Haven at Haven Public Golf Club

About
Built along the Santa Cruz River, Haven Golf Course offers scenic views of the Santa Rita Mountains. Built in 1967, it is Green Valley’s oldest golf course and the only course in the area where walking is allowed. The landscape is covered with mature pines, palms, and eucalyptus trees. There are water hazards and strategically placed bunkers coming into play, but overall the golf course has an enjoyable, player-friendly layout. In addition to the 18-hole course, the Haven Golf G.C. facility features a nine-hole, par-3 golf course called Tortuga. There is also a complete practice facility with all-grass hitting stations that provides excellent short game practice.

Give me some grass...give me some sand
Fun course to play but please, put some money into overseeing and get some sand in the traps!!
Bring your Bug Spray!!!
Course was unkept, Standing water from sprinkler system, unbelievable mosquito haven .... Greens felt like they had never been rolled, uncut, large areas in fairways without a blade of grass ..... All in all, a very poor experience. Not fun at all!!
You get what you pay for here
No sand in the traps....huge bare spots on the fairways and sitting water with tons of mosquitoes, but the greens were good
Haven Golf Course (Dog Track)
Haven is in the worst shape I have ever seen it. Haven't played it for a few months and obviously they are no longer trying to keep it in any kind of ok shape and are just collecting green fees for profit. All the fairways are devoid of grass and are basically mud and weeds as they are having sprinkler leakage issues or don't have a clue on how to maintain irrigation. Run don't walk away from playing this course.
Holy Mosquitos!
Course was in good shape for summer in AZ. Greens were maintained well, but the mosquitos were on a level I’ve never seen! BRING BUG SPRAY. Expect at least 5 mosquitos to land on you any time you stop the cart. No exaggeration
Take Bug Spray
Overall very nice course , hole 8 and 9 has a lot of black bugs ,oh and the bar needs improvement has a cafe feel to it !
Charged Twice
I booked a 7:45 tee time and prepaid $32 to Golf Now. When I checked at 6:40 and a purchased range balls all was good. There was a group of guys (called the Amigos Group) that began teeing off at 7:30 and had tee times going until 8:05. They had an opening so I asked to join them and the cashier said I had to wait until they were off or pay an additional $44 to join them. I offered to pay the difference ($44-$32 to GN, so $12) and I was told that the course doesn't make any money from GN tee times and I would have to pay an additional $44 or wait for about 30 minutes past my tee time to play. Rude! I'm not sure who to blame here, as I tried to contact GN and was not able to find any way on the app or their website (including the "chat" feature) to report this event. I paid the additional $44 and played with the Amigos Group. Great group of guys, just disappointed with how Haven treated me as a GN user.
Tee to Green
Green Valley courses are always tough to maintain in the HOT weather, Haven has done a nice job.
Poor customer service
I arrive to the course 45 minutes early when I was told by the man checking me in that I would have a single joining me. I waited on the first Team for 30 minutes waiting to tee off. There had been no one on the course for over a half hour but yet the staff would not let me tee off earlier than my scheduled tee time. This seems to be a normal practice when this particular scheduled is working!
Nice
It's a very nice course. I will keep it in mind when I want to drive down there.
They are trying!
The course appears to be working on many sprinkler heads. There were many still that were broken & leaking leaving standing water. Unfortunatley that attracts the mosquitos so bring your bug spray!
The good news is they appear to be watering more and if the sprinkler system is fixed and they water properly the course will get greener and grass will grow. It is better than it has been in the last year.
Hot
it was 108 degrees the day we played so we decided to quit after 9 and cool off with some beer, LOL. Haven is having to deal with the heat also and it shows on some bear spots on the course. As golfers we can all help by repairing ball marks on the greens and filling in divots.
