Country Club of Green Valley
About
The Country Club of Green Valley borders the Santa Cruz River, wandering through the pecan groves that sit along the banks. The golf course is seemingly mild but don't underestimate this 6,628-yard layout. It's a scenic round but it is also a challenging one. Don't be surprised if you find yourself using every club in your bag. Strategically placed bunkers frame every green and water comes into play on six holes. The 14th is arguably the toughest water hole. There is a lake that wraps around three sides of the green and the front is guarded by a bunker to the left and right. In addition to the golf course, Green Valley is also popular for having one of southern Arizona's finest practice facilities, which includes a driving range and chipping and putting areas with a practice bunker.

THE GREENS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE
THE FAIRWAYS ARE BROWN DUE TO A LACK OF WATER. THIS WAS BECAUSE OF AN OLD IRRIGATION SYSTEM THAT HAS BEEN UPDATED. THE COURSE SHOULD BE GOOD IN ABOUT A MONTH.
Based on todays condition, this course has potential. Needs watering
The greens were good, but the fairways were bad and the tee boxes were terrible. In serious need of watering and reseeding.
Challenging
Well laid out course with plenty of bunkers to try to avoid. The course is set in an older established neighborhood with houses on both sides of almost every hole so you need to keep your shots straight. Greens are well maintained and fast. Friendly staff willing to help.
Flat terrrain with few interesting holes
The course was in reasonable condition for mid-winter. The lack of character makes playing the course less than exciting. Due to the geography of the area (valley bottom) it would be very difficult and expensive to build an interesting course in this location.
Greens were great. Staff was definitely NOT!!!
The minute we entered the pro shop and gave the attendant our name, he literally started "reading us the riot act" about how we would not be drinking or purchasing any alcohol and all we could have is water or soda. Instead of explaining the club policy to us, he was reprimanding us as if we did something wrong. Two of my foursome wanted to leave but we just drove 45 miles to play. The guy was a total jerk!!! Turned out we couldn't get water or soda because there was no beverage cart OR water on the course. If you want to be a "private club", don't advertise on golfnow.com. Obviously the members aren't spending enough or they wouldn't be using golfnow.com's services. We won't be going back!!! I would remove them from the website.
Staff friendly, helpful. Course well maintained but sparse grass off the fairways.
Well maintained course but grass sparse off fairways
Nice course needs some heat!
The greens on this course are some of the best designed in the area and are in fair shape. All of the courses seem to show some stress due to the cold winter but this one is better than most. I always enjoy playing her as the pace of play is good and the staff is friendly.
Very goog shape
Greens, tees and fairways in great shape. Greens have pretty good speed. Members very nice.
The course is in good condition for this area and is average is difficulty'
The sand traps are better than average condition for Green Valley. The course is average for difficulty and better than average condition for Green Valley.
I like the free range ball
Fun to play, they have real sand. Greens put true.
Worth a play
I drove to Green Valley from south Tucson to play this course. It was worth the drive but I probably won't make the trip again.
The course is fairly easy - wide fairways and not a lot of trouble. It is a good course for higher handicappers (like me). The course is well maintained - particularly for Green Valley and the gentleman in the pro shop was very helpful and accomodating. I enjoyed the round. If you are in the Green Valley area, this course is worth a play.
Nice course
Pleasantly surprised by the very good condition of the course and playability. Outstanding pace of play in the a.m.. Greens were fairly slow, but very true and healthy. A very decent value, and in my opinion, the best option for Green Valley golf.
Very nice cource
The course is very well maintianed. The greens where outstanding, soft and fast and putt true. Not a hard course, but has some challenging holes. The staff is unbelievably friendly, they wil help you in any manor. The shotgun start was a little different for not being in a tournament. I WILL play here again.
very good course
The course is in good shape fun to play. The staff is very nice you get free range balls
Great price, course great condition, very good day.
This course used to be private, now semi-private. I have a 14 hdcp and have played this course maybe 6 times in 21 years living in Green Valley. This was the best condition I have seen it; the bunkers had very good sand and were well-maintained, fairways were green and grassy, rough was very fair, greens were very good for me...the roll was 95% uninterrupted and fairly quick, mowers did a great job everywhere. There were no water stations, other than the restrooms and the clubhouse. I did take water but you can only carry so much. (I've suffered from heat exhaustion for two years now, so the temperature outside is irrelevant for me, I need plenty of H2O!). Pace of play was great, had a 1 hour frost delay but the cooler morning weather had thinned out the early-birds, so we had smooth sailing. I play it again in 5 days for a Kansas Club tournament and am excited to return.
fun round of golf
Green Valley doesn't present a lot of trouble, great course for the lady's
Great course for a flat area.
Fun to play and easy to score well. Many great features including fabulous, well-cared for bunkers; left and right dog legs; many tee options, manicured greens, and an excellent practice area.
The course has a nice layout through the SW side of Gren Valley. You still have moutain vistas.
Of courses I've played in Gren Valley are this was in best shape. It had an excellent driving, chipping and putting area. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape and there was real sand in the traps. I played in a shotgun in a 3 some with no group ahead of us and no one pushing us so we played in 3 1/2 hours.Pro staff were courteous and informative. With 5 sets of tees the course has achallenge for any level of golfer. The only minor complaint is that since it went semi-public there needs to be a few more direction signs on the course. Luckily I played with people who had been there but otherwise I may have taken a wrong turn especially when crossing streets in the neighborhood. Also once it warms up in the morning I assume there will be more golfers and a slower pace of play. For the price it was a true bargain. I plan to play it often in the next 3 months.
Nice layout, good smooth greens.
This is a parkland style course, played the back tees and it played fairly long. Greens may be the best thing about the course, smooth, fairly quick. Folks who run it, accomodating.
An "old school" course, reminded me of the CC course I grew up playing. All in all, a nice day of golf.
