Ocala National at Golden Hills Country Club

Worst experience. Liar golf course staff (1 person work for office and starter). Saturday afternoon I played golf for the first time in the Ocala Florida area. At 6:30 pm my play was over and I left the golf course. The structure of the golf cart made it hard to see my bag in the back so I accidentally left my bag. My important medication was in it. I went to the course early the next morning and told the office that I had left my bag. The office worker said that this never happened. He said he would check and let me know when I came back after 2 pm. I asked if he could check now because I had another schedule. He said he would let me know in 30 minutes. He got on the cart and went out to the course. A while later he came back with my blue bag. There was nothing in it, I told him. My important medication was in it. A while later he went to the golf course office and took some of the contents out. I later found out that he had my bag and had put it in the storage area behind the office. I couldn't help but think that his intention was that he didn't want to return my bag. Later I found out that he had taken the contents of my bag from the office storage and lied to me that he had taken only the bag and gone to the course to find it. It was the worst experience I have ever had on a golf course. I would not recommend this course to anyone.

I'm not a golf snob usually but this course left a lot to be desired. Inconsisten fairways, a lot of the greens had holes, weeds, etc. The cart path was horrible and if you have a back problem, do not golf here. I was grateful to play as we just came through a hurricaine and most courses were closed. I can scarcely say I'd come back. Outdated carts, pro shop, everything just not that great.

The course was in okay condition as far as the tee box and greens. The fairways were also cut however, the ruff was rough with the height was hard to find a ball even if you just went out of the fairway a couple feet.

Played here with my brother and both of our girlfriends when visiting from out of town. We grabbed a hot deal for $20 each with a very generous no rider fee from the manager due to the girls not playing. The course layout itself was decent, playing very long, fairways pretty wide open with plenty of room to work shots. Tee boxes surrounded by weeds, but playable. Greens slow, but once again playable. Fairways were extremely rough with patchy overgrown areas making great tee shots very difficult lies.

Zero food in the club house at the turn! Dog roller but no dogs. This is BIG. Got to have a turn dog with the girls playing.

Course is lush and green after weeks of almost daily rain. Plus is the greens held very well when chipping on. Could go right for the flag. Minus was that this caused the fairways to be soggy on spots making hitting off them more difficult. Also the greens were slow and a little weedy. Course was wide open in the afternoon so pace eas as fast as we wanted to play. Roughs are long so need to hit them sraight. As usual an excellent value for what you pay versus what you get.

Long course. Would like to see attention paid to grass around bunkers. This is poorly managed as many are marsh-like and extremely unfair if not impossible to get out of. Sand itself needs to be manicured as well. Fairways are good. Greens tough to get up and down. Always good deals to play here. Appreciate that.

This course is on the longer side and challenging but, the conditions are frankly unacceptable, regardless of price. The fairways look like they had not been cut for a while and the clumps of grass littered across them were as big as softballs, fairway struck balls should not be a hunt. The greens were spotty at best, and the entire course had major red ant piles laid all over (everyone in our group got bit at least once). No matter the price, golfing in these types of conditions is miserable.

The course is on a beautiful piece of land with old large native trees lining the fairways. The greens had a ton of movement, and every green was guarded by multiple bunkers. Tons of elevation changes for Florida. The fairways and greens were ok to sub par conditions. The bunkers were terrible, deep with no sand in them and weeds over growing. If they put some love into this course I feel like it could be an amazing course m. Very difficult!

Haven't played there in a couple years, and it has gotten worse. Crabgrass on the greens rough still too high, bunkers bad....only thing good was that very few others there so I was able to get around in about 2 1/2 hours. I have no idea how the owner stays in business....must be using it as a write off. Its a great layout, just in deplorable shape. Someone who cares about golf could really make it into a tremendous golf course.

Run down, no tee markers, no care at the tee boxes, fairways rutted greens pocked with weeds, aerated? no consistency in greens, no water on course, broken water container holders everywhere, cart paths cracked chipped rutted and uneven. Was probably a beautiful course in its hey day but looks like no care in the past 10 years
