Oak Harbor Golf Club
About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

This Course needs new carts
Got a great deal today. However they tried to charge me the full $52.00 until I told them I paid online. For $52.00 I would expect carts with GPS and Coolers. It was very hot 108 with the heat index. Cooler with Ice would have been welcomed.
The course does need some work. Several of the fairways have sink holes. Lost 2 balls that landed in the middle of the fairway.
Other than slow groups in front that wouldn’t let a single play through, course was in pretty good shape considering the heat in south louisiana. The tee boxes could use a little bit of leveling and work. Overall good course
Not so great
The course drained very well being it stormed the day before. But the rough had not been cut in at least week, The greens were overgrown, and the tee boxes weren’t that great either. Members at this course have the worst etiquette. They cut in front of a couple groups at the turn and slowed the pace of play by 20 minutes which was playing slow as it was.
Fun Course, challenging water features
The course is in good shape relative to surrounding courses. The people were friendly. Quite nice scenery. We lost a few balls into the water which is prevalent throughout this enjoyable course.
Not enough bang for your buck!
Unless you find a cheap hot deal I would not recommend this course. If anything Joseph Bartholomew is about 30 minutes away half the price and is better kept in my opinion.
Good layout
Course was a little rough. Had to wait half an hour for a cart. Staff especially the starter were great. Will be back soon.
Love early start
I love the early morning start because I usually play alone and very fast. The clubhouse needs work. If I have a 7:01 am tee time, why is the restroom dirty? Filthy is more accurate. The clubhouse really needs to take the next step with having a more inviting appearance. This could be a 1st class facility with the proper care.
Best in the area
I play this course about once a month. Nice driving range, putting and chipping greens to warm you up. The course greens are always in great shape and roll true. No bouncing or bare spots. Upgrades are being made to sand traps and tee boxes. Fairways are generously wide and rarely have bad spots. Great little links style course that is always a pleasure to play. There are a mixture of long and short(don’t let the distance fool you) par 4s, challenging par threes and scorable par fives.Water hazards are present on many holes. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Best course in the area!
OAK HARBOR X2
COURSE IN GOOD SHAPE. THEY ARE WORKING ON THE BUNKERS BUT WILL IMPROVE THE COURSE. CARTS ARE OLD AND NEED REPAIR. BUT OVERALL THIS WAS A GREAT DAY OF GOLF.
Booked on Golf Now
The course was in very good shape. The bunker's were under repair but this will improve the course. The course was very dry but there has not been much rain in our area for some time but despite this the greens were in excellent condition and rolled well. Course is built around lake and some holes are very windy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Driving range was ok needs better yardage makers. putting green was in great shape. The golf carts need and update but are adequate just old. I would definitely play again at this price point was well worth it/

Bunkers are going to be so much better after they are finished
Course Improvement Recommendations
New carts are needed. Course Geo-fencing needed badly, to protect greens and from creating make shift paths. Fairways are ok, but several potholes need to be filled in properly, rough areas need weed treatment. Club house needs power washing and painting, and restaurant needs painting and carpet replacement.
Good for the money
Overall nice course. Tee boxes need some work. Greens were nice and the pace of play was good.
Course improving
It's been a while since I played but Oak Harbor but the course has definitely improved. The greens were well maintained. The fairways were inconsistent and some could be better but I like how they are progressing.
