decent course/slow play
Couse was in decent shape. It seems that the pace of play rather slow.. was not our first time there but it seems whenever we play there it is slow. Our round took slightly over 5 hours. When we arrived there were no carts available. Did not get the cart until 5 minutes after our tee time. teed off about 20 min. late. while we were waiting for the carts a few groups were complaining about the lack of carts every time they came and decided to get their green fees back and left.
Course needs attention
A very good design that is need of some attention. No rye over seed and greens are showing their age.
Great Greens-Average Fairways
Okay, all important golfer info first. USGA index 8.9. Age 64. Shot 78 at The Majors.
This hilly course (for FL) has a great layout and high quality greens. The fairways were a little rough in places, but we're all concerned much more about the greens and green complexes than fairways. Was in Melbourne on business and had a day to play. I wasn't disappointed. The fairways in NC are now dormant Bermuda, so it was great to have the ball sit up nicely in the fairway. Just notice more weedy grass than I would have expected. Played from the regular tees, White I think. Great value. $38, Sunday, GolfNow. Did not want to pay $80 at the other two well know courses in the area. Would play again. Very welcoming staff
Nice Course
Course was nice, they ran a little low on carts and we had to wait but once we got going we had a great time and the course was in nice condition.
Enjoyable Course...Does not Disappoint!!
Have played here most winters and it did not disappoint this winter either. We've always enjoyed playing this course and will continue to do so. The greens were moderately fast and well maintained. For winter, the fairways were very good. The tee blocks could use a trim, but, with all the other positives of this course...no worries. The layout is not the easiest to play, but, offers many little twists, water and bunkers to keep us on our toes for directions, distance and hazards. There are tree lined fairways and challenging holes over ponds or creeks. The traps were a bit settled and firmer than we'd like to see for a trap. The 13, 14 and 15 holes (very nice!) are a bit separate from the rest of the course, so, would recommend a riding cart. The clubhouse is very nice, offering a good pro shop and a cozy bar/dining area for the after game relaxation. We did not partake this time, so left the food and drink category unmarked. We set out for our 18 at 12:10 and completed our round at 3:40....AWESOME!!
Good condition
Greens were above average, price was good considering the time of year. Staff was friendly..a good value for the money..
Typical Fla course but fun.
Greens were great, fairways.... well its winter had some thinner lies as it had been a little dry. "Typical" as it is bordered by its share of houses. It makes up for all this with several very entertaining holes.... a sub 300 par 4 on the back and some challenging angles for those under 250 off the tees.
I love playing at this course!
This course is well maintained and the layout is perfect for beginners and low handicap players. I usually go play by myself but end up paring up with other people by choice. The locals that play here frequently are very friendly and a real pleasure to play wit! I rate this the best course in the area by a long shot!!!
Don't believe the website photos.
Yet another goat ranch in the Melbourne area. Poor Arnold Palmer having his name associated with this dump. People must believe that if it is cheap enough, no one will care about the conditions. That may apply to a certain demographic, but for the majority, no one wants to see horrible disrepair, scarred greens , failing golf carts and an all round lack of basic maintenance. Coming to this area, leave your clubs at home!
Course seems to be going down hill
Without a starter. Also no Ranger which is ridiculous. Foursome ahead of us wouldn't let us (2) players play through. They would look for lost balls for ten minutes. Never saw another group ahead of them entire round. Course management is lacking. On a positive note the course layout is fun and as challenging as you make it with your tee box selection. Will go back but be more aggressive if another foursome is so rude. Greens need serious attention.
Fun Arnold Palmer design,,
Fun Arnold Palmer layout. Variety of holes. Greens very good, fairways and rough are at 85% well maintained, and seem to be improving. Staff is very cordial. Overall for price is a good deal.
Very strong Par 3,s
Overall a good challenge with decision making off the Tee Box a must and a course where you must place the ball off the tee in the correct position in order to get a good view of the greens . Greens in fairly good condition and pretty quick . Both the Starter and the guy in the Pro Shop need to be taught a bit of manners and both were dismissive and rude.
not worth the money several other nicer courses in the area
several other nicer courses in the area.staff not very friendly. course needs much attention for this time of year
One of the toughest layouts in the area
It's a shame they are not keeping up the course in the summer, the tee boxes and fairways are full of weeds, although they are starting to spray on the back nine, watch out for #14 in a crosswind it's unplayable
Not all that!
You need to update your course information!
Very misleading! The course is not over 7300 yds. from the tips.
The scorecard and the Pro said 6900 yds.
Need to inform people when the greens are being punched!
Couse should have been closed for the punching - maintenance crews everywhere! Not impressed!
very slow pace of play
Nice course, particularly the back nine. However, I have never played a slower 18 holes of golf. Nearly 6 hours. Three groups at each tee box, 20 minute wait to tee off. They allow so many walk ons, clearly sending out too many groups too close together, and not managing the course with a ranger to keep up the pace of play. Very frustrating to play that slowly.
This course is my home course and has a lot of variety and challenging holes. Degree of difficulty is high!
Always a challenge playing this course from the green tees or the tips. Challenges your shot making skills. When the wind blows. The set up is completely different. Course condition varies. It can go from just being maintained to pristine in a matter of weeks. Over all course condition inconsistent!
Some of the greens had blight on them. The past few years the condition of the greens can go from just being maintained to pristine in a short amount of time. Unacceptable for a premier golf course! Over all course maintenance needs to be more consistent.
Great Palmer design
Challenging but fair. Great layout. Greens are smooth and fast.
Nice day at The Majors.
The course is in reasonably good shape when we played in August. If you play this course you should also play the Habitat in Valkaria. You got two good days there. Pretty nice lunch menu in the restaurant too. Nice day at the Majors. Enjoy.
good deal for the money
like most courses it can get pretty backed up and make a round last a lot longer than it shoud. But the course is normally in good shape for the price.
