Country Club of Green Valley
About
The Country Club of Green Valley borders the Santa Cruz River, wandering through the pecan groves that sit along the banks. The golf course is seemingly mild but don't underestimate this 6,628-yard layout. It's a scenic round but it is also a challenging one. Don't be surprised if you find yourself using every club in your bag. Strategically placed bunkers frame every green and water comes into play on six holes. The 14th is arguably the toughest water hole. There is a lake that wraps around three sides of the green and the front is guarded by a bunker to the left and right. In addition to the golf course, Green Valley is also popular for having one of southern Arizona's finest practice facilities, which includes a driving range and chipping and putting areas with a practice bunker.

Country Club friendly
This course was in excellent shape for this time of year in Southern AZ. Minor brown out patches in fairways. Greens were very consistent and accepted good shots, also well maintained as far as ball marks are concerned. Basically a what you see is what you get style course, also plays a little longer than scorecard lists because it was meant to be played "soft" not a lot of roll out on T balls. Played early in morning & they offer "COMP" coffee. Shotgun start course traffic moved swiftly.
At a $16.00 can't beat this deal with a 1-iron :-)
good value but needs attention; lounge restricted to members only
Spotty fairways and crusty greens but an overall good course and the price was right. However, it does not come close to approximating the playing conditions from last year at this time. Found it curious that the course welcomes open play but restricts the lounge to "members only" so a beverage or snack after the round or after nine holes is not possible. Will not return anytime soon.
Nice for all golfers
The course is set up with enough tee boxes to make it a challenge for any golfer.
Very friendly staff, level course with water on some holes.
The staff greeted us by name and were very helpful, we felt welcomed. Course is in good shape but some ruff spots on fairways. The ruff off the fairways is very deep and difficult to shoot from accurately. Course winds through housing area but signs help new people keep to the correct route.
Not So Good
Fairways need a lot of attention. The greens are very good but slow that day. The guy in the pro shop was outstanding.
Course needs some maintenance.
SPENT TIME IN HIGH ROUGH LOOKING FOR BALLS. SAND TRAPS WERE HARD. MANY BARE SPOTS IN FAIRWAYS.
Just like Haven Golf course. Flat and uneventfull.
Very bad shape. Lot of mud and little grass. Not much challenge. Just back and forth. People behind our group were members and showed bad manners often. Followed way too close.
Course needed attention -- many dry spots on fairways and on greens. Rapid and uncrowded play a big plus.
A decent course that has likely improved since the start of the monsoon season. Flat course with less interest than many desert layouts, but with some good views of the Santa Rita Mtns. Very friendly staff, all the water and ice you need and rapid play make up for some deficiencies. Two shot gun starts daily at 7:30 and 12:30. 12:30 time on a Friday saw only three or four players on the entire course. Recommended, but don't expect championship conditions.
fairways a little spotty, but it's July in Tucson, though the greens were very good.
fairways a little spotty, but it's July in Tucson, though the greens were good
Shouldn't be open.
The greens were fair but slow. The fairways were terrible, like a cabbage patch. This course needs serious maintenance.
Course needs time and water; fairways sparse, greens recently punched, no beverage cart.
Don't go right now - but if you choose to go take your own beverages - the bar would not sell beverages to people who booked thru Golfnow. Course is not in as good of shape as it has been in the past. Played on 6/26/13.
Nice layout-fecal condition,
AS a private or semi-private course,or even public, you will not attract players with the very poor condition of the course,Need grass on the fairways and tees, smooth greens-water,water!!
Green good, some fairways burnt.
Greens in good condition particularly considering the time of year. Several fairways fairly burnt.
nice layout
terrible condition fairways has lots of bare spots just large patches of dirt. No water on course to drink. Can not buy a beer if you book thru golf now. Could be a nice course if they got a good greenskeeper. Really to bad.
Enjoyed the course, but it was not in very good condition.
Enjoyed the opportunity to golf at this normally private course. Looked like the course had been neglected for awhile and they are now trying to get it back in shape. Fairways were quite barren in many places.
Course is having difficulty with irrigation system
Played this course a few months ago and it was in pretty good shape. I was told they had an irrigation problem since then which had to be corrected twice. The course suffered quite a bit but it looks like things are starting to come back. Fun course and can be played quickly. My foursome played in about 3:45 hours.
played here in the past and was in good shape, did they quit watering?
Needs some T L C, greens recently aeriated and sanded. Tee boxes, and fairways with little grass. Must be in a transition to bermuda?
Good course layout
Will continue to play this course again and have recommended this course to friends.
Course is in transition right now
I have played this course in the winter and is a fun course. Staff is very friendly and would play again. Once the bermuda comes in it will be really good!
Could be better.
The price wa right for the current course condition and aerated greens.
