Southern Gayles Golf Course

This course is great other than having all the construction going on. On the 3rd hole while hitting having trucks coming in and out down the fairway. Just did the greens so you know how that is. But one my favorite courses great grill. Prices have went up a bit and don’t think it’s worth that much but may have some stuff being done that will put it in tip top shape

Played 9 got kicked off the course because a high school team that playing. Staff very terrible attitude.

Total backwoods here. Never coming back. Worse course ever .

Only complaint I have is it was cart path only and didn’t know it till arriving,if I had known that I would have played elsewhere,overall a great layout of the course!

Booked tee time for 2:26 pm on a Sunday afternoon. Arrived at the course about 45 min early. Went to check in and was told my girlfriend could not ride that I had booked with 3 other players and she could not go. I offered to pay for another cart but they didn’t even try to accommodate my request and said they don’t allow spectators on the weekend. Well, she been with me before on the weekend and usually always goes wherever we play and it has never been an issue. Needless to say, I won’t be back. Way too many other (and much nicer) courses around to put up with this.

Behind a foursome walking the entire round. Why would the course let a foursome walk on a holiday? Would not let us play through. By the last hole, had 5 groups backed up waiting on them. Nothing against walkers, but when your course is full, you should not have a foursome walking. There was 4 or five holes between them and the next group.

Me and 3 friends played here on an afternoon tee time and really had a great time. Upon leaving though, we received a call from the ""Golf Professional" that said we had played well over the pace of play. We didn't time our pace of play, but we did NOT play slow and nobody was behind us pushing is. If I had to guess, I think the extra time was due to the fact that we stopped at the turn to get food and drinks before continuing our round.

All of us are average golfers who play at a lot of local courses, and never have an issue with our pace of play... If anything, we are pushing groups in front of us. I found this call to be rude and uncalled for and needless to say, I will not be back at Southern Gayles.

They have reversed the front and back nine so the course does NOT flow as the original design intended. The new front nine is more of a construction zone than a golf course. The looks of several holes have been ruined. The greens are not very good. All of the flags are white so bring s rangefinder or you will have no idea what the yardage may be. The new owners need to decide if they are running a golf course or a real estate business.

Waited approximately 20 mins past tee time for a cart to become available. Greens sprinklers went on at approximately 5:00 pm while we were on 15th hole. Staff not very accommodating. Will not return

Like the changes being made, couple of greens need attention, and looks like they are. No more groups of SIX, halllelujah! Will be sure to try the new restaurant

Tried to use a Groupon deal with this course. Took my wife as a rider but once we arrived we were informed that she couldn’t be a rider until after 3 pm. Additionally, they had paired me with another golfer. Neither of these points were provided to me with the Groupon deal and this information should have been provided by the course as part of the deal. Of course the staff only responded to this by saying that our rules are on our website. I didn’t purchase this through their website.

Definitely not worth the trouble for this low quality golf course. Definitely won’t be going back. Too many better quality golf courses around Athens/Huntsville.
