Lake Arlington Golf Course
About
Owned by the city of Arlington, this course has been around since 1963–it’s located on the north edge of Lake Arlington and surrounded by native trees and wildflowers. Ralph Plummer designed this easy course, incorporating little water and no bunkers.
The first hole is one of the most difficult, playing over 400 yards into a dogleg-left fairway dominated by a huge pecan tree. Holes 13 and 14 play near the lake–the 13th goes 389 yards uphill and doglegs right, and the 14th measures 240 yards downhill to a green protected by water on the left side. Even though it’s a long par 3, there is a dramatic drop from tee to green.
Getting there : From Dallas, take I-30 west and exit East Chase Pkwy. Turn left, travel about 4 miles, and you'll come to the intersection of Spur 303 and Green Oaks Blvd.

Greens are getting better
Love this course , the greens are coming around nicely. Fairways are in excellent condition. Great course
Greens
Playing temp greens until mid aug. Other wise nice layout and greens look nice when the reopen them.
Couse is still on temporary greens
The course is currently using temporary greens which makes this course even shorter than it already is. Also, you will encounter problems dealing with yardage as well as hard as a rock greens. Apart from that, the course is in decent shape. You are paying only $20 right now for a round so it all evens out at the end.
Not too bad
Temporary greens could have been a little better prepared, but discounted rate made up for it. Some drainage issues throughout...not sure watering slowed down with heavier recent rains. Solid course
this was going through renevations
this course was going through renevations ...we were playing on temporary greens...the roughs were very thick...will play again after the renevations
Great for the price
Greens are under construction, just understand that and you will have a great time.
Great challenges, lots of tress.
It was a good day for golf. The course was under repair, made it a day of target golf instead of trying to play a competitive round of golf. Will play again, really liked the challenges. Ready to play it after all repairs are done.
Horrid
The was the worst course I've ever played. It was a great course design and looked to be a great course but no green was playable and they made greens 20 ft in front of original green but was super hard
The course is under repair with temporary greens.
The course is in great condition, the fairways and tee boxes are excellent. The greens are undergoing restoration the appears to be almost complete. Right now the course plays short and the temporary greens are gimmies so the scores should be lower than normal. . It was a good warm up or practice round.
A bargain in the rough
I booked my threesome's tee time based upon the great value offered and the fact that none of us had played this course before. After booking the tee time, I looked up the course website and determined the reason for the bargain rate - all 18 greens are being revovated and temporary greens have been constructed on each fairway approach. The temporary greens are terrible, but then again, so is my short game, so who am I to complain?
Another interesting note: there is not one single, solitary sand trap on this course. I wasn't particularly looking to play on the beach, but their absence did make for a less psychologically challenging course. Watch out on hole 15 though, as the natural area ahead of the tees is bigger than it first appears and made up for the lack of sand...
Overall, we had a solid, fun round at Lake Arlington and plan to add it to our DFW course rotation.
Fairways
Excellent fairways !!! Greens are temporary for now. New greens will be ready in August. Temp greens are in good shape. For the the money it's a great track.
the course is a nice course it was fun to play
Very good place to enjoy a day of golf staff was friendly and no wait time at all
All temporary greens on 6/20/2014
A nice course at a good price but there was no mention on golfnow that all temporary greens were being used. Only one hole was mentioned here that had a temporary green due to vandalism but not all greens due to reseeding.
Good shape
The course is on temporary greens for all 18 holes. That being considered it's in excellent shape. I wish they would adjust the 150 yard stakes to account for the new greens but other than that I knew what I was getting into.
Nice course great view great fairways
Greens fairways were amazing I will be back green pretty good as well . Even with to temporary greens . They did well on the greens good to put on . The outer edge of greens you can put on as well
Challenging Layout
Dogleg fairways and a picturesk par 3 enhance the course. Playing with temporary greens while new greens are expected in early August. Good value.
Temporary greens
This course is usually one of my favorites in the area. However, currently the course is under repair and using temporary greens. I want to make everyone aware of this as I was not. Obviously I would not pay normal rates until the repairs are complete.
Horrible Shape
Played with 2 brothers and we were all shocked at how horrible the course was in. They charge full price and the greens are gone and resemble a mine field.
Do not play this course until they fix the greens
I've played this course 12 plus times and its usually "ok:". This time however I was less than pleased to say the least. Each and every green or looked and acted as a fairway. None of them were remotely smooth and each of them had different levels of actual grass growing on them. They actually have a temporary green which looks worse than the actual green they are replacing. by far one of the biggest wastes of money ive spent at this course.
