The Legends at Orange Lake Resort
About
Orange Lake Resort & Country Club in Kissimmee boasts four different golf courses, two championship courses and two nine-hole layouts. Undoubtedly, the most popular course is the Legends. This Arnold Palmer-designed layout is like getting two courses in one. The front nine is a traditional links that is wide-open and windy, which makes club selection particularly challenging. It is a good warm-up for the even more demanding back nine. On the backside, you will be playing through mature oaks and towering pine trees that border the lush, winding fairways. It is quite a feat to successfully maneuver your tee shots through the narrow openings of the trees, which gives it the feel of a course in North Carolina. The signature hole is the 13th. This daunting hole features a large green that is shielded by a rock wall, surrounded by tall grass, and protected in back by a sand trap.

Good Pace For A Change
We attend the PGA Show every year and stay in a villa at Orange Lake. We did play this course regularly until a few years ago when it was managed by Integrity Golf and got very run down. It has been back in good form the past few years. The greens were smooth and I stimped one and it was 8.5. The pace of play here is usually an issue but today we teed of at 12:06 and finished in just under 4 hours which is great. Weekend golf here is usually very slow. My colleagues even replayed the front 9. There was a minor problem at the start. I dropped my clubs at the club drop and parked my car. When I arrived back at the club drop my clubs were already on a cart so I attached my GPS holder to the cart, tossed on my laser, and went to the proshop to check in. When I returned to the clubdrop my clubs were back on a stand and the cart with my GPS holder and laser was gone. Fortunately the cart boys managed to recover my property and all turned out OK except that I didn't play the 1st hole.
Very nice Course. Much nicer than the "Reserve" course
Orange Lake Legends
Awesome golf course, tees, greens, fairways ,rough and sand traps. Greens keeper has done a great job..Each hole can stand on its own, lots of water and great variety in the type of holes. Played 3 times this week, the first time in 3 years. The greens were just top dressed and still played well. One off the nice courses in this area, A mature course which demands respect and some thought as to where you wish to place your shots. I would include the Legends as a course to play in the Orlando area.
Legends are made at orange lake
Showed up early to hit some range balls, we were asked if we wanted to get off early but were in no way rushed, which we did after a little practice. we eventually caught a twosome who were excellent golfers in every aspect of the game who were slowed by a three some who were struggling a bit at times. We backed off and took some extra hits and had a wonderful enjoyable game at a terrific course with terrific employees and patrons. Life is good.
No regrets ...but
Played legends course on a Sat afternoon with a 1:40 tee time. Walk ups also buying tee times and then with no starter on duty it was every man for himself on first tee - with my group waiting about 15 minutes for “our turn”. Course has some really nice holes - especially on the back nine. Greens in good (not great) condition. Bunkers ok. We ran our of light so could not finish and as we drove off came to find 7 players on 18th green ....having a putt off or similar.
So, overall course was pretty good, but complete absence of any on course staff (eg starter) was a bit off putting
Great fun
Loved the course and the two guys I played with were super nice. Anywhere I break par the first try im okay with!
Great value for the money/location
Great day of golf. Course in good condition. Greens running true and holding. Surely worth the price value ratio.
First time great experience
Considering all the rain from the day before this course was in great shape. We enjoyed the reasonably wide fairways. Played the black tees which made for a good but fair challenge for 13 handicappers.
Excellent course
Course was in Excellent shape and the greens very fast. We really enjoyed the course consider no cart person for food and drinks.
New Management
I have been playing this course for the better part of 30 years. Approximately eight years ago, Orange Lake chose to have Integrity Golf management maintain the golf courses at Orange Lake. What a mistake. In a matter of 4 years, the courses took a real dive. Fortunately for us owners, Orange Lake management took it upon themselves to turn the management over to Brown Golf which I believe took place in 2017. It has once again become one of the premier courses in central Florida. Therefore, our group will be once again be playing in the neighborhood of 100 rounds of golf at Orange Lake in 2020.
Always a great experience
This course is always in great condition and the staff is friendly and professional. Great practice facility as well.
Good value
I was down to Florida for family vacation. Planned for 1 round. I picked this course cause it was about a 4 star rating, and about a 20min drive from where I was staying.
I have golf at Myrtle Beach a few times, so I kind of used that experience to compare. I would say it was comparable. I golfed early in the morning, so by the end of the game, I was right around the 4 hr Mark. I was paired up with a gentleman at first, and then another twosome joined our group. (Which slowed the pace down), but I was in the mindset that I’m on vacation, so no need to rush.
After the front nine, I was by myself, and waited a bit. I played two balls cause I had time, and I wasn’t holding up the group behind me.
The only complaint that I would have, which can’t be controlled, was it rained a couple days before hand. So, was a bit saturated in spots, but I didn’t see any pooling water really. So it was good.
Beautiful course!
Fairways and greens in excellent condition. 5 tee boxes made it fair for all levels of golfer. Layout was challenging but fair. Will definitely play again and recommend to friends!
