Good Day,But…
I played this course some 25yrs ago. Amazing staff and friendly members,(it’s private) free range valls included with round(this should be at all course) at least a small bucket
Tee boxes were A+. They were flat, in great shape and mowed like fairway grass. Fairways were generously wide and divots would fly if you struck an iron shot well!
The greens were extremely firm, they would hold a well struck fairway shot, anything else it would release of the green. When the ball landing on greens with a chip it sounded like a dropping a ball on a pool table. There were many diseased spots on the greens, and seemed like it been there for awhile. Bunkers looked redone, when played here 25yrs ago bunkers were vast and difficult, now they are a 1/3 the side and basic. If this is in effort to help pace of play or by request of membership so be it! Sand was very fluffy n thin and difficult.
Overall the layout is challenging and with the greens being do firm n fast it made a great day on the GC just stressful and tiresome watching your ball roll past the hole asking it to stop n it just never did!
If this course had watered just little to soften up the greens a bit enjoyment could’ve been had! Just a tough day of golf with a price tag!
Outstanding
I had never heard of this course. I truly recommend it. The layout was very nice and the course was beautiful. They only thing that kept me from giving this a perfect rating is all the greens were top dressed. That however had little to know impact on the roll. They were fast and true. I am not much of a country club guy, but this place was really nice and I would definitely play it again if the opportunity arises.
Great layout
Great layout fun course. Obvious it is still recovering from all the work done to the course and needs some more time.
Solid conditions
River Hills was in very good condition. Been a couple years. Massively improved.
Great course, great layout, but they were repairing the greens in March so they were playing super fast
A nice surprise at River Hills Golf Club
I wasn't sure what to expect at River Hills. But I found a good rate on GolfNow. The warm-up area was great. Driving, putting, and chipping. Balls provided in all areas. There was no starter. On your honor to wait until your TT. The round took less than four hours. Course was in pretty good shape, especially the tee boxes and the fairways. There were only a few brown spots. There were quite a few completely empty lagoon/retention ponds. The course was really embedded into the housing development surrounding the course. You could see that some of the homes needed repair and upkeep, especially the landscaping after the cold spell we had. Lots and lots of dead bushes and trees around the homes. The course felt empty, but that was fine with us. We went into the clubhouse after for a beer and there were a few people sitting at the bar, maybe 10 people including us three. All the carts have navigation and the annoying restriction where you can drive the car, but that seems normal these days. The course rating from the red tees was 129. So there were some challenges. The greens were fast, which was great. All in all a great day. We each paid $88 all in. If you haven't been, I would recommend it.
Great course in great condition
Staff was extremely welcoming and courteous. Would highly recommend playing here and we will again.
Nice course / Slow pace
Very good conditions, great sand in traps, greens were great. Pace of play slow…we left after 15 holes.
3 groups on the same hole several times on the back 9.
Weekday Round
Course was in good condition and the staff was very friendly
Great Course
Challenging yet fair test of golf from the green tees (6400). Greens over seeded which provided color without detracting from speed. Par 3’s were excellent. Like many courses in the area, the drought effects are evident, but RHCC is well maintained and extremely playable.
Terrible Pace of Play
Did a member for a day through golf now and I’d be infuriated if I were actually a member here. Course was in pretty lackluster shape, but with the recent cold spell that’s not something I’d hold against them. However, the churlish staff in the pro shop and the lack of someone to enforce pace of play I will. It took almost 4 hours to play 9 holes.
Nice course just dry and burnt out
Most courses in this area I have played recently are dry and burnt out so no suprise. Bunkers were nicely kept. Greens were above average. Would play again
Great Course, Friendly staff
Great course, loved the layout, staff were friendly. Has huge chipping and putting area for practice, along with driving range. You're layout was great with challenging holes. Greens are starting to come in, fairways too, tee boxes are in great shape. Couple months of some growth and the course will be perfect.
