The Battleground at Deer Park
About
Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.
Providing sort of a golf experience/history lesson combined into one day, each hole is named after some significant person, item, or event in the Texas fight for independence. For example, one hole is named Sam Houston, while another is named after a pair of twin cannons: Twin Sisters.
No. 8 is one of the signature holes, a 175-yard poke over the water to a green that is shared with the par 5 No. 1. A waterfall accents the edge of the lake, providing a unique aesthetic.
On the back, the finishing hole is fun because you can play aggressively off the tee, free of major hazards in the landing area that is framed by mounding. The approach must carry water, and you'll need to take an extra club because the green is elevated.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 610 and loop around the city to Hwy. 225 east. Take the first Deer Park exit and turn right onto Georgia St. Next, drive 1 mile to the course, and look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

Really fun, great staff, a few tough greens.
Overall had a blast at this course. The morning tee times were remarkably affordable. Only issue with this course is 2 holes had very rough greens. The rest of the course is well taken care off. Beer was affordable, staff was friendly, course layout was fun, the course also has a cool theme were every hole is named after someone who fought in the Texas Revolution. I will definitely be back.
Wouldn’t pay full green fee
So read the reviews about greens being bad but wow they are awful I would say 5-6 of 18 really bad
One in particular just pick ball up move on!!
Rest of course fairways and t boxes good shape after we had lots of rain so no complaints there I love the layout of the course some really interesting holes !
Pace of play ! I was a single there was a single in front he was behind 2 very slow 2 balls and 2 singles behind me WHAT???
Never saw the Marshall once I caught the guy I don’t and we paired up as you should but we had to wait a long time on the tees !
Ok so I got a deal for $20 and thought I’d greens bad so what and that was fine !
No way would I pay full price until green issues sorted
Fun course
Took my new to golf sons to play here. Fun layout and friendly staff. Very green thanks to all the rain, had 3 or 4 greens that need work, not puttable from most locations. Love they had junior tees, really made day more encouraging and fun for them. Would definitely play again for the price.
A few rough greens, but overall great track
Was hesitant to play based on some reviews, but I went out early, before 630, and was done in 3 hours. A few greens had some rough spots, but overall thought the course was in good shape. Very enjoyable, would go back
Two greens that are in bad shape, but it appears that they are working on them. Otherwise the course is in great shape.
Nice layout and plenty of water to dodge
Nice course in good condition. A couple greens were a bit beat up - probably from disease or bugs - but otherwise a fun round.
Playing
Like the the course, great price on golf now. Course was in pretty good shape after all the rain.
Decent course - Just needs a few improvements
Overall,, this course was enjoyable. We would definitely play here again. However, it could use a few improvements:
1. More visible yardage markers, both on the cart path and on the fairways. It was hard to determine the distance to the hole on quite a few holes.
2. The tee box marker colors and distances didn't match the colors/distances on the score card (ie, blue tees were placed where the gold tees were, the distances listed on each sign on the tee box didn't match the card, etc).
3. There was no place to scrub off your clubs at the end of the round.
Besides that, it was a good value for the money.
Greens need some love
The greens always seem to be struggling with fungus or something that just eats up the grass. Most are very patchy and bumpy. The greens were also very slow and needed to be trimmed. It was like putting on carpet. Tee boxes were rock solid and you couldn’t put the tee in the ground on a handful of holes. My buddy broke two tees trying to put the tee in the ground. A little watering, landscaping and fix up the greens and the course has potential.
Terrible
Pushed our tee time back and we still had to wait on average about 25 min per hole, greens and tee boxes were absolutely terrible. There are so many better courses in this price range in the area, avoid this one
