I'm always a fan of playing from the back tees when they are tucked up in some trees above the fairway like here on #8. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2017

Disgusting golf course condition
We attempted to play this course today. Drove 40 minutes from our campground. Paid for 18 holes w/cart. The course was in such horrible condition, that we only played 9 holes. We were going to continue to play through 18 for the practice & exercise. It was so bad, we just gave up.
Extreme lack of any kind of maintenance from T box to fairway to sand trap to greens. Zero maintenance. Lost balls in the fairway, rough was so deep you couldn’t even begin to hit your ball even if you were lucky enough to find it. There are some pictures on their FaceBook page from other disgruntled players. We were not the only players on the course that were disgusted. I asked the manager, when we turned the cart in after 9 holes, “so what is your excuse for the condition of this course?” Of course he said - lack of help. I said, “restaurants close when they don’t have enough help. They don’t continue to suck money out of people.” I sympathize with the “no help” excuse - been there, done that but $65 for a horrible day is ridiculous. They better get a handle on that course or they’re going to loose the greens they have left. I’m sure at some point in time it was a gorgeous course - NOT NOW. So sorry we didn’t take any pictures - I think we were dumbfounded. Worse course we have ever played. We are 65 yrs old.
I'm sure was once a great course
What a beautiful view, that's it. The course has been neglected. Tee decks are beyond rough. Fairways are more like pasture. Green are patches of greens. I left after 12 holes, I'm sure pre covid this course would have been something to play. Tons of potential.
Wish I had played it 5 years a go
The course is rough all round. The fairways for most part are more like rough. The tee decks are terrible, some greens are terrible condition. It would be pleasure to play it got some TLC. Beautiful layout and design. Just rough, rough, rough.
Stay far, far away.
I’ll start off by saying I never leave reviews or complain but I felt it necessary and I’ll consider it a success if it convinces just one group not to play here. The fairways are bad. The rough is terrible. The greens were horrific. The tee boxes atrocious. Getting to the tee boxes you have to walk through hay fields because no grass has been mowed around them since 2006 (by my estimation). The fairways had large patches of grass the grounds crew seemingly missed and didn’t care to go back and cut the same length. Roughly half the greens are unplayable due to burns or just dead patches where grass can’t grow. We considered leaving after the first hole because it was that bad and we couldn’t get on the green due to the sprinklers running. What greens did have grass had no upkeep and putts had to be drilled from 10 feet just to get it a foot within the hole. We ended up playing 9 instead of 18 because every other course was completely booked but I would’ve gladly ate the $40 to change courses. Such a shame to see a course with so much potential and rumored to once be in such great shape slip away like it has. It needs to be sold or closed, and accepting people’s money to play here is highway robbery. The only positive review I can leave is that pace of play was fantastic but that’s because we were the only people who missed the memo to avoid this place.
This course has horrible upkeep.
If this course was taken care of properly and was maintained like a 5 star golf, then this course would be one of the best in the valley. Has a fantastic layout and has some of the best views of the valley for a mountain course. Just poorly taken care of.
Great price for Play
Packsaddle is a great course, with a lot of great looking golf holes. Have played here a handful of times and they’re steadily getting the course back to original greatness. If you like a challenge the Blue tees are for you here. Great layout and not a ton of opportunities to loose golf balls. All around great time even if you play by yourself.
Great Layout Poorly Kept
Love the way this course plays, but certain things are not well kept suck as the cart path. It was a bumpy ride in between holes, some greens were very patchy as well as bunkers filled with water
Apparently they have recently reopened after Covid shutdown so course not as pristine as when played 4 years ago. Stunning views and hope they are able to return to their pre-Covid conditions.
Do not play this course.
The course is recovering from being closed. Horrible shape.
Great course!
I played this course a few times a couple of years ago and always liked it very much. They closed the course after Covid hit and recently reopened. The course was in good shape except the greens have not come back completely, but they weren't too bad considering the course had sat there for over a year neglected. It is good to see the course reopened and I plan on playing it several times this year.
There is something special about the course, great layout and beautiful views. I love it! I would play it more often, but it is an hour and a half drive from where I live. If I lived close by I would play there all of the time.
Make sure you bring plenty of balls, if you miss the fairway you will be in trouble on a lot of the holes.
Shadow of its former self
Granted I hadn’t played this course since 2005 but it is pale in comparison to its former glory. The course was always challenging due to the elevation changes and narrower mountain fairways but it was kept up and beautiful. Now, the greens are in terrible shape, not a single rake in bunkers, no sand for divots at tee boxes or on the cart for fairways. Carts are also old, & clubhouse felt like a ghost town. After GolfNow’ processing fee it worked out to 53.38 a person which this course is way overpriced. Lakeview, or Shenvalee are much better options if in the area and using GolfNow. Some positives are the course wasn’t busy and the area is gorgeous with lots of wildlife which was enjoyable.
Getting better
Ordinary played in the late 2000’s when newly opened
Apparently financial issues saw the course conditions deteriorate. The course is well designed and original amenities top notch
Management is working hard to bring conditions back to the hey day.
Eel worth playing now as the prices are reasonable and the course is in improving condition.
Not very friendly to handicap individuals. Huge walk up to club house to get carts. Cart should be at the bottom.
challengeable
He was so kind and course was so beautiful.
Only defect was the inclement weather of sleet and 30 miles of gust.
But we enjoyed it so much.
Thanks
