I really did. I was impressed by the course conditions and all the great service they had to offer. There were Starters,Rangers, beverage carts, etc. Sadly, this place is in demise. The pristine course conditions I once experienced are no longer there. There were stones in the bunkers the size of half dollars and none of the edges had been trimmed. Also there were no starters or Rangers present and no beverage carts out on this day. We had three foursomeswalking in front of us so there was nowhere to go and the pace of play was quite slow. I went into the pro shop after my round to discuss the conditions of the bunkers. Apparently they didn't want to hear it. There was a young lady in there who I assumed was the acting superintendent. She told me I was more than welcome to go pick out the stones from the bunkers if I wanted to. She told me she sends out guys everyday to pick out stones from the bunkers. That's not possible. I won't be back until the conditions improve at this course. Especially for what they're charging and the product they're putting out. Too bad. I once enjoyed this course
