Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Heritage Oaks Golf Course sprawls across a diverse terrain that provides the course with plenty of variety. The par-70 layout has both links-style holes and more traditional, tree-lined holes. The front nine is more player friendly. There are some good opportunities to build up your score before facing the tougher back nine. It's a tighter layout with more trees, demanding accuracy and careful course management. A stream meanders through the golf course, connecting to the ponds that also come into play, especially on the back nine. There are also several strategically placed bunkers that lurk along the greensides. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's player friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Four sets of tees make Heritage Oaks G.C. accessible to players of all skill levels.

Pretty nice for a municipally run course
Only problem was that the back 9 was closed for aeration. I feel that we should have been notified of that fact before arriving at the course.
this course is worth the time to play
I have played this course many times and its getting better each time. Its a good course for scoring
Great course
I love Heritage Oaks and choose to only play here. I've played most of the surrounding courses and honestly you can't get a better deal than here. Some days there are deals on golf now for $19 for a cart and 18... Phenomenal price. The course is in perfect condition, and staff are so nice and accommodating, unlike quite a few judgemental old guys I've seen at other courses. The front nine is mostly open, so you have some forgiveness to begin the round, and the back nine gets more challenging. I love the course and will only play here in the future. I'm a decent golfer and still find it pretty challenging, and I'd recommend this course to people of any skill level.
Great and a must play
This course was in perfect condition. fairways and greens super. Also the tee boxes. It was wet and so it was cart path only. The only drawback were the greens were a bit slow but thats because they had no chance to cut them due to the rain. If you get the chance play this muni and it was only $29 on the VSGA card and that was on a Sunday morning! Great course.
Excellent.
Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were in impeccable shape. I played in the rain and the greens maintained speed, no build up of water puddles. I can't wait to play it on a sunny day. A must play course. Enjoy

Never previously played this course, and glad I chose to. Staff is top notch.
Good Course/Great Value
I almost always play the course, at least once, when on vacation at the nearby Massanutten Resort. Hertitage Oaks is a fine golf facility that won't beat you up, even if you're a little rusty. It's reasonably priced and I got an even better deal from Golf Now. I'll be back, God willing.
This course is absolutely beautiful..
I had not played it since it opened in 2001 and I'm sorry I hadn't. Beautiful, well manicured course and the staff was very friendly. Tha pace of play was good and will not hesitate to make the 50 mile drive again soon.
Nice Course
The course was very nice and well maintained. The course was a little short though. I played from the black tees, which I don't normally due. I recommend the course and I will play there again.
Great course
The two of us played with our grandson. We found the course in great shape. it was manicured and very pretty. Staff was very courteous and pleasant. Marshal allowed us to play through when the pllay slowed.

Great course for the cost. I always enjoy playing here, course conditions are great and the staff couldn't be friendlier. I'll be returning throughout the season.

Rude Staff
This would a very nice crouse if not for being to wet everytime I play thier its soaked around the greens . Beside for that very nice crouse mhm but the Staff are the most unfriendly people I have ever met at a golf course. So do to this I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Decent Experience
Friendly staff. Got on quickly and course pace was good. My only complaint was all the loose, dry grass that remained on the course after they had obviously cut it. Lost a few balls that I did not hit off the course, but they were lost in the loose grass. That was frustrating.
Excellent Value
The staff of Heritage Oaks is excellent. The course is well cared for and was in superb condition. This the best value in the valley.
Regular golfer
Has some opportunities around the green which they are fixing. Pace of play can improve.

Wide open course. Some water hazards with huge greens. Nice course overall.
Early Season 3 Weeks After Aeration
Greens still pretty rough 3 weeks after aeration, but with unseasonable cold too, course in pretty good shape. It was a practice round and took son and 4 yr old grandson for his first play on course, which was fun to watch.
