About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 72
Length 6782 yards
Slope 129
Rating 72.7

Parlaying the successes of the Dallas-area Tour 18, Houston's version of America's greatest holes has become one of Harris County's most popular golf destinations. This one takes advantage of the Southeast Texas pines, with towering trees lining every hole, and the impressive conditions that have made both Tour 18s popular with the public.

Two holes stand out on the front side, and they're not the replicas of Augusta's Amen Corner (5-7 on this track). No. 1 is perhaps the most difficult on the course, intimidating off the tee because it is surrounded by wetlands. You'll need a solid drive to start well on this narrow, 440-yard hole. Bay Hill, La Costa, Inverness, and Pinehurst are also modeled, but the other great hole on the front is No. 9, a version of TPC Sawgrass's island hole.

Texas' own Colonial's third hole makes a showing on No. 12, and you'll get to see what Pebble Beach might feel like on No. 13. And those who've played the Dallas track know that the crew can sometimes get diabolical with their stimp-meter readings and pin placements, which is similar to what happens on No. 15-a replica of Shinnecock Hills' 8th hole. The green on this one slopes so heavily toward the front that a three-jack is almost certain.

Doral rears its head on No. 18, the perfect finishing hole for this track. Play the approach to the right side of the green, away from the water left, just like the pros do when they're protecting that precious lead.

Getting there : From US 59 north, turn right on FM 1960 and drive east for about 2 miles to the course entrance.

Will Need Work Now Through The Growing Season

Course conditions were OK, greens were good speed, did not hold (hard to find ball marks). Nutgrass/poana (sp) growing around some of the green fringes, very tight for chipping (winter), tee boxes need work many are uneven and slanting - alot of work should be done this Spring. Greens fees are higher than most in the area, except for GC of Houston. Staff is friendly. Drink and food prices are high, no water on the course, in Houston's hot weather that is not smart (no longer can covid be blamed). I play there somewhat regularly but this is the first review in a while, because the course conditions have been better, work needs to be done to this spring.

Fun course

Pace of play excellent. Fun playing different holes from other courses. A little over priced, luckily we got good deal through teeoff. Favourite hole was Dawgrass par three always see it in TV and I made a par lipped put for a 2. Recommend to play great concept to replica holes.

Tough tour

Played on a bitterly cold and wet day just after some big storms had come through. Some of the flags had been blown out of the holes so we had to put them in but the cse staff were great and gave us a discount, they were great. Course itself, there had been tonnes of rain overnight and some of the bunkers were full of water but most of the cse was playable and the greens and fairways had drained well. Some of the greens were a little bare and need some new season growth. but still rolled true. Many very enjoyable, classic and pretty holes, not too tough a cse but the weather made it challenging. Great day out, well worth it, i will come back for a 3rd attempt.

Great shape

Course was in great shape and it’s always fun to play Tour-18! Pace of play was good as they were pretty busy. Weather 74 and sunny .. doesn’t get much better.

Awesome

Loved this course. Greens and fairways were beautiful. Got my first birdie ever and I have been playing for 4 months. It was on 17, birdies the putt which sat right off the green on the fringe.

Layout great, no drinking water on course!

Fun layout, greens rolled well. Enjoyed the round except for one thing - no drinking water on the course. Are you kidding me? Houston, TX and no water on the course.

Great Day at Tour 18

My first time back in a year and the course was in great shape for late February. Apart from slow greens and bunkers in desperate need of additional sand (basically hardpan lies with a thin layer of sand), the course was in great shape!!
