Parlaying the successes of the Dallas-area Tour 18, Houston's version of America's greatest holes has become one of Harris County's most popular golf destinations. This one takes advantage of the Southeast Texas pines, with towering trees lining every hole, and the impressive conditions that have made both Tour 18s popular with the public.

Two holes stand out on the front side, and they're not the replicas of Augusta's Amen Corner (5-7 on this track). No. 1 is perhaps the most difficult on the course, intimidating off the tee because it is surrounded by wetlands. You'll need a solid drive to start well on this narrow, 440-yard hole. Bay Hill, La Costa, Inverness, and Pinehurst are also modeled, but the other great hole on the front is No. 9, a version of TPC Sawgrass's island hole.

Texas' own Colonial's third hole makes a showing on No. 12, and you'll get to see what Pebble Beach might feel like on No. 13. And those who've played the Dallas track know that the crew can sometimes get diabolical with their stimp-meter readings and pin placements, which is similar to what happens on No. 15-a replica of Shinnecock Hills' 8th hole. The green on this one slopes so heavily toward the front that a three-jack is almost certain.

Doral rears its head on No. 18, the perfect finishing hole for this track. Play the approach to the right side of the green, away from the water left, just like the pros do when they're protecting that precious lead.

Getting there : From US 59 north, turn right on FM 1960 and drive east for about 2 miles to the course entrance.

It was disappointed

I may expected too much. The course condition was fair. Hole 9 was under repaired which was disappointed not to play an island green hole. All green were also slow. Cart does not have GPS. The brake was difficult to operate. We were told all carts are the same. If the course is to be premium course than make it so. If it is for so so course, then it is just a good course but not premium course.

I would say overall the course was in Great Shape! My only two Critiques is that, had I known the Island Green was closed, I probably would not have booked this tee time. I fully understand maintenance has to happen. Either it was my mistake and didn't read that it was closed or it was just not clear that it was closed. I also had issues with the lawn mowers. Usually when the players/customers are in the area they maintenance people will turn off or stay away from the players/customers. That day there were a few times where that did not happen. They either kept working like we were not there and did not power off the machines. I must say though, the course was in a Great Shape! My Critique by no means means I did not enjoy our round. Just being honest with my experience.

Stuck in the mud off the 12th green

I was already disappointed when the island green on 9 was out due to repairs. Then I get stuck in the mud off the 22th green. Called the pro shop for a tow at 345 pm. It’s 415 and still waiting. Someone should rope this unseen muddy area off. It appears like deep grass.

No good experience as a year ago

When we checked in they have notice saying “Sorry Tour 17!”. Hole 9th was closed due to maintenance so I thing the should contact the player in advance so we are aware of the situation but we were not notified and when we checked in we couldn’t do anything. And also car pad and the course was fairly dry

It was OK

The facilities were showing their age. Unfortunately, #9 (Sawgrass 17) was closed for emergency renovations. The course was in very good condition for the most part. Play was slow the back 9 and no marshals were there to keep things moving along....bad move for a Sunday.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to a friend given so many other choices for the same or less money.

Not Once when I Booked the Tee Time or when I checked in prior to the round was it mentioned that the Island green Hole was down for repairs and I would only be playing 17 holes. No Rebate/Discount was offered, no 19th hole.

17 holes isn't a round of golf :(

Was a terrific course at one time and run well. However this time not so. Not told that number 9 was closed for repairs pace was very slow and Course a little edgy. Not worth the money felt we should have been told about course conditions would have saved money.

This course is overpriced.

The golf carts are dangerously placed near the elevated walkway. Someone can get seriously hurt stepping into the golf cart from an elevated walkway.

Horrific pace of play

They let a 6 some tee off at 7:20 AM on a Friday. I know this because the starter told us when I asked him we were backed up already for our 7:50 tee time. We left after 15 holes and 4:20 of play. Horrendous. I’ll never go back.
