Ocala National at Golden Hills Country Club

This course has an interesting design with lots of slopes, elevated greens, and bunkers. This probably used to be a decent place until the money dried up. Staff was very friendly, though there was no beverage cart, starter, or ranger in sight. Some of the tee boxes were acceptable but they have really let the greens and bunkers go. To the point where I wouldn’t pay more than $20 for a round here. It’s a fun little course but is really lacking especially when compared to the standard of the courses in Ocala .

Course in nice shape. Great layout. Greens ate good. Rough tough. Bunkers wet from rain so stay out. Very good course in very good overall shape.

Interesting layout/design. Not interesting enough though as the bunkers were concrete and the fairways are what I imagine to be a nice day in Afghanistan. You can tell this used to be a nice course but the money has dried up and they maybe have volunteers as maintenance men. Fun day but overall disappointed.

I enjoyed this aging but decent country club. The club house is aging and a bit bare inside. Staff was friendly. Course layout is fun and a nice challenge but not too hard. Course conditions were best I played in my winter visit to Gainesville area. Few thin tee boxes, but overall the fairways and greens were great for winter golf. Would play again for the value. The hills are fun too.

I played Ocala National last year, and again a few days ago. The fairways are pretty rough, as you will clearly want to play winter rules. There are a lot of traps both around the greens and in the fairways which can make this a tough course. The traps have mostly thick dirt with some sand.

For the money it was fine as long as you don’t have high expectations. The pro shop is pretty bare and I had to wait several times to buy a drink, etc.

The greens were fine, but fairways, rough, and sand traps have been neglected. The price was right, and it was a good practice round, but I wouldn't bring my friends here.

Frequent slow play. Carts driven in clearly marked no drive areas, players not repairing divots and ball marks on greens. Lots of good players and then some that obviously don’t care about the course.

I am ok with the course and the started offered to let me go on the back nine first until a spot opened the front and it worked perfect. Area of some fairways were dr and hardpan making some shot difficult. Bunkers are heavy sand, but fluffy and I am a good sand player, but four times in and could not get out of three of them. Lunch after wards was a cheeseburger and two beers for $32.00. I will not have lunch there again. (Cheeseburger was very good)

We liked the course very much. No forced carries, but they sure are a lot of bunkers. For this time of year the fairways we’re actually green and in great shape. Several elevation changes which made it interesting. With one exception (#3) the greens were good, as were the fairways. Try it- you’ll like it.

The course was excellent. Some holes were difficult due to the long distance.

Interesting course we enjoyed playing. Some tee boxes were in rough shape, but I used a tee so who cares? The greens were good. The staff was friendly. We will gladly play it again.

Greens and fairways are outstanding. Some of the fairway bunkers have large rocks in them. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
