About
Parlaying the successes of the Dallas-area Tour 18, Houston's version of America's greatest holes has become one of Harris County's most popular golf destinations. This one takes advantage of the Southeast Texas pines, with towering trees lining every hole, and the impressive conditions that have made both Tour 18s popular with the public.
Two holes stand out on the front side, and they're not the replicas of Augusta's Amen Corner (5-7 on this track). No. 1 is perhaps the most difficult on the course, intimidating off the tee because it is surrounded by wetlands. You'll need a solid drive to start well on this narrow, 440-yard hole. Bay Hill, La Costa, Inverness, and Pinehurst are also modeled, but the other great hole on the front is No. 9, a version of TPC Sawgrass's island hole.
Texas' own Colonial's third hole makes a showing on No. 12, and you'll get to see what Pebble Beach might feel like on No. 13. And those who've played the Dallas track know that the crew can sometimes get diabolical with their stimp-meter readings and pin placements, which is similar to what happens on No. 15-a replica of Shinnecock Hills' 8th hole. The green on this one slopes so heavily toward the front that a three-jack is almost certain.
Doral rears its head on No. 18, the perfect finishing hole for this track. Play the approach to the right side of the green, away from the water left, just like the pros do when they're protecting that precious lead.
Getting there : From US 59 north, turn right on FM 1960 and drive east for about 2 miles to the course entrance.

Slowest Round Ever Played
Course was very nice. Took 5 hours to play 18… never saw a ranger

Stuck in the mud off the 12th green
I was already disappointed when the island green on 9 was out due to repairs. Then I get stuck in the mud off the 22th green. Called the pro shop for a tow at 345 pm. It’s 415 and still waiting. Someone should rope this unseen muddy area off. It appears like deep grass.

No good experience as a year ago
When we checked in they have notice saying “Sorry Tour 17!”. Hole 9th was closed due to maintenance so I thing the should contact the player in advance so we are aware of the situation but we were not notified and when we checked in we couldn’t do anything. And also car pad and the course was fairly dry

It was OK
The facilities were showing their age. Unfortunately, #9 (Sawgrass 17) was closed for emergency renovations. The course was in very good condition for the most part. Play was slow the back 9 and no marshals were there to keep things moving along....bad move for a Sunday.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to a friend given so many other choices for the same or less money.

Disappointed
Not Once when I Booked the Tee Time or when I checked in prior to the round was it mentioned that the Island green Hole was down for repairs and I would only be playing 17 holes. No Rebate/Discount was offered, no 19th hole.
17 holes isn't a round of golf :(

Not what it used to be
Was a terrific course at one time and run well. However this time not so. Not told that number 9 was closed for repairs pace was very slow and Course a little edgy. Not worth the money felt we should have been told about course conditions would have saved money.

This course is overpriced.
The golf carts are dangerously placed near the elevated walkway. Someone can get seriously hurt stepping into the golf cart from an elevated walkway.

Horrific pace of play
They let a 6 some tee off at 7:20 AM on a Friday. I know this because the starter told us when I asked him we were backed up already for our 7:50 tee time. We left after 15 holes and 4:20 of play. Horrendous. I’ll never go back.

Hole 9 Currently Closed
Tour 18 is always in good shape and that was the case again this week. Unfortunately hole 9 is completely shut down right now for renovations. No temporary green or anything. So until further notice you're paying for 17 holes, making the $70 weekday price tag a little hefty. They also removed all water coolers from the course (been that way for a while) so bring your own water or buy some in the clubhouse. I don't think I'd play here again until hole 9 is back up and running but once that happens it'll resume its spot it my normal rotation.

Construction
Construction on course brought overall rating down.

Fun Courss
Very cool to play some of the most iconic holes in golf. Greens were in pretty good shape, as was the fairways. The tees were in horrible condition, I thought. The staff did a horrible job of managing the pace of play. They should have put a bunch of twosomes together. The starter should have explained the cart path only rules and what holes that was on. It was pretty dry, so it wasn't needed. It was fun to play, but wouldn't be my course of choice if I lived here.

Slow Play
The greens are in very good condition, as is much of the course. There are quite a few temporary tee box’s that are not level or in good shape. However, the two groups in front of us were playing from the Tips, they shouldn’t have been and were looking for balls on every hole. The Marshall was driving around but I never saw him say anything. Hole 9 is still under repair and you have to skip it. They are building subdivisions on many of the holes so there is tons of construction. Normally, I like playing here, but I will wait a year or so to let them finish all the work going on.
