Dirt and overgrown Clovers...yay! Photo submitted by PrettyPrettyGood on 06/13/2016
The course was slightly confusing for us first timers. But overall great experience for the value. I'd definitely play again when I come back in town.
Enjoyable Course, but Needs a Marshal!
I've played Oak Hills numerous times. There have been many improvements made to the tee boxes and fairways. The greens are in great shape and have weathered the hot summer very well.
They have to do something about slow play, however. We skipped three holes on the front nine and still took 4-1/2 hours to play. That is unacceptable. Six players (a sixsome) in three carts had the entire course backed up.
I recommend playing this course on a weekday when it is less crowded. Every time I've played on the weekend recently, it has been SLOW.
Oak Hills Golf Course
This course offers a well-rounded and enjoyable playing experience, with a layout that challenges golfers of all skill levels. During my visit, the heat and lack of rainfall had impacted the greens, fairways, and tee boxes, though the overall course conditions remained respectable.
The back nine is notably demanding, featuring two strategically designed par 3s and a closing par 5 that requires both accuracy and course management. While the facility does not include a traditional driving range, it provides a functional warm-up area and an outstanding short-game practice space.
In all, this is a course well worth playing. Its thoughtful design, variety of holes, and practice amenities make it a destination I would gladly return to in the future.
Do not play here
This is seriously such a rarded course layout. The holes are dumb and the greens are slower than molasses. Not to mention they closed a hole and still made you pay full price. Fairways are burned out. Waste of 50 bucks
Patchy
The course was in fair condition.
All areas of the course were patchy, including the greens.
Oak Hills is worth playing when conditions are much better.
Great Course
Awesome course to play. A favorite of our group.
The staff is one of the friendliest of any course I have ever been to.
Not too difficult to play, highly recommend.
We did get stuck behind a really slow group last time and it was kinda miserable.
Not the courses fault, aside from that it was great
Confusing Layout and terrible conditions
The greens are basically fairway and play so bumpy and slow that there’s very little chance to make putts. The layout is very confusing. Especially Hole 12. The blind shots don’t allow you to get an accurate distance for approaches. Staff was friendly and food was quick. For $45 it is a deal but I don’t plan on coming back. I’d happily pay $20 more for a course that plays like a proper golf course.
Short, easy, difficult to see
Very short and simple course. My only complaint is that it is very difficult to see ahead of you on several of the holes. Because of this there were multiple times when players behind us were unknowingly hitting balls very close to us.
Awful Fairways and Painted Greens
When we got to the course the greens looked great to the eye until it started raining and our balls we were rolling on the putting green started turning green and we realized the putting green was painted green. Figured maybe just the putting green was that way, but nope it was all the holes we played. Apparently nobody there knows how to repair ball marks either.
Fsirways are generally like hitting off of hard clay. The patchy grass intertwined with weeds is unevenly mowed where it appears to be grass.
Bottom line: worst course I have ever played. This is the only course I have ever plsyed in TN so maybe they’re all like that. 👎
