Country Club of Green Valley
About
The Country Club of Green Valley borders the Santa Cruz River, wandering through the pecan groves that sit along the banks. The golf course is seemingly mild but don't underestimate this 6,581-yard layout. It's a scenic round but it is also a challenging one. Don't be surprised if you find yourself using every club in your bag. Strategically placed bunkers frame every green and water comes into play on six holes. The 14th is arguably the toughest water hole. There is a lake that wraps around three sides of the green and the front is guarded by a bunker to the left and right. In addition to the golf course, Green Valley is also popular for having one of southern Arizona's finest practice facilities, which includes a driving range and chipping and putting areas with a practice bunker.

We're so glad that CC Green Valley has gone with Golf Now enabling us to play it more.
We've been able to play 4 times now and appreciate the availibility of playing more. Peter and the staff of CC Green Valley are exceptional with customer service. The members are also friendly and receptrive to us (outsiders) enjoying their course.
Actual Sand in the Traps...
This course was more than I expected. It is mostly open and forgiving with the exception of a couple of tight holes. The course was also in decent shape everywhere but around the lake. For what ever reason, some of the tee boxes and fairways there were dead and beaten up. Lots of goose droppings. Maybe the birds were the reason... I was impressed with the greens. Most Green Valley greens are very basic but these had multiple levels, ridges and breaks. Fun! The traps were actual sand as opposed to dirt as well which was nice with the amount of time I spent there that day!
Course was very dry due to previous very llow temperatures
Staff was extremely helpful and went beyond the call of duty to make us feel welcome.
This course was pleasent to play.
The course was in average condition but it was consistant.
good greens, great pace of play
good greens, great pace of play, fairways not a plush as in years past, but great value!
One of the nicest in the area.
I've been coming to Green Valley since the mid-90's. Until this year I've been unable to play this course because of its private status. This winter they decided to open the course to limited open play- I believe this is part of their drive to fill their membership rolls. Whatever, I had a wonderful morning at Country Club of Green Valley. The course is nicely laid out and in very good shape. The fairways are overseeded with a nice rye winter grass and the greens are complete (no bare spote) and roll exceptionally true. The course is a mature desert style course but with little or no bare desert like areas. The rough is full but properly in a dormant winter state. We played the back men's tees at about 6300 yards and found it fully challenging .
Nice round of golf.
Played a Shotgun start here for the afternoon 1 pm start. Staff at the course was extremely courteous. The course is a well maintained, parkland style course which is rare for the Tucson/Green Valley area.
Not extremely difficult but you can get into tree trouble if you spray it off the tee. There are some nice looking holes with large water hazards in play. The greens rolled pretty smooth, with a medium speed.
Overall this course is a just a nice place for a round that won't beat you up but won't bore you either.
***As a previous reviewer stated, there was some kind of function or small outing going on for the shotgun start. However it seemed that they tried to get the Golfnow reservations off on Hole 1 and so on. The pace of play was perfect, minimal waiting with no pushing from groups behind us. I didn't find the shotgun start a problem at all. Give it a try.
A good walking course.
The fairways are wide open and the course is fairly level.
A good deal and it's closer than you think
The staff was excellent. The fairways are in better shape then alot of other courses that will cost you more to play. The greens are excellent. The bunkers ( not that you want to be in any) are consistent with soft sand, compared to alot of other area courses. This is the kind of course that plays a little tougher than it looks, and will provide a challenge for players of all skill levels.
not the hardest
shorter tree lined course that had vary little difficulty besides trees and fast undulating greens
Worth a play at least once
The cart paths are in need of repair, and the course is not marked very well. It winds through residential neighborhoods and needs greater signage to the tee boxes. The fairways were reasonably well maintained, but the greens were immaculate and very fast.
I think it is a tad overpriced, but worth the $40 greens fees, at least once.
Good experience
Staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Course is in good shape. Layout is fairly wide-open, so there is not much chance of getting in to too much trouble. Finished in about 4.5 hours and never really had anyone pushing us.
No shotgun starts
Be careful booking any shotgun start times. These are "fill-ins" when the course is having a tournament but there aren't enough players in the tournament to fill the course. You'll be rushed through your round if the tournament format is a scramble or alternating shot.
This course has a lot of mature trees, park like course.
Not a long course but it does have its challenges. Need to stay away from the tree lined rough. Has some water, mostly lateral hazards except on # 9 where it crosses the fairway.
