White Heron Golf Club
About
White Heron Golf Club (formerly known as Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club) has had many accolades over its history and for good reason. The Ted McAnlis layout is sculptured from lush rolling land and features immaculate playing conditions year round. Water and natural wetlands come into play on 16 of our 18 holes and the resident breeze can significantly change the course from day to day. Yet despite the natural beauty and obvious pedigree of the layout, with four sets of tees the course is still enjoyable for golfers of all levels.

Starter Needs an Attitude adjustment
Second time playing the course. Layout is fun and challenging , with a variety of different shots and holes. Greens were HARD AS A ROCK today, but rolled incredibly true.
However the starter today,, was as rude as I’ve ever seen anyone at a Public course. Snarky comments to our group, and to another gentleman we observed as he was trying to tee off. It’s staff like this that can run people off from a new place.
Beautiful course
This is the most attractive and well maintained course we have played during our three weeks here. Beautiful lakes, great condition fairways and greens. Our front nine was fantastic then we hit some guys playing as an 8 ball which slowed everything down to a snails pace. Such a shame after a great start. Unfortunately no marshal came round to sort it out. The pro shop wasn't interested either. Shame some selfish people who thought the course was theirs ruined it for everyone else.
Good change of PACE
I had a 1150 tee time (Single). I got there a few min early. I was able to get out right away. Course is in good shape. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all very playable. Sand traps need some work, but just stay out of them! Played the first 13 holes in 1 hour and 25 mins! I ran into a foursome who for some reason it took 2 more holes to get thru. Played 18 holes in less than 2.5 hours. Already booked another round.
Improving
They’ve clearly spent a lot of money to get this up to a reasonable standard. Not sure whether the Black tees will be sustainable as they’ll need seriously good golfers playing them to make them worthwhile and the rest of the course won’t attract that level of golfer. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not in bad condition, but the priority should be grassing the fairways more and improving the bunkers and the reception area.
It’s a challenging layout for regular golfers.
Unfortunately, the clubhouse is more like a MacDonalds eating area and the reception desk staff don’t appear very motivated. Cart guy was friendly and helpful.
White Heron - A course reborn
White Heron formally Ridgewood lakes was impressive for my first visit to this club from UK. I've been coming to Orlando for 25 yrs so I've played quite a few in the area.
Glyn in the Pro Shop is a gentleman and couldn't be more helpful.....a real credit to the club.
Course was challenging and in very good condition, despite the recent wet spell Greens were excellent and a nice speed.
There is improvement work going on and they are really trying to get this place right but the work isn't affecting playing.
Great course, fun to play....ill be back!
Nice course
Course is generally in good shape. You can see they are working to improve the things that are not quite where they should be. Crowns around the holes were really bad this time. Perhaps one day they will actually teach the staff the proper way to install the holes
Fabulous day out
We played this course last week and enjoyed it so much, came back again today. Can not fault anything, the new owners have made some fabulous changes, both on and off the course.
Thanks again for 2 great rounds
Excellent Course
Played there on 4/10/23 and the week before. Practically had the course to ourselves. Staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The course itself is beautiful. Greens were good. Bunkers need some work but still ok. This course is a real gem and well worth a visit.
Full welcome for the Brits
Great welcome to the club, everything explained and advice given on first tee.
Would recommend to anyone, but not the easiest of courses
Thanks
Nice Course
This course is friendly and challenging. I would recommend this course. They are fixing several areas which at completion it will be awesome.
Course Review
The course layout is excellent, and mostly enjoyed the round. Clearly work is being done to improve the course, and given time hopefully it will become a very nice facility. Still some way to go, especially on the bunkers, but efforts are being made to make the improvements needed.
White Herin
Kudos to staff for bringing this gem out of the rough. Tough but fair layout. Lots of water. In process of flipping the nines. Worth the drive.
What a delight
This review coming from local who has played all the central Florida courses over the last 35 years. Stumbled upon this place after finding it on GolfNow. I snagged the first time of the day on a Sunday ($40) excellent value. The court is very well maintained. The greens were in excellent shape as were the fairways and tee boxes. Hardly any brown spots around. You’ll pay double or triple for a Sunday morning tee time at one of the touristy resort courses. The grass honestly reminded me of some of the courses up north in Wisconsin that are always in great shape because they don’t get overheated.
White Heron
Challenging track. Lots of water. Team is doing a great job bringing this course back from oblivion.
For the record, my group was not the one trying to play as a fivesome and that was not what the issue with the starter was.
All in all great course though. Would still recommend others to go play.
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club, we appreciate your business, but concerning this matter, there was an issue with your group wanting to play as a fivesome and our starter would not allow this. I apologize for any disagreement you might have had with our starter and hope to see you again.
