This course is not "easy" :-)
I lost 4 balls..woods & water abound.. lol.............
Fun and challenging course
The Habitat has everything from long par 5's to challenging par 3's. Lots of water and sand traps placed in front of every green.
No Condos or Homes on Course
This is a above average course that sits between Melbourne and Sebastian Fl. It is out in the wilderness without any residential buildings which is a real plus. Depending on the time of year it can be pristine or worn out . Fall is best for conditions and the spring is the worst . It's definitley better than most public courses. The club house is basiclly a double wide trailer. Carts are in good shape. You can pay $15 to $55 depending on the time of year booking thru Golf Now.
great public course
this is a challenging public course that is a fantastic deal. fast greens
Nice course
Challenging course with placement off the tee a must. The greens right now need attention but the summer rains will take care of them.
Great layout
Course is a great layout but is in horrific condition weeds growing greens lots of dead spots in fairways and in some spot there was no grass just sand and no those we're not bunkers because they had no sand
Love this course
Love the layout and scenery of this course. It is in pretty good shape. A few bad spots on some greens but overall a good day of golf.
This course is is challenging i.e. (blind shots, ball placement)
Overall good golf experience, greens are fast but need a little work, and a few more signs on how to get to some holes. Friendly staff which is always a plus.
One of the better courses that I have played this year.
This course was a great value for the money, and in quite good condition considering the lack of any measurable precipitation lately. We played this course in 4hours and 15minutes which is good for this time of year.
Good course, visually pleasing, lots of water
The course was good. Some target shots from a few tees. Lots of water. Greens putted nicely, faster than most
very nice experience.
Very nice experience. warmed up on the driving range and putting greens then put in 18 holes. The greens and fairways were nicely maintained and faster than I expected for a county course (that's a good thing). Had a hot dog and a nice chat in the clubhouse too.
They dont like singles...
What course rejects singles? thats just bad customer service. The club house guy couldent even be bothered with me and reluctantly let me play. oh wow! thanks! like he was doing me a favor or something. Great track and when in good shape awsome! (which isint usually the case)
Great track, sometimes hard to get on
I have played this course many times over the years, and considered it my home course until tee-times became difficult to book. It seems there are many regulars and groups that play often, and most of my ideal times get booked quickly, so I only visit occasionally now. That aside, I have almost always had good experiences at The Habitat, know most of the staff by name, and been treated very cordially. It was here that I truly started learning my game, this course commands your attention off the tees, fairways are almost always a must, if you stray even slightly you will likely be in the hammock and pull another ball from your bag. The wildlife is abundant, some days you will see almost every type of native critter you can imagine. Once you get to the green, which despite the traffic are usually well maintained, there are a wide variety of breaks, and learning the nuances of them can be a huge advantage when you bring your out-of-town guests to play. My favorite hole is probably 9, a short par four with a water hazard fronting the green, which can also swallow your tee shot if you aren't careful. For myself the most difficult holes have been 4, 5 and 7 on the front, and 10 and 15 on the back, aside from par 3 #4, the rest I consider difficult par 4s. I recommend this course to anyone seeking a good challenge and a quiet natural setting.
Better than the average muni/county course.
I have played this course occasionally over the years, so this review incorporates all of those rounds.
The course is interesting and above average in design. It takes advantage of its rural location and nestles into its habitat, hence the name.
It has the usual level of municipal course maintenance. Lots of divots on the tees and poor driving range condition, but greens are very nice and quick for a muni.
Customer contact staff seem to be volunteers. Not very organized starter and confusion often occurs. His priority seems to be tee time calls that distract him from golfers checking in. Pace of play depends on the volunteer ranger. No one surly, but not profit motivated either. You won't feel like tipping anyone.
Great Value
Fairways & greens in very good condition. Prices are very good. Pace of play could have been better, but not terrible. Will definitely play again.
Player friendly
Tee'd off earlier then time and played18 in less then 3.5 hrs on
a Thur afternoon. Some shot thought has to be put into some holes from the box. especilly when wind is present. Overall tee
to green is player friendly. Traps could be better sand but are
playable.
great wide fairways....very picturesque
this course is definitely a challenge for a novice but fun also.
This course was a very nice course and a great deal
The course is very fair and not difficult with good course management. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Good Value...Slow
Played Habitat on Thursday, Jan.3.13 and enjoyed the course. The course was in good shape. The greens had winter color, but, rolled true. The flag placement in some cases was tough, or it was just the putter at fault (or the one using it.). The fairways were green, trimmed and on the damp side...not much roll. The sand traps are well placed and have soft, fine grain sand...nice, but, tough non the less. This course has water on many holes with carry over on a couple of them. There is challenge and enjoyment to had by most average golfers. For the pros, you can drive your distance, but, be careful about the placement or the woods will gobble up the ball. The only negative we had was the slow pace on the back nine...waited 5 minutes on every hole!! Not great for a steady pace player...interest does wain when you wait too much. Would recommend this course to be played earlier in the day, as our 12:15 tee time caused the back up. Have fun.
nice course greens in good shape
course was in beautiful shape and with golf now the price was right
