About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 72
Length 6782 yards
Slope 129
Rating 72.7

Parlaying the successes of the Dallas-area Tour 18, Houston's version of America's greatest holes has become one of Harris County's most popular golf destinations. This one takes advantage of the Southeast Texas pines, with towering trees lining every hole, and the impressive conditions that have made both Tour 18s popular with the public.

Two holes stand out on the front side, and they're not the replicas of Augusta's Amen Corner (5-7 on this track). No. 1 is perhaps the most difficult on the course, intimidating off the tee because it is surrounded by wetlands. You'll need a solid drive to start well on this narrow, 440-yard hole. Bay Hill, La Costa, Inverness, and Pinehurst are also modeled, but the other great hole on the front is No. 9, a version of TPC Sawgrass's island hole.

Texas' own Colonial's third hole makes a showing on No. 12, and you'll get to see what Pebble Beach might feel like on No. 13. And those who've played the Dallas track know that the crew can sometimes get diabolical with their stimp-meter readings and pin placements, which is similar to what happens on No. 15-a replica of Shinnecock Hills' 8th hole. The green on this one slopes so heavily toward the front that a three-jack is almost certain.

Doral rears its head on No. 18, the perfect finishing hole for this track. Play the approach to the right side of the green, away from the water left, just like the pros do when they're protecting that precious lead.

Getting there : From US 59 north, turn right on FM 1960 and drive east for about 2 miles to the course entrance.

Really very good

The tee boxes were mostly very good.

The fairways were excellent.

The greens were excellent.

Carts were in good shape.

The sand traps were poor. Probably due to recent rains, but still, they require and need a new layer of sand to make them playable.

That was the only negative.

Would recommend to all player levels.

Tour 18 - April 2023 Review

The course was in great shape. 5 hour pace but not too surprising with it being Cart Path only and a difficult track. Replay rate of $40 is definitely something to consider.

Very surprised that they don’t have a slope rating established. Went in to post my score in GHIN and the course isn’t permitted on app. Strange to play a $100 + round that doesn’t have a slope rating established…

Over valued

No sand in bunkers, with the liner showing. Fringe of several greens should be ground under repair.

Over priced

The course in Dallas area has much nicer practice area and the round includes the range and at end of round they clean your clubs and they provide water on course. This location lacked in all the names areas for a $130+ price.

Fun replica layout

I really enjoyed this course every hole you pull up to is exciting to see if you recognize it from watching the PGA tour on TV. Fairways were in great condition as greens were too. The staff was friendly and helpful for a first time player. Only complaint is the greens were smaller which is fine just made approach shots difficult.

Average Course Not worth the Money

Course was in pretty good condition. Tee Boxes were way below average. In my opinion the hype is not worth the money. Could have and should have gone down the road to the Golf Club of Houston.

Greens were not good - I played there a few months ago and they were ok. They may be losing them.

Fun hole designs. In decent shape. Definitely worth it on a Hot Deal

Some really fun holes on this course. It is definitely memorable. It was in decent shape when I played it. Some bare tee boxes, some dead spots on the fringes or in the fairways. Hopefully now that it’s growing season, the course will grow in. Greens were pretty good. It’s a good time and I won’t forget playing here. If this course was in tip top shape, it would be difficult to get tee times because everyone would be lining up to play it.

Not worth $75.

Years ago I played the Tour 18 in Dallas, TX. It was in great shape, nice driving range. Sorry, I can’t say that about this Tour 18. The mats at the driving range where worn out. The course conditions where boarder line cow pasture. Crabgrass, bare areas. The green side bunkers where void of sand in spots. One of the bridges on the cart path was collapsed. It looked like it had been that way for awhile.

Will Need Work Now Through The Growing Season

Course conditions were OK, greens were good speed, did not hold (hard to find ball marks). Nutgrass/poana (sp) growing around some of the green fringes, very tight for chipping (winter), tee boxes need work many are uneven and slanting - alot of work should be done this Spring. Greens fees are higher than most in the area, except for GC of Houston. Staff is friendly. Drink and food prices are high, no water on the course, in Houston's hot weather that is not smart (no longer can covid be blamed). I play there somewhat regularly but this is the first review in a while, because the course conditions have been better, work needs to be done to this spring.
