Decent
If you can find a hot deal it’s worth the money. Only problem is the starter seems to have issues with the Golf now reservations. I had a 7am start and arrived at 6:15 to warm up. Starter didn’t see me on their books but after showing him my reservation, he was able to get me out at 6:30. Finished in 4 hours walking for $30. Overall friendly staff and decent practice facilities.
This course is poorly managed
The morning crew allowed too many single riders so the course ran out of carts and fell behind schedule. The afternoon crew continued giving walkers preference over riders even after there were plenty of carts available. I was at the counter when a newly-arrived walker was told he was on the tee, whereas I had been waiting over 30 minutes and was told to continue waiting! I objected, but to no avail. By the time we started, 50 minutes late, there was little chance of finishing. At the 14th green our cart ran out of power. I called the club house and the food service -- no answer, they had gone home. So my wife (87) and I (82) lugged our heavy cart bags from the furthest part of the course to our car. It seems obvious to me that calls to the clubhouse should go to the cart barn after hours and the cart man should make sure everyone gets off the course safely. The incompetent course manager here is leading this course to a massive law suit that could shut it down -- suppose some poor guy has a heart attack lugging his heavy cart bag to his car and drops dead on the course? The course would be accused of massive negligence and it would have no defense!
golf fix, continued
another overcast June gloom day for a nice game of golf, and so it was. There are country club courses and there are nice, friendly public courses. Los Amigos is one of latter.
First and last time here
Already drove out of my way for this place. I had set aside 4.5 hours on a Monday late morning tee time and could only get through 14 holes before I had to bail up against a hard out time limit for somewhere else I had to be. The pace of play was horrendous. No course marshals anywhere in sight. I usually don’t take the time to do these reviews but this was one I felt necessary.
Longest 6.5 hours. For a Sunday Afternoon
Late start: 12:42 pm booked time: 1:12 pm actual tee off time. 5 some ahead of the twosome in front of us. Wait at every hole!
Finish time was 7:42 pm! Over a 6 hour round. Too long.
Very poor pace of play
Our teetimes were 1038 and 1045am . They were 40 minutes behind at that time after we finally teed off we finished the 1st hole and there were 6 groups waiting on the 2nd tee box I finally left the course after the 4.5 hour front nine. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE AT ALL.
Cancel
I called and spoke with the pro shop Gary at 530am to advise that I had an emergency and wouldn’t be able to make the tee time at 851am. Gary said no problem thanks for calling .. I get an email yesterday that I was being charge 125 for no show . Even though I called to cancel while having an emergency.. how unprofessional
Not Happt With Staff
I'm giving Los Amigos a one star rating only because of the staff member on the date of the round I was supposed to play.
It was partially my fault as I did show up to play however I forgot my wallet. I asked the starter if I could cancel without being charged because I live too far away so I wouldn't be able to go home, grab my wallet and return in time for my scheduled tee time. The starter said he would cancel my reservation without being charged and then today I received a email notifying me that I was in fact charged for not showing up.
I did show up and wasn't given the opportunity to pay with my debit card number that I was offering to give to be charged.
Cool County Course
First time at Los Amigos and overall was a fun day on the links. The pace of play bottlenecked at the 3rd tee box and remained sluggish for a few holes. The pace picked up and was good until the last few holes. The course was nicely maintained, including the traps. Definitely good bang for your buck. We will be back!
Bait & Switch Tee Time :(
I booked a tee time for $24 bucks and the course cashier insisted on charging me their rate of $36.50. I tried explaining to the cashier how online bookings work and even tried showing her the screen shot with the price and the words “Cart INCLUDED” but she wasn’t having it….she was sticking with what they charge….She bluntly told me I would have to take it up with GolfNow. I eventually pled my case to the General Manager and he honored the $24 rate after seeing my screen shots of the tee times and my reservation. He wouldn’t commit to what price was correct…So who’s to know who’s up to these pricing shenanigans….GolfNow or Los Amigos…...Either way, if you allow your course to be on GolfNow, please honor the rates,…That way we don’t have to argue with rude teenagers running the register. As I rushed to pay and and sign for my cart, after wasting 15 minutes of precious daylight…..the cashier left me with this unsolicited parting gem …..”You’re WELCOME!” Like she was doing me the favor. I appreciate the GM honoring the rate, but he has to do better with his team. It’s impossible to un-train rude…..but at least train them how online bookings work. As for the course….it’s been a few years since I had played it…..the layout is fantastic,…it’s always been a local favorite of mine….but the condition is well below the other county courses. The greens need some TLC….a cut and roll would be nice
Pleasant but SLOW.
It's a relaxed atmosphere. A flat course with a few interesting doglegs. Pace is very slow. The course cries out for a couple RANGERS to hurry up the slowpokes!!!!
