Golfer Reviews
Saturday golf at Glenlakes
So I booked a tee time for 245 last Saturday as a single. I’ve been playing long enough to know that on a Saturday playing as a single is typically not ideal as the pace of play will be pretty slow. I definitely don’t mind getting paired up with others and actually asked one or two groups if I could play alongside them. Long story short I started off on the dunes and within an hour I had only played three holes in. This was obviously not going to work so I went back to the clubhouse and spoke with the two gentlemen inside. I must say I was shocked as they lead me over to the lakes and let me play there before going over to the dunes for the back nine. It was a great experience as I was able to finish 18 in right about three hours. If you guys are reading this I greatly appreciate you taking the time to make my day enjoyable especially having drove an hour just to come play this course.
Pace of play
... could be better. We always seem to get behind a group that is very slow, take multiple practice shots and wait for the group to get to the green before they tee off. Then they don't hit the ball very well. But .. it's a great course. Dunes is very challenging.
Slow
Took 3 1/2 hours to play 9 holes. Waited every shot on every hole. Can only imagine how long it would take without rangers.
Home of Slow Play
I’ve played this course twice in less than a week. Each round was well over 5 hrs. Waited on every shot for two rounds. 8 minutes between tee times doesn’t work for average golfers. These people spend a minimum of 15 - 20 minutes on each hole.
I love this course layout and the green speed. That’s the only reason I return.
Course is a hidden gem in the area compared to local courses
Top Notch!
Always a fun and challenging course to play with friends. A little windy at times, but the course was in good condition overall. I wish people would sand their divots more. Need more trash cans on the course for our beers cans, too.
S L O W
I have played this course many times , love the layout, conditions are usually very good, but today was ridiculous. It took 3 hours to play the front nine. Even though the course was crowded play should never be that slow. I called the pro shop while waiting on the 6th tee with 2 other groups - 2 hours had already passed. The ranger did come by on #7 and said that there were no gaps, just crowded. Strongly suggest they change their tee times to have. at least 10 minute gaps instead of 8. Not going to have many golfers returning to play again. Not fun to wait that much for any round.
