The Battleground at Deer Park

About
Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.
Providing sort of a golf experience/history lesson combined into one day, each hole is named after some significant person, item, or event in the Texas fight for independence. For example, one hole is named Sam Houston, while another is named after a pair of twin cannons: Twin Sisters.
No. 8 is one of the signature holes, a 175-yard poke over the water to a green that is shared with the par 5 No. 1. A waterfall accents the edge of the lake, providing a unique aesthetic.
On the back, the finishing hole is fun because you can play aggressively off the tee, free of major hazards in the landing area that is framed by mounding. The approach must carry water, and you'll need to take an extra club because the green is elevated.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 610 and loop around the city to Hwy. 225 east. Take the first Deer Park exit and turn right onto Georgia St. Next, drive 1 mile to the course, and look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

This course is awful don’t go
This course is awful do not go there is expensive and the course is totally in bad condition the greens looks like sand there stole your money definitely

Review
These greens are like putting on the moon, seriously hole and everything. Always have people fishing when it’s not allowed. Overall it’s it a okay course but very green is like putting on the moon, definitely still not worth the money I think.

Almost all of the greens are burnt
Anybody who reads this do not go play Battle Ground the greens are Awful !it’s ridiculous that they would not tell this!!!
It’s like stealing our money!!! Golf now you need to take them off your site .

The course was nice and pace was good but the greens were horrible they need to be a taking care of.

Scenic course , not crowded
Some greens are in bad shape,
Lots of water hazards make it challenging.
Overall a fun game today.

Would only pay 20 for course
Front 9 greens filled with rough sand and very bumpy. Back 9 well kept and pretty.

Don’t Recommend!!!
Greens were horrible, could not putt. Played two holes then rode to look at rest of course and 80% of rest of fairway and green were in same condition. Golf carts were not clean concidering the Covid-19. No flag sticks on any greens. I do not recommend anyone playing this course until they put in a lot work to groom and repair. Don’t understand because this use to be a decent course to play.

Worse Conditions in the Houston Area
The golf course is in the worse conditions of any course I’ve ever played . 90% of the greens had no grass on them, fairways were not cut. Golf carts were dirty, and we are supposed to be coved-19 concerned right now. The Marshall who worked at the course even told us before the round how bad the conditions were and recommended we not play there that’s just how bad it is. I really hope Golfnow give me some kind of refund or code for wasting my money on this course...

April 20 Corona Virus Golf Day
The course is adequate, even really nice on most fairways.
But the greens are the worst I have ever seen anywhere! You absolutely can not play these greens and the course management should be ashamed of themselves for charging people to play here! At the very least, due to the condition of the greens, the fees should be 50% of what they are currently charging.

Course very dry and could use watering. Greens and mostly sand so impossible to get to putts read correctly.

It’s got potential
The layout of the course is great, plenty of water hazards to make it challenging. The main problem was the greens 80% of them need serious help and 30% of the “fairways” were more like the 2nd cut. But I had a great time and once again the layout is very nice

Greens
The greens were in horrible condition. My buddies and I didn’t even keep score. We said let’s just work on our tee to green game, forget the short game. I joked with the guys I should put my name somewhere so they’ll remember because I’ll never play there again.....unbelievable

Horrible
Greens were unputtable. No Marshall for slow play. No flag sticks so couldn't tell were hole was. Tee boxes and fairways were over grown with weeds.. Don't waste your time or money

TLC needed
Tee boxes and fairways were in decent shape, that being said the greens need lots of TLC.

Battle Ground 4/6/20
Pace of play was good and for most part the course is in good condition. The exception is the greens that are not in good condition. Looks like the problem that the greens had a year ago are here again!!
