Golfer Reviews
Good course and layout, driving range needs work.
I played during the first week of September and it was hot and humid (which is just part of the weather in that area). The staff was extremely friendly and really my only complaint about the course was the driving range. It was all mats that were almost completely worn out that sat on top of wooden slats. The first hit I had sent a shock down my hands. If they would replace the mats that would go a long way in making it a better experience.
However the course itself was a very good layout, some of the Par 4's were longer especially if you did not hit a good tee shot, but the fairways were very wide and generous. There were a few trees that had to be contended with off the tee, but once you got around them there was plenty of fairway to be had.
The greens had been punched about a month before and it had rained a lot the day before so I think between the two the greens were a touch bumpy in places, but overall rolled good. Speaking of the rain, the course drains exceptionally well. Only 2 maybe 3 fairways you could tell were wet even with all the rain from the day before. I would definitely visit again when I am in the area.
A pleasant golfing experience
We were pleasantly surprised at the course conditions, staff friendliness and amenities.
Good course, good value, greens struggling a bit.
I like the course. Played there a couple times lately. It plays short from the white tees so for higher handicap golfers it plays pretty friendly. The greens are struggling and have been all year. They had just aerated them and sanded them so they were bumpy and bear in many spots. Once the greens get back in shape I would add another star to the review but probably be next spring before they have recovered. I like the layout a lot and will go back again this fall.
Good course for the money
Everything was great! Staff, pace of play, greens and layout.
Great course, very good shape!
Tees, fairways and greens in great shape. The course plays tough but fair from the white tees. There are many fairway bunkers strategically placed as well as multiple around every green. I will work on my sand game before returning! Also water hazards on about half the holes. Its pretty open from the tee boxes and the rough is not too rough to play out of. I will definitely be back.
What a great time
Just visited the Alabama Gulf Coast and my wife and I decided to play a casual round of golf. We found this place on GolfNow and booked a tee time.
The staff was awesome and the course was in good shape. Great value for the money.
Nice course
The course was nice, and most holes fairly straight. It was hot but we had fun. It would have been better with a beverage cart on the course.
Played Twice 2 Days Apart
It was hot. If I was playing one of the 2 higher priced ($140) local courses I would not have enjoyed myself as much as I did. On the first day they were punching the back 9 so we played the front 9 times. The greens were outstanding. Fast and true. Played 2 days later all 18 holes were punched so we called everything a 2 putt. It is what it is. But the first day really gave us a good idea of the quality of the greens. Over all loved the course. It will be my regular stop on future visits to the area.
Love the layout
Well maintained, friendly workers, love the layout,
New Owners
The course has had a few owners over the years. However, all the owners maintained a great course reputation.
The current owners from South Carolina has a big shoe to fill. However, playing the course yesterday August 11, 2024, it appears that they are up to the challenge.
Course looks great could use a LITTLE tlc
Love playing at Gulf shores golf club, always nice people at the desk to check in (very sweet lady this day I played ♥️)
I mentioned a LITTLE tlc (yes just a little) on the weekend the bunkers should be raked (this day they weren't, could have been weather) but the course is always beautiful ,greens smooth and quick. Pin positions were a little iffy for the average Joe, the rough was a little knarly (again weather could have kept the maintenance crew from cutting it) other than those small items, it's worth going to play, can't wait for the heat to get out of here and come back to play. Keep up the good work, thanks to ALl the staff there!
Nice course in good shape
Tee boxes, greens and fairways in great shape. Greens were very fast if you were above the hole. A nice scenic and shady course in a neighborhood setting. Played moderate and enjoyable from the white tees. It would be more challenging from the blue tees for the low handicap golfers. Would definitely play there again.
