One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Hidden Gem
Love the layout and playability! Highly recommend.
Just enough of a breeze to make it tolerable
I had doubts when the predicted 15 mph winds hadn’t shown up until near the end of my round but the cups of ice at the start and at turn kept my hydration levels up with my three bottles of water and allowed me to swing comfortably. The greens had been aerated and were back to their superb condition. It has to be tough during this early heat wave. So easy to burn the greens. The heat scared off many golfers on a Wednesday…and they should be careful with 107 degree heat but…a 12 mph wind and constant hydration kept this 72 year old body operating to the point where my short game, requiring touch, was never better.
Interesting track
The course was in relatively good shape with the exception of some spots that did not have enough grass, maybe due to the heat and the greens had been punched which is necessary
About those greens
I used to brag on the greens at Cypress Lakes. Yesterday I was joined by three young guys from Tomball who hadn’t played there in a couple of years. I did mention how the green on 8 had to be rebuilt after the freeze of 21. It’s still in rough shape but now indistinguishable from the other greens. Crunchy, slow and rough with unexpected hops and veers. Looks like they’ve not been cut short due to heat and lack of rain, maybe not watered. The good news…the rough around the lakes have been allowed to grow, saving me a couple of golf balls.
Good golf course
I suppose I should just review the course and not GolfNow but I am going for both. The course is in fairly good shape except the greens are still recovering from the freeze a couple of years ago. Greens did putt fairly well as long as you did not have to putt over the numerous circles of grass where they are working to repair the freeze damage from the winter of 2020.♦ While I did get a "Hot Deal", while in the pro shop more than one person paid 51.95 including sales tax at the counter. This was puzzling to me as I was led to believe the rate was 69.00 on GolfNow. IN fact, I used a "reward" to get the price down to 52 bucks once I paid the fees. Golf has gotten more expensive and paying the rack rate plus fees doesn't make a lot of sense to a retired golfer on a fixed income. Bet this one wont make it through the filter. At least I tried.
Bunkers holding water and are like concrete, need to get on top of the weeds around the course. Greens have been sanded 9th hole is the worst but they are putting work into them so it didn’t bother us to much. Besides that course was fun to play nice layout lots of practice areas staff is very friendly would play this course again.
Nice track!
The course was in good condition, couple of par 3 needed to be cut between t box and greens, your greens were much slower than usual. You staff was great!
Nephew Visit
The course was in good shape. They had aerated the course about one to two weeks earlier. Greens were still a little bumpy. Overall with windy conditions the course was challenging! Par 3 17th hole two great shots from Ken and David - see Pic
Nice course
Quite long from the white tees 6500+. Long par 3’s. Nice layout. Front nine greens had been sanded very recently. Back 9 fairly recently. Greens will be better in a couple of weeks. Good value for the money.
100 degree heat
Again I was part of a fun foursome. Thankfully we took a few minutes to cool down at the turn. I need to remember to take some practice swings when I begin to get sapped. The ninth green has finally recovered from the great freeze 15 months ago. Had a nice par on that hole.
