Rating 72.0

Tanna Farms Golf Club in Geneva offers some of the best golf that the Fox Valley has to offer. The layout meanders across prairies covered with wildflowers and weaves through lush wetlands. The course begins with the stunning signature hole. The par-3 opener has an island green that sets the scene for this thrilling and memorable round. Although it's a seemingly short course at 6,510 yards from the back tees, what it lacks in length it makes up for with plenty of other challenges. Besides the first hole, there are a few other tough par 3s, including one with a postage-stamp sized green. There are some daunting par 5s as well. Tanna Farms Golf Club is not a lengthy course but the layout is generously spaced to offer breathing room between the holes and the undulating slopes and subtle elevation changes make it pay much longer.

Be ready to run and not think about your shots

This is a well maintained course but the fact that when you play in the pace you should be allowed and the group behind you may be faster, you are expected to play at their speed. Not impressed with the staff or the way they handled the pace of play. If you think someone is slow, look at the clock and verify if that is the fact before ruining the players round by feeling rushed. Don't think I will be back. Not happy with my experience this past week.

A lot of fun will definitely play again.

I found the course short but well kept and the greens are nicely protected by bunkers with good soft sand. There seemed to be a fair amount of obscured approach situations which will leave newcomers wondering where best to land the ball, but the scorecard is very informative and should help.

If you have trouble with distance and direction off the tee, you are going to rack up some penalty strokes and spend some time in the sand. Once you reach the green(which can be tough to hold on approach) you'll have a whole new challenge; On the last round played, they were pretty fast after even after a good soak the night before and though they roll true I found several to be a rather tough read. Unfortunately for me, three-putts were not uncommon.

Though my last round suffered severely there, I really enjoyed playing the gently rolling terrain offering unique views of the area an interesting blend of prairie, ponds, and wetlands- winding through a newly built upscale community where it meets a vast expanse of active farmland. Several times we noted how calm and quiet things were. Bird watchers might want to bring their binoculars while waiting for the fairway ahead to clear. Just don't forget to keep pace!

Great course if you catch the right price

This course is challenging and well-maintained. Everyone in our foursome agreed it was in the top 10 we have played in the last two years, however since we are high-handicappers (for now) we usually only play courses we can afford. We got in here on a "hot deal" and it was a great course for the price. The hazards are intelligently placed and provide a good challenge without being impossible. It has a lot of water which adds to the challenge and look of the course. #12 is a good example of this where you need to carry the water twice unless you want to risk trying to get on in one. Overall, a very fun course. It does need to get a driving range, however, as you can't really go into this without cold considering #1 is an island par 3.

I enjoy this course.

Tanna Farms offers a variety of holes which I enjoy. Wish the par 3's were longer, but the very long par 5's make up for it in pure distance. I will play there again.

Great Day for Golf

The course was in great share considering the amount of rain the area had received in prior weeks. Weather was nice, course was not too difficult but not easy either. Difficult and easy holes were mixed in nicely with each other. The staff were very friendly and even bumped up our starting tee time due to another the late arrival of another 4-some.

Play was a little slow due to a 3-some in front of us who appeared to be either playing multiple golf balls each or were doing more talking than hitting. Nobody in front of them but had to wait at multiple tee boxes for them to get out of range.

Good conditions (still early in the season) and expect a few blind shots (course knowledge is a necessity).

The course was in good shape as new grass is grown to cover the areas of usage (greens) and needing repair (fairways). The fairways are generous but can be treacherous as some are into blind landing areas. Enjoyable course that will play long if it is a windy day.

Odd setup, but worth a trip

6 par 3s and 5 par 5s...that's odd. It also can be quite difficult on windy days. It's worth a visit though, especially at spring rates. Also starts you off with a par 3...very difficult with heavy winds.

Challenging starting with an island green Par 3

We enjoyed the course despite a few quirks. We liked the challenge of the holes where you have to decide how much to bite off. A couple long par 5's require big hts off the tee and 1 par 4 requires a very straight tee shot. All in all worth the trip and makes you want to play it again

Challenging Layout, Fair, Moderate Condition - Good Value

I enjoy playing Tanna Farms. Though a bit out of the way, the course offers some interesting challenges, and is a good value. The only significant cons are the lack of a practice range, the VERY small practice putting green, and the lack of rangers on the course.

Great Course, slow play ruined my day

Booked the round for myself and a buddy for $26.50 and then found out that on Mondays after Labor Day the rate is $25 normally. I guess I donated $3 to the course. Nonetheless, the golf course was in great condition and the only problem throughout the day is that there was a group of 16 (4 foursomes) in front of us that we killing the time for us. Rolling the round in at about 5 hours. This is a good course, not too challenging, so knowing how long it took is what drove us crazy the whole time. All in all, don't let groups of more than 8 out if they don't have the ability to match a courses difficulty.

lots of water

The course has 4 par 3's on the front 9. They were all challenging. The condition of the greens was above average and the ball rolled fast and true. I would recommend getting the course layout book for 1st time players. This was a super value at $46.50 cart included. No GPS, so have your own.

Short but challenging

The front nine is short and relatively easy to score on. However, the back nine is where they get you. Long par fours and difficult par threes make the scoring difficult. All in all it was a great track.
