Not well advanced
The course conditions were fairly poor, tee markers were hard to determine, some were wood blocks then were painted some were faded markers. Tee box were basically covered in sand with painted grass seed. The pro shop was empty no supplies or balls, was given a small trash bin as a cooler. Way over priced for what the course actually it.
Great layout
Play here several times a year for the money it is great. Greens are in great shape. Fairways need a little help. Golf carts need lot of help. Friendly staff. Love the layout.
Won’t again
When I pulled into the parking lot, a sick feeling came over me. I realized that I remember the course from having played it about three years ago, and told myself leaving that I wouldn’t be back.
Old age allowed me to forget, so I thought “maybe conditions have improved since my last round”. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. There is NO grass on the tee boxes or fairways, no sand in the traps, and golf carts on their last leg. The only positive is the greens rolled moderately good. That being said, I won’t forget again.
Nice course but neglected
It was our first time here. Price was really good. Course was actually pretty cool and those nasty bunkers snagged my ball plenty of times. Greens weren’t great but not awful either. Tee boxes were messy and at times hard to find. Those nasty bunkers were short on sand and grass was growing into them.
All in all it wasn’t a bad day of golf. Then again is there such a thing?
We drove an hour to get to this course. Probably won’t again but who knows. It could be a really nice course with some investment.
Disappointing this trip
I have always enjoyed playing this course (i've played it many times over the past 5-6 years). Unfortunately, I am seeing a drastic decline. The course itself was very dry, but understandable, considering the drought in the area. The problem is, the course does not seem to have enough carts to accomodate the tee times they schedule. On this occasion, there were 4 groups waiting for carts and we were told that the reason was that a group that had scheduled 12 golfers showed up with 24 people, and were permitted to go out holding up all subsequent tee times. It made for a frustrating and disappointing day.
Loved the layout!
First time golfing here. Brought my 6 yo Son, and we had a blast. Nice and open course, friendly staff. Sure the course conditions weren’t perfect, but we’re in a drought, all things considered, I’d pay 2x what I paid
Lefty
Had to wait for a cart. No cold soda. Short staffed. Fairways and tees void of grass. Layout good. Greens good. Bunker the worst I've seen since Santuary Ridge in Clermont. For the money it's OK.
Ocala National review
No sand in traps. No grass on tees. Grass brown everywhere else except greens.
Good value
This course has a terrific layout and the value for cost is very good. The greens run true but the tees are in terrible condition. The carts (when you finally get one available) are in terrible condition - by far the worst around of all the courses).
Not Sure What's Going On
This course used to be great. It's changed dramatically. Green are still decent and fairways are also. But everything else is bad. The carts are on their last leg and they don't have enough of them on a busy day. I looks like they are purposely growing grass in most of the traps .I used to play here weekly. Now I'm playing monthly, and soon I may be skipping it entirely. What a shame!
Past it's old glory days
Nice layout, carts need maintenance. No sand in very deep bunkers. Greens were fair but a bit slow.
Good value
The weather was chilly so not many players on the course. Great layout and uphill targets made it difficult. I enjoy playing here since value for cost is terrific compared to many courses in the area. The only downside is the year after year poor condition of the carts.
Have played this course many times and course is in worse shape than we have ever played it
Long
Probably a pretty nice course back in the day. Greens and approach areas show improvement over last year. Tee boxes and fairways are in poor shape but they are in a drought. From the white tees it’s a lot of golf for the money. Carts are older and basic
Improved.
Overall the course is in good shape. The roughs are actually cut. The fairways are a little thin but it's January. Greens are ok but a little bumpy. Greens are soft enough to hold. Bunkers need lots of work. But course layout is fun and challenging.
Give it a try
Never been there before took a foursome there all want to go back If the maintenance crew could keep improving this could be a gem I’m sure it was years ago . Great layout I think the dry conditions effect how they can keep it playable a lot of down trees need TLc worth checking out.
