Nestled between the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea volcanoes, The Village Course at Waikoloa (formerly known as Waikola Village Golf Club) has a beautiful and unique location that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The verdant, rolling terrain is dotted with stands of young trees and lakes that were incorporated into the golf course’s design. Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course’s designer, tried to maintain the natural assets of the landscape while adding a few challenges such as fairways bunkers and doglegs. The golf course also features traditional raised greens that are subject to forceful prevailing winds. Although the course is challenging enough for the serious golfer, the relaxed pace and beautiful scenery appeal to players of all skill levels. Locals often consider The Village Course at Waikoloa one of Hawaii’s best-kept secrets.

It's golf in Hawaii so how bad can it be.....but
It's golf in Hawaii so why am I complaining? Well...I got a hot deal on golf now for $90 so we bought it. Then at the check in counter they said we shouldn't have gotten that deal because that's for residents...but they let it go. Well...to be honest I think I got robbed at that price. The fairways were awful. The grass was diseased or something. You could hit a beautiful shot right down the center and chances are you're still playing off of dirt or diseased fairway. Greens and tee boxes were okay and not a problem. The majority of the sand traps were not sand at all but large pebbles. Yes...like rock pebbles. You'd think of all places that you'd have no problem getting plenty of sand for your traps....Hawaii would be iit. Bottom line....if you're on vacation, pay the extra $100-$150 dollars and play Mauna Kea. You won't regret it. You did'n't come to Hawaii to play an overpriced municipal course. I'm sure this place has seen better days and for their sake I hope it won't be long before they turn it back around and make it an enjoyable place for those who aren't paying the resident fee.
Poor conditions
I’ve played this course before and it was enjoyable. This time, the course hadn’t been watered for a month per an employee, so the fairways and greens were pretty brown which was frustrating since I’d paid in advance and wasn’t able to get a refund. I know things are tough with the pandemic, however paying regular rates with the course conditions are they were, didn’t sit well with me.

Lots of rules and Covid related procedures which frankly, are unnecessary. U can’t get a virus off a cracker wrapper that has been out in the sun. Just sayin.

Golfing Again “I’m The Captain Right Now”
Finally playing again , Wonderful staff, such a pleasure to play Waikoloa Village Course. Pace of play was spot on Never feeling rushed or slowed down. Should be able to provide Beverage Cart person on course safely by not selling food but just drinks in cans or bottled water.

Great golf course. Greens extremely hard to read.
I play this course on a regular basis, Village resident and Men's Club member. It has been closed for almost two months ( Corona Virus), but it was still maintained by the greens crew. It is in the best condition it has ever been.
Very Pleasant Surprise
Love golfing on the Big Island.
Happened upon a course that is NOT a resort course (where they charge exorbitant prices)
Waikoloa Village Course.
A cut-above a muni course.
In very, very nice condition!
Has it all - dogleg right and left, water, up and down.
Have been back several times.

Waikoloa Village Course is a very user-friendly course, well maintained, with a friendly staff, and reasonable rates.

Everything was perfect. and the covid 19 restrictions were very much appreciated.
Great golf experience
The golf course was great and they had the best solution regarding the pins. Excellent choice. The only negative experience was trying to set up a account and booking on line with Golfnow.com this was terrible .
