Wow!
The rough remains a challenge, hopefully they will have needy areas re-planted by next year. The fairways are coming along fine. Sand traps still a trifle rocky. I thought the greens were in near pristine condition. Overall, a great day. Lowest score in ten years! Yahoo!
77 degrees in February
It would have been a good pace of play but the guys we were paired with, one had only golfed twice or so and swung 3 or 4 time at every ball. Nice guys but one guy should have gone to the bar.
02/11/14
My wife and I enjoyed the Kuukan course the 1st time we played it. The fairways could be improved on but the greens were in very good shape. The Golfnow.com price was excellent. We hope to play the course again before we leave Needles.
Huukan G.C.
Greens are great, course is getting better, still has a lot of hard pan without any grass. Bunkers need to be cleaned out, remove all rocks from bunkers and put some good sand in them. Huukan is a fun challenging course that seems to play a little longer than you would think, This is a fun Course.
course is improved a lot from last year
Overall it was a lot of fun. The course was lots better than last year. I will play this course again. It would be better if there wasn't so many ducks on a couple holes.
this course needs more grass
pretty windy day the fairways were bare lots of dirt spots in the fairways
transition period?
I understand this course had been recently re purchased;which may explain it's rather poor condition. I will return in a month or so to see if is in better condition
the course is being upgraded
Greens were in good shape, but can't say much for the rest of the course. Dry grass and mud in places. It looks like they are attempting to improve the course after some neglect it has suffered. It was not crowded at all and we got on earlier than our tee time.
not good
Very friendly staff, nice carts with good GPS, ice chest and bottled water. That's where the good stops. Practice area; 2 nets, 2 mats. Traps; weed filled dirt and pea gravel pits with 3/4" crusty rake groves. Desert courses usually get overseeded and are in pretty good shape, not even close here.
Be prepaired to hit off dirt if you're off center even modestly. Who sands green in Jan.? They do. This is a $20 may-be course, not $55
Course is coming along!
Since the Indians aquired the course last spring we have seen definite improvement to the fairways which is great. We are looking forward to more improvement over the next year to the entire course as they promised.
Needs work
First the positives: Easy to get on. Staff very friendly. Decent putting green and separate area for chipping and short pitches. Electric carts. Played in 3.5 hours. Clubhouse and restaurant looked clean and fairly modern. Cost was very reasonable at $22, including cart.
The negatives: Fairways had many, many bare spots. Lots of rocks in the sand traps and not much sand. Greens were bumpy and slow. Course winds through many houses and crosses streets several times. Driving range consisted of two rubber mats in front of two nets.
Huukan improving daily
Great little course, lot's of fun. Course condition improving since handover from Desert Lakes to Huukan. Recently added practice pitching green and practice tee nets. Great staff.
improving and great value
A pretty golf course that is a fair test. The bunkers are rocky and the fairways are missing grass in spots and the greens are bumpy. A huge effort appears to be underway to improve the course.
Not great
This course just opened again a month ago, needs tender loving care, will be nice in awhile, but too much money for the shape it is in
I played this course two days in a row, they were in teh overseding process but it was still very playable.
This course has some potential. It was formerly Desert Lakes and was not taken care of very well. It is now owned by the Indian tribe that owes Mohave resort course. You can see they are starting to improve the course I am looking forward to the results. I think they will improve the course considerably.
PS I played course 2 days in a row 9/22 and 9/23
Do not waste your money right now!
Right now they are transitioning from Desert Lakes to Huukan which is owned by Avi Resorts. The course is in POOR conditions because I'm sure the previous owners let it go. The course has great potential to be a great course but no one should have to pay to play that course. They should close up and get it ready for play. Golfnow really should consider taking them off until they are ready for reopening. I spent the money for a hotel so that's why we stayed and played the course. Even though it was over 120 degrees.
Course condition
I was told by staff that the course is up for sale, owner isn't spending any money on course, too bad as this was a good course to play, I won't be back
great value for your dollar.
The course could have more work and maintenance, but given the price, location and economy, this is a very reasonable course for the locals. The carts are good and reliable, people friendly.
This Course is a challenge!
For a course that is 6600 yards this a challenging course! It reminds me of Hawai'i Kai golf course and Waialae Country Club (Home of the Sony Open)! The Staff were very nice and Professional. Next time I go to Laughlin I will definitely golf there again!
