Oaks National Golf Club

Played this course for the first time, course layout is fine, staff is really friendly but the conditions were not good. We know there was a lot of rain last week but it looked like the teeboxes were out of shape far longer thank thar. I the course dries up then it will be fine to play.

If you remember how awesome Greenlefe in Polk County was…and then it wasn’t…Oaks National is very similar, Oaks National is an amazing layout but the conditions are an abomination. Little to no grass on the greens, what grass there is fairway height. We lost balls in the FAIRWAY. Course hasn’t been mowed in months. The cart paths are in shambles and the course is a swamp which being in Florida isn’t a surprise but there appears to be little to no drainage. As a former greens superintendent I can tell them that tossing about grass seed is not going to fix the problems. They need to slit seed, aerate, verticut and shut down the course for at least 3-4 months to allow some grow in and rehabilitation. The pro shop folks were fine they undersold how awful the conditions were but did tell us it was pretty rough and i’m sure they are embarrassed.

I believe this course gets a bad rap from golfers who expect US Open conditions and who play sandlot golf. Don’t blame the course for losing your balls. If you don’t want to lose balls, keep them in play. The course is also not to blame for its owners. The owners don’t invest the money needed to improve conditions. But that’s okay because I like to work on my game and Oaks National allows me to do that whenever the time fits my schedule and at a fair price. The course has far more character design than most of these other cookie cutter courses like Providence or Orange Lake. You have to think your way around Oaks National.

It would be a great course if they kept up with the maintenance.

First of all, all the staff was super friendly and nice. The course was borderline unplayable. Long grass on fairways. Greens were mostly patchy and sandy. And the little bit of grass on them were way overgrown. The tee boxes was barely green. Maybe I had to high expectations for a cheaper course. I paid and planned to do 18 holes, but walked off after 6. think that says enough.

Etc but as I played I quit found out the course was very little maintained. No grass on the greens fairways were patchy. I can understand that has been a lot of rain and before I played recently I would’ve recommended it to anybody for the great price and condition but is severely gone downhill. I won’t be playing here again.

Not worth the 40 bucks. More dirt than grass in the fairways and greens, and where there is grass it's full of weeds and is unmowed

This course needs a lot of work but for the price it's good for working on your game. The greens have been aerated and sanded so don't expect much there. Fairways were cut but with all the recent rain there were some thick areas that were too wet to cut. Recommend bringing a yardage range finder since the course does not have any yardage markings.

Friendly people, great track , 4 cars in the lot?? This place spent a bunch of money 12-18 months ago and it was in as good of condition as it had been in 20 plus years. Brand new greens were a huge improvement . Now, 40% of the fairways and 35-40% of the greens are just gone even though we have had a ton of rain. Weeds are out of control. Lake edges and off fairway areas being neglected. It just doesn’t look like it can last much longer in this condition. I hope they figure it out soon because South Orlando/ Kissimmee can’t keep losing golf courses.

I have read the reviews where people moan and complain about the greens and such. Oaks National has improved and continues to work the problems, but what I love about the course is its layout and it’s so pleasant to play. No waiting, no one pushing you to finish your hole because pcpurse play is so slow and in the heat it’s miserable. Oaks moved along even when it gets a little crowded. So if you want to play a US Open kept course and pay out the nose to play with people who think they are US Open caliber players, then go waste your money. I’ll take Pals National any day of the week.

This is the worst course condition I’ve ever played. The maintenance of the course is poorly kept up. The greens are small and mostly muddy. Take this course off of GN, remodel it,and if not, close it permanently.

Oh where to begin, I have played golf all over the world including 3rd world countries. This has to be the worse course I have ever EVER played. The front 9 was okay but the back 9 was unplayable. Greens had no flags or were punched and not cleaned. Just close the back for maintenance. Back 9 fairways were not cut and in areas longer then the Scotland Fescue. Don't get me started on the cart paths, the carts should be 4x4 offload carts. Spend an extra 10 bucks to litterly play anywhere else.

Management working to maintain course, but need a lot of work like any other course in Florida. The rainy weather in summer is challenging. Had to stop playing after 14 th. Hole due to heavy down pours.kissimmee

I've played here various times and this would be my last. First, the greens are in bad shape. Second, the grass by the fairways if you can call it that, are too high. I lost balls I saw going just of the fairways and couldn't find the ball because of how high the grass was. Third, the white tee box markers were missing on most holes. I had to depend on my watch GPS. I played before and it was a little better but, not that much different so wanted to give it another try to see if there were improvements. I was wrong. This place should charge $10 for green fees. Last time playing here.
