Tanna Farms Golf Club
About
Tanna Farms Golf Club in Geneva offers some of the best golf that the Fox Valley has to offer. The layout meanders across prairies covered with wildflowers and weaves through lush wetlands. The course begins with the stunning signature hole. The par-3 opener has an island green that sets the scene for this thrilling and memorable round. Although it's a seemingly short course at 6,510 yards from the back tees, what it lacks in length it makes up for with plenty of other challenges. Besides the first hole, there are a few other tough par 3s, including one with a postage-stamp sized green. There are some daunting par 5s as well. Tanna Farms Golf Club is not a lengthy course but the layout is generously spaced to offer breathing room between the holes and the undulating slopes and subtle elevation changes make it pay much longer.

Good Track, reasonably maintained, Friendly Staff
It rained heavily the night before and the course was VERY wet. Carts were allowed only on paths. But the problem is cart paths are in VERY BAD SHAPE. In addition, the paths are quite far from fairways and greens, so I ended up walking a lot. I got the benefit of walking by riding!!! All the bunkers had standing water.
Virtually no practice facility. A postage stamp putting green, which is of no much use. They could at least put a net for hitting some balls before teeing off.
Unfriendly groundskeepers
My playing partner and I encountered an extremely rude groundskeeper who forced us to hit into the group ahead of us. Apparently this person is known for antics like this and it surprises me he is still employed given his actions and unprofessional nature. Also, my playing partner and I ran into another groundskeeper who needed to change the pin placement as we were on the green. Shouldn’t that occur well in advance of players on the course??
He course is laid out well, but could be maintained a bit better given the price/round.
Nice course
I like the course challenges. The greens are fast yet very receptive to holding approach shots. The distances are not too long (I played the blue tees) but require accuracy off the tee on most holes. The price I found on line was a great deal.
Can’t see.
Overall the course has a nice design. Each hole is laid out totally different from the prior. Which is good. Most of the sand traps are groomed nicely. However, there are a couple holes on the back nine that have very tall grasses ahead of the tee box and you are unable to see where to hit. Unless you play their frequently, it is impossible to find the correct direction. Very frustrating. Other than that, this is a fun, challenging course.
Much Harder Than Slope/Course Rating
Had not played here in a couple of years. Always an interesting layout, the wetland areas have grown up to the point they are a significant factor. Recently played Cantigny (blue tees: 138 slope) and Orchard Valley (blue tees: 134 slope), and found Tanna to be much more difficult (126 slope): several very long carries over the swamps with no bail-out areas. Bring plenty of balls (I lost 9). Bunkers had no sand - just hardpan. Greens very nice: interesting, true, and held approaches well.
Nice but needs help
Always liked Tanna Farms. Course was in ok shape. Greens a little slow and didn't roll true. Fairways nice and rough deep. You can tell it's minimally cared for but not their fault. Like others they finding difficulty getting people to work. They hiring for multiple positions. The grill essentially closed except for the bar and hotdogs and chips for food. Golf shop guy clearly didn't want to be there- unfriendly and not very appreciative of us being there. Complained of no one wanting to work due to unemployment extensions. He was right. Good value for price.
Good track
Great overall course, ball placement when needed. Nice track.
Potential
I think this course has some potential but it needs some work. Still it was a good deal and I had a good time
Fun corse
Even with all the storms and rain we had this week, this course was in great shape it wasn’t wet and soggy the greens were soft and held everything coming in which was awesome. I really enjoyed this course.
