Panther Lake at Orange County National

We played yesterday, May 3rd. The ranger came by on the 3rd hole to tell us that he had asked the foursome in front of us to move faster. It was a 5 hour round. On the second nine, we waited for the foursome in front of us for every shot. When we arrived at the first par 3 on the back nine, we had to wait for the foursome to get off the green and the foursome in back of us was also waiting. 2 other golfers passed by. When we got to the next tee, they wer there. They jumped in front of several groups. I called the pro shop to send the ranger and they said he would be there in 10 minutes. No one showed up. I called back a second time and spoke to someone else. He also said he would send someone but no one came. I guess they don’t care. And also, all the greens are brown and burnt. And you still pay full price. They don’t even warn you. There are many other golf courses in the area with perfect conditions at a lesser price. I do not recommend this golf course.

I’ve heard great things about panther and never had an issue on crooked cat. Paid full price with no warning, only to find out they were killing the greens to replace them in the next 3-4 days when the course will shut down until October. I would’ve understood with some warning when we booked. But the price was unfair considering the conditions.

The green looked damaged and infected. Then they shaved it down to almost up playable.

There were a lot of dirk patches all over, even around many of the greens.

The course was overall pretty nice. The fairways aren’t plush, but playable. Greens medium speed. Great pace of play, 4 hr 5 minutes. Friendly staff.

Course was in good shape. Greens were a bit patchy, but the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. As I understand they are closing Panther Lake this summer to redo the greens just like they did to Crooked Cat last summer. Good value for Orange County residents

Very windy on Saturday. The greens are due to be re-done next month. Some of the front nine greens could be bigger.

Great facility. Someone more familiar with the course (and better than me) said Panther Lake is the easier of the 2 courses. Several sets of tees allow for a fun and payable experience for all skill levels. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens were all in great shape. I didn't visit any of the other facilities on the property, but the driving range is massive, and includes areas for chipping and pitching. Pace of play was encouraged by rangers on the course. Our Friday 4'some which included players on 3 different tees finished 18 in just over 4 hours. The guy in the clubhouse at check-in could have been a bit friendlier, but oh well. He wasn't rude, just really nonchalant. Overall, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place.

Family member came from Jersey and was very impressed with the course, good time.

Love this course. Fun layout. Fair for everyone.

Greens were very slow and grainy with lots of poana, which made them bumpy. Rest of course was in decent shape.
