The stunning fourth. Tricky, strategic and exhilarating. Yet fatal on the left side. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Eight. Bold 3-par of 204. You’ll need a fine tee shot to keep the wolf at the door. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Eleven. Solid tee-to-green test. Hitting and putting this green are the keys. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Thirteen: Wedging into a green pared down to essentials: a frontal bunker, a narrowing surface, then a big backside falloff. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Sixteen. Dr. Hurdzan’s greens resemble those of Donald Ross: crafted, meticulous, well-contoured. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Eighteen. #2 index. Problems galore. As at all par-5’s here, playing the angles well may save you from disaster. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/23/2021

Love it!!
Best course for the money in Southern PA. Great layout, somewhat challenging, but definitely worth the trip.
Great Course Conditions...For the Most Part
Pilgrim's Oak is a favorite, but at a 1.5 hour drive we don't get there as often as we would like. We brought another twosome with us who never played the course. They loved it, and thought it was absolutely beautiful...which is what we told them. As usual the fairways were lush and green, and the greens were very nice. The only issues with conditions were some of the bunkers had eroded sides and had not been "refreshed," and the tee boxes were a little chewed up. The rough was also very thick and could be penal, but certainly playable. Unfortunately, our round was 5 hours--there was a group of 24 in front of us playing a Ryder Cup format. The foursome directly in front of us was slow...by the time we got to #6, I could see across to #7 and the group in front of them was leaving the #7 green while the group in front of us hadn't made it to the #6 par 5 green yet. I did talk with the marshal at the #6 green--he happened to come out--and nicely mentioned they had a hole open in front of them. The marshal was very nice and went out to check for gaps. I don't know if he talked to them, but I also mentioned it to the counter guy on the turn and he appeared to radio out to someone. We finally felt the pace speed up on #15 where it looked like the two who were very slow must have picked up. The course was trying to manage the pace, but people who don't know how to play should not be playing a course as difficult as Pilgrim's Oak. It's not a beginner's course. A great course in great condition!
Greens Still Recovering
GolfNow mentions that in writing a review you should keep in mind that course conditions can vary from one visit to the next, so a course might be excellent on one visit and not good on the next. This came to mind on Sunday, Sept. 19th when I played Pilgrim's Oak for the 4th or 5th time this year. The greens had been aerated around Labor Day but they still need time so I'd put off playing here for another couple weeks if you enjoy greens that roll true. The greens were shaggy and uneven and balls rolled off line on most greens. Normally the greens are first class just like the overall conditions of the course which are excellent too. Some of the tee box areas need to be leveled.
This is one of my favorite courses. The holes are interesting, fairly wide open, but definitely challenging.
Avoid this course
Management is terrible, owner argued with golfers
No Ranger, staff has no idea how to treat customers
Course is nice but not maintained.
Pace of play was awful, and the golfers had no Ideal what etiquette is.
Expect a 5 to 6 hour round
Waiting to hit every hole
Avoid this course for your own good
Avoid this Course
Pace of play was very slow. Golfers had no ideal about golf etiquette,( let threesome play through). No ranger in site. after calling clubhouse, the Owner came out in a cart with a very bad attitude and arguing with patrons, I've never seen anything like it on a golf course. Course has holes and divots everywhere, not well maintained or well managed. if 6hour rounds with Golfers who don't know what play through means, then try it for yourself.
Will never play Pilgrims Oak again !!!

Tremendous Value
I've played here several times before and came back again today because the combination of awesome course conditions, first class course architecture, and low cost makes Pilgrim's Oak one of the best values around.
Most of my rounds here have been with other HotDeal players who also came back due to the amazing course conditions and value. It's really amazing what a well kept secret this place is even though everyone I've played with here shares the opinion that this is one of the best courses around, for any amount of money, and for the prices they charge I think it might be impossible to beat.
I waited until Sunday morning to get a 12:18 tee time so I was bound to get a good deal, but regardless, $28.48 is what it cost, including cart and GolfNow convenience fee - an unbelievable bargain considering that the course is in superb condition with a great pace of play. Love this place! It has become my favorite course and I drive 45 min to get here.
Beautiful
Made my annual trip and it did not disappoint. Course is laid out nicely, greens were in good shape. The tees need to be leveled up a bit. But for 50$ you won’t find a nicer spot.
Always worth the trip.
Not sure what to say that hasn’t been said before. Pilgrims is always worth the trip from anywhere. 80-85% tee to green. Some tee boxes on the back were moved up and in poor condition. I didn’t get in any bunkers today, but the rough was thick but fair. Greens were a little slow due to recent rain.
Beautiful & Challenging Course
At Pilgrim's Oak you will enjoy the variety of terrain and the challenging hole positions, water features and beautiful views. There is no 19th hole there, but it's worth the trip!
Challenging course. In very good shape.
Challenging course. In very good shape for even considering it was mid-August. Will definitely play again.
Great course. Great conditions…except for 10/11 were completely covered in water. Understandable though because it was pouring rain for a good portion of the round
Must Play Here
This course is fantastic. A must play in my opinion. I used to drive more than an hour to play there . Staff is very friendly. You can tell it’s a great working environment that must start from the top. Course is very fair but can be difficult if you find yourself on the wrong side of some greens ! The only reason it scored a 4 for amenities is that there is no restaurant but they do have sandwiches , hotdogs & snacks & drinks!

Unfortunately not all information in this post is accurate. If you count a 4.5 hour round as 6 hours maybe. We had a very busy day pace of play was running 4.25 to 4.5 hours. There was one group that was a little behind early. We talked to them and they let a group play through. Then they caught up and kept up. The ranger left when they made the turn. The group behind them called the pro shop when they made the turn and said they would not let them through. I told them the ranger was gone for the day. About 45 minutes later I was able to leave the proshop and observe the course. The said group was directly behind the group in front of them coming off the 12th hole. I then confronted the group that was complaining. They said there was 3 holes open in front of the group. I preceded to have 1 of the players follow me to observe the groups and that there was no gap. I will admit I did lose my cool with this group but they were making false accusations about the 4 lovely ladies they claimed were holding them up. They finished in no more than 4.5 hours on a very busy 11:42 tee time (they were only a 3-some behind many 4-somes). Please get your facts straight before making such accusations.
