Looking back at the 4th green. I really wish the course was in better shape. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2017

I'm always a fan of playing from the back tees when they are tucked up in some trees above the fairway like here on #8. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2017

Love the course
I love that its not crowded but they need new golf carts. This is the second time our cart stranded us on the 13th hole. The strap malfunctioned and dumped my clubs out which scuffed them and most of the brakes don't function. Its dangerous please work on this in the off-season.
P.... off 83 yr old.
This review for three tee times was neither requested or played. I haven’t played this course in several years. Something bad is going on either with Golfnow or some kind of hacking. My wife has stage four breast cancer and I’m hardly playing golf at all.
Fun day
Course in good shape except first cut was a little tall. Hard to find balls.
Carts need attention. Have to change at the turn so they won’t die.
Great day !
Four of us played today although it was trying to rain. Course in good shape. A couple of greens had issues but still playable. Carts need help (2 died on us). Did not change the day still waiting to go back.
not what it was
I played here years ago about four times as I travel through Va. What a let down. tees in very poor condition, uncut, No effort to remove leaves from anywhere on course. very friendly guy checked me in and got cart. no one else around. Views are great on this course but lack of maintenance is glaring. Every tee has a big rock with hole number, also description of how to play hole, all but one hole was so overgrown you couldn't see the description. sorry I played this time. I don't think I will be back.
Always something.
Gosh I would love to love this course. The layout is great and the views are spectacular. It was in the best shape I’ve ever seen and yet they hadn’t picked range balls all week and didn’t have any available and, although the course was in good shape, the practice green was completely dead. In really, really want to love this course and if you’re in the area, play it, but there is always something to keep it from 5 stars.
Great layout - Needs attention though
I could tell that this course used to be amazing. It just hasn’t been taken care of maybe in the last 10 years or so. Great layout, beautiful views, and some very difficult holes. If someone would just take care of it.
Ball Grabber
This hilly course presents substantial challenges. The fairways are thick, so you can easily lose your ball in the fairway, not to mention the abundant rough. There are water hazards and gullies. Signage is very poor, so you can easily lose your way trying to get around. The restrooms were filthy. No hint that anyone cleaned them ever. All that being said, the course is beautiful, so if you want a lovely afternoon in the outdoors, with spectacular vistas, this is the place.
New golfer
Great course. Have not played many but this one I go back to a lot. Gives me a challenge and lets me try new shots out. Friendly staff great prices and good food. You
First timer
As a first timer to play the course I found the course challenging and in the end found it kind of fun to play! As with any course playing at the first time you’re not sure where to go and what type of trouble you can get in. There was a fair amount of trouble finding the balls as the grass was due for a mowing. Kind of wish that The spent a little Time doing trimming and maintenance but for the price it was a fun time. Will probably play it again next time I’m here
Phenomenal location
Back nine in much better condition / manicured than front. Understand that much rain preceded play, but cutting needed. Beautiful location and view. Challenging up and downhill fairways.
Is what it is
Packsaddle has so much potential. Some beautiful views.
I’ve played here a lot. Condition varies from fair to awful. It’s been fair this fair, better than last year,
I take my 4yo with me and for $20 it’s perfect, if we only get a handful of holes in it’s not a big deal.
If you’re looking for a cheap course to play it’s perfect. If you’re going to be bothered by unplayable sand traps , greens with dead spots and crab grass in the fairways and tee boxes then go else where. If you’re just looking to get some swings in its great for that.
