About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

First time playing Oak Harbor
Loved this course layout. Greens were well kept and not too daunting for a mid to high handicapper.
Pace of play
We played on Saturday. I expect it not to be quick. But you should never let a group of 5 out on a weekend. We were behind them waiting 10 minutes on average on each tee. Finally got frustrated and quit. Told your personnel in the pro shop and they said "Sorry". Spoiled the entire round.
Needs work
I was expecting the course to be in better conditions. Tee boxes were not good and fairways had weeds. Starter let off 3 singles in a row after our tee time and had to let each one go through seemingly every 3 holes.
2 star
Fairways were hard as the concrete cart path. Greens were aerated and was not told anything till we practiced on the putting greens. Overgrown grass everywhere. St. Augustine grass in spots off the fairways.
Pace of play.
Course was in great shape. Unfortunately two groups slowed down the entire field. No one making sure everyone kept up a decent pace of play. Left after thirteenth hole due to waiting over an hour to play 10-12.
Needs lots of work
Oak Harbor I can be a beautiful course. It just needs lots of love. But trust me I’ve also played worse courses.
Course was awesome
As a first time player of this course, it was a very nice layout to the course, and the greens were in great shape. Would definitely play again, and soon!
Needs work
Nice layout, nice greens. Fairways need a lot of work. Could be a really nice course. Tee boxes need work as well.
Grounds under repair
Fairways were full of large repair holds, mounds of dirt
Spots with no grass
Guess they are redoing drainage
It has been like this for at least 2 weeks
