The 18-hole Gulf Shores Golf Club (formerly known as Golf Club of The Wharf) in Gulf Shores, Alabama is a public golf course that opened in 1963. An enjoyable round of golf
Teed off at 0750 on a picture perfect day to play golf. Saw very few other people the whole round, took our our time and really enjoyed being out on such a gorgeous fall day.
The fairways are tight and the greens were firm. Many of the greens had weeds, especially out toward the edges and in the fringe, but that rarely bothered our putts. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.
Definitely worth a play, especially if you can get a hot deal.
An excellent overall experience
Course was in great condition. Went out at 7:50 and finished around 11:00 as a threesome.
Great track
Tough holes , easy holes, great fairways and greens. Sand traps and water holes will use every Club n your bag
Fun day
The course was packed. I was a single playing behind a couple of fivesomes. Pace really wasn’t that bad just seemed like it to a single. The staff was very friendly and after 7 slow holes they paired me up with a single that was just starting. So I got to play 25 holes and still finished in 4 1/2 hours. Greens are very fast and course layout was interesting and fun. Lots of bunkers in the middle of the fairways, which I don’t like, but that’s my personal issue. Play it and enjoy it.
Good for the mondy
Beautiful day for gold. Course in good condition except for crowfoot grass invading the greens. This a possible condition of the weather in the area. Green putted fast with breaks you ready have to watch far.
Driving range included was a plus.
Good value
This was our first but surely not the last time to play this course. Course is in good condition with extremely fast greens. Every member of the staff that we came in contact with were super nice. If you decide to eat there, try their burgers. They are outstanding.
Poor conditions
This course is not in good shape. Some of The tees are almost bare. The fairways are ok, but the bunkers had not been worked on and were very hard. The greens were ok, but with a lot of sand mixed in. No one at the bag drop, and the practice area was off mats. Disappointing considering other reviews were positive.
Nice Course
We played twice this week. The first round was tough not knowing the course,. We scored well on the second round.
