Oak Harbor Golf Club
About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

Need a bite of caring
Course layout is great
Fairways had suffered from hurricane at some places and it does look that is in progress
Restroom, carts and clubhouse need to get cleaner
Overall it was a good value for this hot deal
Really enjoyable round. A 5some slow things a bit but after getting around them everything went well. Course in excellent shape. We said after the round how nice the experience was.
Falling Apart
The greens are still great, but the course is falling apart. The golf course cart path's and the golf cart itself were pretty bad.
Potential galore
Very good layout/design makes this a challenging course. What also makes it challenging is the poor conditioning, i.e bare spots, sink holes, unkempt sand bunkers, & unlevel tee boxes. Also, the cart paths are a disaster, like driving thru the streets of NOLA, especially, Lakeview. The clubhouse could also use a thorough scrubbing & paint job. In spite of this, I really enjoy it even though it gives me fits. The greens are always great except when they get sanded. Bottom line, it needs an injection of funds, that, apparently current ownership lacks, to make improvements. Maybe this will happen, if the proposal for the nearby casino gets approved. It is my understanding that the casino might make a pitch to make Oak Harbor part of their plan. That would be great for the course [& the golfers] and the surrounding property owners, who would a bump in property values with the course becoming first class. My opinion. We will see.
It’s been awhile
Haven’t played here since last December, greens is in great shape! Fun day afternoon
Visiting
Oak Harbor is a jewel i like everything about course. The course and layout itself took me back to course in Florida good day
Nice layout
Fairways very dry and grass thin. Greens were hard , needs watering everywhere
Goat ranch with good greens
Sand traps have pretty much been abandoned. Lots of sink holes and burnt out spots on fairways. Staff was very pleasant. Would still go back and play.
Course conditions Not very good
Course is suffering from the hurricane. Tall grass in the fairways, piles of cut grass litter the fairways and especially on par 3’s.
Going to stay away from this course until it’s back in condition.
Needs work
Coarse not in good shape. Greens were ok. Coarse was dry but for some reason no one was cutting grass. Cutting grass would go along way.. Clubhouse was dirty, bathroom was nasty.
