Ledges Golf Club

About
The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley is tucked away in the Pioneer Valley, an area of western Massachusetts known for its lush, rolling hills. It is a favorite amongst locals since it is one of the best values in the region. The course enjoys scenic views that stretch to Mt. Tom and the Holyoke Range. It is on the shorter side at just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, but the dramatic changes in elevation make it seem much longer. Most of the greens are raised with steeply sloped sides, making accuracy essential since missing them by even just a few feet will result in a serious penalty. The golf course has a heavily wooded front nine that seamlessly transitions into a more open back nine featuring links-style holes. The Ledges is a shotmaker's course that offers several interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Ledges Number Four, Par 4, 276. The fairway is narrow, with precious little bail-out to its right. A driveable hole for the bold. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

# Nine, Par 5, 528. These bunkers will snare many an approach shot that is sliced or pushed. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The 10th is a classic downhill par-5 of 564; it’s a three-shotter for all but very long, straight hitters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The massive bunker that sides green eleven could be a nightmare for those who aren’t all that handy with a sand wedge. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Eighteen (from the left rough): Great finisher where you’ll want to avoid every one of the seven fairway bunkers, including these three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

The final hole as seen from its right rough. Getting up and down around this green is no simple task. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2022

Beautiful all around!
Great pace of play and paired with a nice group! Conditions were good even though it was a wet week.
Good value and a top tier muni for the area.
I admit I have only played a couple of courses in the area, but by reputation, The Ledges would be a consider a must play for visitors to the area.
We were the first to tee off and while it's been a tough stretch of weather for the region, it should be noted that 8 of the holes were cart path only. There are a lot of dog-leg lefts and for folks who play a heavy slice, the narrow tree-lined fairways on several holes will be a challenge.
Considering the poor weather, we found the one perfect day to play The Ledges. Spirits were high. The welcome from the pro shop to the starter was warm.
The holes are mostly interesting. But again, you might want to pack a couple of extra sleeves. The greens lean small, but were receptive. We were the first to tee off and I was fixing 5-8 ball marks on several greens. The rolls was inconsistent IMHO. Bunkers need a bit of a refresh and the sands was light, but still playable.
We were the first group out so commenting on pace of play is never accurate. The starter pleaded with us with a kind smile reminding us that we were setting the pace of play. Our foursome finished the round in 3:25 and he seemed shocked to see us at the finish. Again, just my second time playing, but does this mean the rounds are slow? IDK. It was a holiday and the course/parking lot were clearly filling up as we were leaving.
I live about 90 minutes away, but it's definitely a course I'd leave on my list. But fair warning, this course requires a golfer who can hit a straight ball. There are some wide open holes and short par 3's and 4's so the opportunity to score well is there.
Great course!!
Course was in great condition and beautifully laid out
Pristine course
A wonderful course! Beautiful in every way and in great condition. My only complaint is that the yellow and red tees are together on every hole
Gem of a course
Love coming here. Excellent layout. Well maintained and challenging
a pleasant last round of the year
Such a gorgeous November Sunday with temps in the low 60s. Our foursome stripped to short sleeves for half the round. I had my best 9 holes of the season on the frontside, birdies on 3,4,5 & 9 (aerated greens and all). Staff was skimpy and distracted but that's to be expected on their last day of the season. Thanks for staying open so we might enjoy the day in this way.
Becoming a favorite of mine
I always enjoy playing this course. Nice, fun layout with some open fairways, and do or die Par 4s. Greens are in excellent condition even late in they year.
Will definitely be back soon.
Always fun
Course was in very good shape, with the exception that greens gave been slow to recover from aeration a month ago.
Well Maintained and Fun Course
My fourth time playing at the Ledges and loved it. Love the layout, challenging but not overwhelming. Friendly staff, clean facilities. Restaurant is pretty good with healthy menu and reasonable price. Highly recommend.
A lot of Leaves on the grounds. Very difficult to find my ball, even it was on fairways
This is the course I lost most of balls, while usually I don’t lost ball too much.
