Jimmy Clay Golf Course
About
Jimmy Clay Golf Course opened in 1974 with a 6,931 yard Joe Finger design that incorporates Williamson Creek. This track is flat as well, and is noted for its generous fairways and large, elevated greens. The first and last holes are perhaps the most memorable. No. 1 serves up a blind approach shot over a hill into a skinny green, and the 400-yard doglegged 18th plays into the wind with water on the left side.

Greens Are Absolutely Horrendous
There’s no grass on the greens. You are actually putting on dirt. And there’s no excuse for not having green greens. And they still charge like they had greens.
Greens don’t exist
I played Jimmy Clay today after not playing it for about nine years. The course overall was great BUT the greens were nothing but dirt. The grass must have had some fungus but there were patches of fuzzy grass over about 10% of each green, the most having about 30%. Putting on dirt was not fun! The tee boxes and fairways were in great shape, the greens were unacceptable. You would think this would come with a discount, nope. The staff at the pro shop didn’t even mention it. It was like a surprise they were proud of and wanted you to be surprised by it. We were shocked once we got to the first green alright. None of us could believe it. Stay away and call before you go to see if this problem has been fixed.
The greens are destroyed. The course has some of the worst greens I have ever played on and I play muni courses on a regular basis. The course itself is a standard mini course, but I would wait for the greens to be repaired before I would pay money to play here.
Greens are unplayable - Mud
Greens are embarrassingly bad. All are completely mud/ burned out grass by weather.
Course should be embarrassed. Terrible experience.
Please fix greens
By reading previous reviews, it obvious that something went wrong at Jimmy Clay's greens earlier this year. Not enough water? Too much fertilizer? Wrong chemicals? Greens don't completely die without a good reason. This was a fun course to play, except for all the greens. Someone needs to figure out how to bring the greens back. IPLEASE GET THIS FIXED. This is a great course and just needs some tender loving care on the greens.
Greens
Usually a pretty solid golf course, but the greens were browns. On every hole…
Disappointed
I love this course however the putting green are a disaster. Very little grass so you’re putting on sand painted green. I won’t play here again until I read some reviews stating the greens are fixed. I’ve heard both Kizer and Morris Williams are in similar condition.
Greens
the course is awesome. I am just disappointed with the greens. I know it's hard to maintain, but it's putting on concrete. Gotta hit the ball still, but it does not feel like a putting surface.
Greens are dead
Greens are fried. Mud with green spray paint. The rest of the course looks pretty good, guess I’ll have to skip out this summer.
Greens were unplayable
Very disappointed with the condition. Fairways were bare, and greens were bad. Flag positions were impossibly set for condition of greens - when you putt uphill and the ball stops and rolls back to your feet, something is wrong.
Rough shape
Course conditions are not great right now. Play here a lot but the greens are as bad as I have ever seen em. I’d probably wait until the spring.
Og course
Seriously,
This course is always on point, Austin staple!
Course in not great shape
Course in not great shape, super type fairway lies, crappy tee boxes and slow greens. If you want to play a muni go to Mo Willie instead, in better shape.
