Short, easy, difficult to see
Very short and simple course. My only complaint is that it is very difficult to see ahead of you on several of the holes. Because of this there were multiple times when players behind us were unknowingly hitting balls very close to us.
Awful Fairways and Painted Greens
When we got to the course the greens looked great to the eye until it started raining and our balls we were rolling on the putting green started turning green and we realized the putting green was painted green. Figured maybe just the putting green was that way, but nope it was all the holes we played. Apparently nobody there knows how to repair ball marks either.
Fsirways are generally like hitting off of hard clay. The patchy grass intertwined with weeds is unevenly mowed where it appears to be grass.
Bottom line: worst course I have ever played. This is the only course I have ever plsyed in TN so maybe they’re all like that. 👎
Do Not Recommend
Worst fairways I have ever played on and painted greens. Not worth $25, much less $45. Course seems very neglected. Never playing again.
challenging course
The course is very hilly. The signage is not too clear. The pace was slow. But it was enjoyable.
Enjoyed It
Played on Mother’s Day, so it wasn’t packed. Really can’t beat it for the money. Staff was great. Food was great. Range was hitting into a net, that sucked. Overall better shape than most.
Excellent Greens, but Play was SLOOOOOOOW
I have played Oak Hills numerous times over the past (7) years, and this round (on a Sunday) was the worst, in terms of pace of play, ever. Our foursome waited on every tee box on holes 1 --4. When we arrived at hole #5, the group ahead of us had not yet teed off. After skipping several holes, finishing the back nine, then playing the holes we skipped, we finished in 4 hours, 30 minutes. The group we skipped on hole #5 WAS STILL ON THE COURSE on hole #17. Ridiculous! Oak Hills needs a full-time marshal on the weekends.
BTW, the greens were in excellent condition. Due to a harsh middle Tennessee winter, the fairways are a few weeks behind in "greening up".
I will play Oak Hills again, but I recommend playing during the week to avoid the crowds.
Course conditions
Not worth the money. Have played this course before and felt the same way. It seems like they are doing work to the course which may enhance it but not sure about that. Upon booking, it would be nice if they explained what the conditions are going to be like. One par 4 hole is not playable at all, but they did add a 85 yard par 3 to give you a “full 18”. Greens were punched hard with sand all over the green and around. Fairways were like hitting off of concrete and tee boxes felt the same if you could find grass. Tee time prices should reflect the course conditions and this courses never have.
Lastly we were not told about cart path only before playing (which the fairways look like they hadn’t seen water in a month, so not sure what that was about “. We then got harassed by an older man (who we saw later driving his cart across a newly sodded fairway) yelling at us to get off the fairways or they would kick us off the course and ban us.
Won’t go back.
Not for beginners
The course was good. They holes are super close to each other. So if you a beginner. This course may not be the one for you. The course layout was a bit all over the place sometime it was confusing where the next hole was. But in all it wasn’t terrible.
