The lush tropical beauty and natural scenery of Tampa Bay creates a grand backdrop for River Hills Country Club, a superbly conditioned, 18-hole, par 72 course where golf is the gateway to a private club experience. One look at the Joe Lee-designed, precisely manicured layout and you'll know that golf is the focal point at River Hills. Set amid more than 200 acres of inland countryside near Brandon, River Hills offers just about every golf challenge imaginable. It features multiple tees, undulating greens and fairways with a good mix of sand, trees and water.

Attention to Detail
The course was empty, and I know why. The fairways were quite bare. It does not appear that it was over-seeded. Greens were ok, but bumpy.
One question. Did anyone supervise the installation of the granite signs?!
What a Difference a Couple Months Makes
I played there a couple months ago and was not impressed...the greens had bare spots, had to move ball in fairway to find grass and the tee boxes had many bare spots. I heard the course was in much better shape, so I gave it another chance...WOW, was I surprised. The greens, fairways and tee boxes had been punched over a month ago, and had recovered beautifully. Fairways are getting plush along with tee boxes and the greens are rolling well. In another couple months, River Hills will once again be one of the best courses in area.
Bad shape
Played in late Feb, 2020. Perfect. Course is in very poor shape: grass, greens, fairways. Layout OK. Would not recommend this course.
Pleasantly Surprised
Course was in good condition, the fairways are plush and greens are running fast and true. The River Hills app with GPS was a big help and Robbie, the Assistant Pro in shop couldn't have been more helpful.
Great Layout
River Hills is an outstanding Layout. Course got a new superintendent a couple months ago...he is making great improvements to greens and fairways. Stay below the cup on most holes as many undulating greens abound. Staff is very friendly and courteous.
